David Anderson (CROCODILE)

Bullshare - 25 May 2004 10:53

It is with deep regret I have to inform everyone that Dave Anderson(Crocodile) sadly passed away last night in his sleep.

This is a complete shock to all his family and friends, therefore can I ask everyone to respect their privacy and not phone his home etc.

David was the most likable and open person I have ever met and a huge friend of mine and MoneyAMs.

Whatever I post will never come near doing justice to this great man, so I will simply stop here.

Mike

20.13 I have had a few brief conversations with David's family today. Despite all that has happened they have managed to briefly log onto MoneyAm and seen the numerous postings. I know they are moved by the response. The family are in the process of organising David's funeral but matters are slightly complicated with the Bank Holiday weekend. I will post more in due course when I have some more information.

26 May :I have received many many e-mails with offers of help and offers of sympathy. Many thanks for all these and apologises if I have not been able to reply but I will get round to it. I will also make sure those that have asked me to pass on any messages to Davids family get sent on.

In the meantime I know many of you are wondering what happened. At this stage it is not for me to go into details but suffice to say it is of a natural cause and totally unexpected.

David had withdrawn a little from the site over the last few weeks as he felt he wanted to devote more time to looking after Maria who is very poorly. Although he did not post much in the day I do know he was constantly logging on. He still continued to burn the midnight oil to create each day traders thread and he would spend about 15 hours each weekend creating the Weekend/Monday thread.

16.34 26/May Have come off the phone from Rachel(David's daughter). Today is not an easy day for the family, I think they were so busy yesterday that today has been harder as it has had time to sink in. We talked about Funeral arrangements and Rachel mentioned that they could not book anything yet but will let me know as soon as possible. She mentioned once again about all the postings which they have been busy reading and thank everyone for all the kind words and thoughts. They will arrange a public funeral as they know a lot of people would like to attend.

A message from David's Family:(posted on David's website Snappytrader.com)

Incredible that it is 5 years since he passed away. Everyone has very fond memories of an amazing and generous man

Spaceman - 24 May 2009 17:33 - 237 of 321

I remember sitting in a restaurant somewhere up north after a traders meeting and chatting to Dave not long after he found out about his epilepsy. I seem to remember it didn't affect his ability to get pissed, or was it me that was pissed? I cant remember that bit..... ;-)

I will raise a glass to Dave this evening.

It's not too often that you come across a man such as Croc. Ever so helpful and generous with his time and knowledge. Wish he were still around....

Mega Bucks - 23 May 2010 16:56 - 240 of 321

Tomorrow will be 6 years since we lost Croc !!

mikeran - 23 May 2010 17:16 - 241 of 321

The comments already posted from recent years about Croc the man, still hold good. I was fortunate to attend one of his trading courses at his home in the west Midlands and there met his wife. Both generous and helpful in life, and the trading hands on live course was and still is valuable. I wonder what he would have made of the markets to-day?
The picture from Martini shows his other likes of visits to France and Le Touquet. 6 years passes quickly.

Spaceman - 24 May 2010 07:38 - 242 of 321

6 Years !! hard to believe its been so long.

Mikeran, I am sure he would have loved today's markets ......

Greystone - 24 May 2010 18:52 - 243 of 321

Never to be forgotten!

Martini - 24 May 2010 19:19 - 244 of 321

Yes never.

klal - 24 May 2010 20:00 - 245 of 321

Every time I draw channels on my charts, I recall what Croc showed us regarding price behaviour around the extremes. One can't forget one's guru.....

Gausie - 24 May 2010 20:03 - 246 of 321

That cheeky smile when he teased. And the warmth, openness, honesty and humility when he traded. Great guy.

Greystone - 24 May 2010 20:58 - 247 of 321

For those who may not know (or remember).... the winking Croc in the corner of
the Traders Thread header every day is to remind us who inspired the whole thing.

jj50 - 25 May 2010 08:18 - 248 of 321

Remembering David for sharing that enthusiasm and wisdom.

Mega Bucks - 25 May 2010 08:46 - 249 of 321

I was on my 2nd course with david at his house just a week before he passed away,a true gent.

Time Traveller - 25 May 2010 11:57 - 250 of 321

I really can't believe it was that long ago. My recollections are his presentations on those pesky "bots" when we had a Traders meetings in Newcastle and Edinburgh.
Seems like a lifetime ago now. But I am sure those "bots" still persist.

Lancslad - 25 May 2010 12:24 - 251 of 321

croc still miss you mate tony.

Gausie - 25 May 2011 18:28 - 252 of 321

It's that time again. Will raise a pint to you later croc.

Greystone - 25 May 2011 18:34 - 253 of 321

Cheers Croc!

klal - 25 May 2011 19:06 - 254 of 321

Croc will remain an inspiration forever! I'm sure he's keeping an eye on us from those lofty heights...
