Interesting couple of days ahead to look forward to. If the SP fails at 460p again today and perhaps tomorrow, the dreaded double top will have been formed, the usual self-fulfilling prophecy and the recent rise will be sold into very heavily. On the other hand a break through this resistance level and I would suggest 550p is on the cards.

Looks to me that it is range bound from 460p to 400p and playing this up and down could be very profitable.
Results are due next wednesday though so all could change....... either way.

GF .... hope you are not currently short ..... SOL (US ticker) was up about 12% last night (friday), which assuredly must get reflected in London on monday

Cyners , yep got caught out. I can take it though on the chin.
Estimated loss of over 20 grand but thats the pitfall with a dual listed stock.
Still 5 times that amount though in profit overall since its appearance in the UK.
Think ill add another rule to my golden rules, never ever again touch a dual listed stock. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaGH.
UTD to win the premiership tommorrow will ofset the pain I hope.

Will be glad to see the return of a bull market but i think too many are calling it too early. Hope im wrong.
Cyners personal question hope you dont mind?, do you use spreadbets or CFDS?.
Am hoping to set up a spreadbet thread (in the near future) so was wondering if you would contribute with your trading experience. it would be much appreciated.
Im now thinking of semi retiring (knocking on a bit now)and puting in a working director which would leave me with a lot more time on my hands to trade more or less full time as i did in the mid 90s to early 2000.
I think a short term trading thread of this nature might do well on this board.
cheers GF.

It would certainly help me----I've been teetering on the edge of having a go so many times but keep losing my nerve! I've always bought and held but I can see the atractions of spreadbets in these markets. I'm tempted to spend the day on one of Naked Trader tuition days--anyone been on one?

Ive heard there not bad MP, I suppose it depends on what level you are presently at. seemingly he wont let you go on level 2 until you have been on level 1.
A bit pricey aswell 500 for a day?.
Anyway you would be welcome on the new thread.
regards GF.

I like the idea of the new thread, GF.
MP: I too had thought about attending one of those training days but also thought it's a bit pricey, especially as I don't live anywhere near London. And you probably already know most of what you'd be doing that day - it's just a matter of having the confidence to do it. IG let you start with small amounts in the first 4 weeks, and give you a dummy account before that, and send you loads of stuff to read. They have also started doing 'live' online courses (free!) - I'm booked on one for Monday.

I would also appreciate the thread GF. Toya please let me know what course is like I trade with IG but didn't know they offered courses.

Maggie, all you need to do is to sign up for it. Go to: www.igmarkets.co.uk. On their Home page, on right-hand side under 'Highlights' click on 'New Online Seminar'. It's run by David Woods, who was a presenter at a conference I went to, and he is brilliant.

GF ..... i used to use s/b, but when my main contact at IG moved across to the CFD side, i changed too.
the advantage of CFDs is that they are open-ended, whereas, if memory serves me correctly s/b is a bit like a tradional traded option where there is a time limit with the premium reducing in vlaue with the passing of time.
on the other hand, s/b is tax efficient whereas CFDs are not
of course, there uis no reason i guess not to have some of each

Lovely to see some support for the new idea. Ive got a few pals from other sites who are seasoned traders (good chaps) who are also interested in contributing.
In thinking of a start say at the beginning of September.
Got to get a few links sorted out between now and then.
Thanks GF.
