Oblomov, if you are there have you got time to take a look at the EPO site and give an opinion on these and say what you make of them? Ta!

Cynic, I just checked the price of potatoes in my local Co-op supermarket - loose washed ones are 1.32/ Kg, nearly all the bagged ones were 90p/Kg, so your theory doesn't work out in that shop at least.

cynic - 22 Feb 2007 16:37 - 23715 of 27111

Marlow is much too posh for Co-op (lol) ..... we have Waitrose + a small Sainsbury's (awful; no wonder they lose market share) and small M&S (badly overpriced).

Even so, the differential of 46% that you have found just to have some machinery stick some spuds in a plastic bag is patently unjustifiable ..... other than that mugs clearly buy!

boldtrader - 22 Feb 2007 18:09 - 23716 of 27111

Hi cynic ever frequented the "Marlow Donkey" before, after or during shopping trips ??

Falcothou - 22 Feb 2007 18:27 - 23717 of 27111

I'll happily give a Sainsbury's tip. Whatever you do don't get their home insurance! Unless you want to wait for 6 months for them to do a week's repair work that is, as well as having customer service that makes NTL (or whatever they are called now) look a shining beacon to attentiveness.

cynic - 22 Feb 2007 20:13 - 23718 of 27111

not really a pub man, but certainly the Donkey does not feature highly on atmospheric pubs .... try Two Brewers or for upmarket, Hand & Flowers, though that is really more of a restaurant than a pub

Frampton - 23 Feb 2007 08:47 - 23719 of 27111

Cynic, I don't think you read my post properly - the bagged spuds were CHEAPER.
(Unfotunately I live in the middle of nowhere so can't enjoy the delights of M&S or Waitrose.)

kimoldfield - 23 Feb 2007 09:15 - 23720 of 27111

Oblo, I don't know if you have had a chance to look at the Euro Patent Office site yet, if so I am wondering if you are of the opinion that there is nothing out of the ordinary there, or do you think that there may be a chance that SEO are beginning to dot their i's and cross their t's in preparation for some real action at last.

cynic - 23 Feb 2007 09:31 - 23721 of 27111

you're right; i did misread unless you were comparing apples with pears ..... shows what a rip-off Waitrose certainly is, and i suspect Sainsbury's are similar

oblomov - 23 Feb 2007 11:25 - 23722 of 27111

Kim,

sorry for not replying earlier - Haven't 'logged in' for a few days.

I'm not sure what you mean by what do I make of it.

Some further info here though

http://v3.espacenet.com/textdoc?DB=EPODOC&IDX=US2006279014&F=1&QPN=EP1631428&RPN=EP1631428&DOC=cca34af198500dc77f3af3b27b33daaa51

kimoldfield - 23 Feb 2007 12:11 - 23723 of 27111

Hi Oblo, no problem. I can't quite get my head around these patent thingies! The latest mention (Publication number:DE602004004117D) is at:-
http://v3.espacenet.com/textdoc?CY=ep&LG=en&F=5&IDX=DE602004004117D&DB=EPODOC

and includes EP1631428 (B1) in the Bibliographic data section, this wasn't in the previous one. Would that be because it was missed off the original (Publication number:EP1631428) by mistake or is it now in addition to the original?

Is it me? Or is it really as complicated as I think it is, yea ok it's probably me!!

oblomov - 23 Feb 2007 12:52 - 23724 of 27111

Kim,

Have you got the link to the 'previous one' - still not sure what you mean. The latest publication is for Germany.

kimoldfield - 23 Feb 2007 13:26 - 23725 of 27111

Oblo, the 'previous one' was the one you mentioned in your post 23722, but now that you have mentioned Germany the penny has dropped (well it did have a long way to go!), so thanks very much for that. The only thing that puzzles me now is, why don't they do it all at the same time, would it save money?!

Frampton - 23 Feb 2007 13:42 - 23726 of 27111

They were definitely all potatoes cynic! There was only one type sold washed and loose, the same variety in a bag was much cheaper - very odd I know, it seems your wife has the right idea after all.

oblomov - 23 Feb 2007 13:48 - 23727 of 27111

Kim,

Not all done in the same place - the searching for specific countries may be done in that country - i.e. the countries Patent Office will do them, different national Patent Offices work at different speeds, there may be prolems in some countries with existing national patents but not in others, etc etc.

kimoldfield - 23 Feb 2007 13:51 - 23728 of 27111

All this talk of potatoes and patents....... If SEO have bad news in March, then patently they will have had their chips.

I'll get me coat......

kimoldfield - 23 Feb 2007 13:54 - 23729 of 27111

Oblo,

Much obliged, it all goes to show that those who work at patenting something do have to put a bit of effort into it.

spiket - 23 Feb 2007 15:59 - 23730 of 27111

What do we make of the RNS? Have Barclays quietly been building up a stake?

nyleve - 23 Feb 2007 15:59 - 23731 of 27111

An RNS at last, perhaps not the one we are all waiting for! Wish I had the brains to understand what it is all about - HELP please !!!!!
