Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

Stockwatch is currently showing yesterday's trades.

Also, the end of day bid/offer prices are still rubbish, over a week after we were promised a fix.
I use bid prices for my portfolio spreadsheets and I'd imagine most others do, unless they like to kid themselves that they can sell at midprice.....

This was fine before the "upgrade". Why are we in such a mess now?

Dell,

Please accept my sincere apologies - rest assured the tech guys are working hard to resolve these problems.

I have forwarded your comments onto them as a matter of urgency and I will get them to update you as soon as possible.

Ian, last few days I've been getting regular logon requests from Terminal panes (frequency of about 4/day) Guess it's the same problem as all previous ones.

Also, I updated my Sun Java to a new version last night and cleared out my Sun Java cache. There were about 50 MoneyAM streamer JAR files in there of about 195K each. As they are all sufixed with the MonthYear of the version the old ones are not being deleted as you release new ones. I feel that concept needs a bit of a rethink as you clogging up folks disks. Unless you know better of course ;)

BrianTrayda,

over the last few days I have been restarting services as I have been putting in new software fixes, and unfortunately this has been logging people out.

I will not be putting any new changes in until after hours from now so this should stop.

When we release a new applet, they are date stamped so a new version is downloaded on to the client computer. By not overwriting the old version it enables us to roll back quickly if there is a problem.

As there is no way of us forcing a purge of the java cache on a client machine (imagine what fun we could have if that were possible!) they remain there until the browser clears them. There is no way around this without jeperdising our ability to rollback...

J.

BrianTrayda - 25 Aug 2004 10:40 - 2384 of 7315

Thx Spooky. Understood. There is a setting in the SunJava control panel applet to manage the cache size, so I guess it's up to the Users to find it and set it to something reasonable. Don't know if that's on your help pages yet. :-)

FYI
This new SunJava has got rid of some niggly redraw problems when I verically scroll a Stockwatch list (only on a slave screen). Or did you change something?
It was a smearing effect of horizontal lines not being fully drawn - as in playing catch-up, but not quite managing it. Difficult to describe in words.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 25 Aug 2004 10:47 - 2385 of 7315

BrianTrayda,

We havent changed anything within the applet to do with the redrawing, i guess Sun have been doing some bug fixes...

Had this during morning auction time. Also, current Stockwatch seems to be taking a lot of processor time (ie: relative to older versions).

gsknr.png

Also, what's happending to Karl's data download?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 01 Sep 2004 10:05 - 2387 of 7315

BT,

I will get JT to take a look.

Ian

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 01 Sep 2004 10:05 - 2388 of 7315

BrianTrayda,

The stockwatch should not be any more processor intensive than the old one, unless you are now monitoring more stocks than before.

Karl is currently away sailing, so work on the data downloads has paused. What is wrong with them? (I may be able to have a look)

I will need to speak to our data supplier about the GSK problem shown above.

BrianTrayda - 01 Sep 2004 10:20 - 2389 of 7315

Spook:
Stockwatch: Hmmmm - do you remember I updated my SunJava to latest version. I wonder...
Data D/L: I kept the link to the webpage from the original thread (now purged), but it's not accessible from anywhere on the MAM menus. Otherwise data seemed good. Just a shame that the 7pm creation time couldn't be maintained.
Numbers: Good old suppliers eh. ;)

Bet Karl's cursing the light winds after the last month's opposite.

Haystack - 01 Sep 2004 21:04 - 2390 of 7315

Lots of strange closing prices still - Bids greater than offers on many stocks.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Sep 2004 07:02 - 2391 of 7315

Haystack,

Again accept my apologies - the guys are trying to work out how to resolve this - we will keep you posted.

Ian

dell314 - 02 Sep 2004 08:39 - 2392 of 7315

Ian - despite agreeing with Haystacks observation re some SETS stocks, closing prices for MM controlled stocks actually appeared reasonably sensible after close yesterday, for the first time for ages.
So at least there is some progress.

Anyway, one of the key reasons that I use your premium services rather than ADVFN's is their historical instability problems and poor customer service(IMO). However, the events of the last couple of weeks have given me serious cause for concern. Do you have any predictions as to when all services will be fully functioning again?

My reason for posting here today is that some of the midprices on Stockwatch and on the Toplists are wrong.
Your top loser is MSA which has bid offer unchanged from yesterday at 1.25/2 yet mid is reporting as 1.25 and showing as a 23% loss.
On gainers we have MVK with bid/offer 0.4/0.45 showing mid of 0.5 and 17.65% gain.
Rather worrying that basic mathematical calculations can have gone so astray....

dell,

I completely understand your concerns and I sincerely apologise for the problems we have been having. Rest assured we are working to resolve these issues as soon as we can and I will keep you all updated.

With regard to the Stockwatch problems you have seen, I will get our guys to take a look.
