New IDS Survey Reports Enthusiasm for ITV Advertising
IDS, the advertising sales arm of programmer Flextech, has published the results of its second annual online survey of the UK advertising industry. The survey, which was undertaken by Media Intelligence, was designed to gather experiences and opinions of interactive TV advertising. Its results are compiled in a free report, entitled "Interactive TV--A Maturing Medium," which compares those results with the results of last year's survey, and which can be downloaded from IDS's Web site (www.idigitalsales.co.uk). According to IDS, the survey showed that more and more advertisers are using interactive TV, that the vast majority of respondents had a positive experience with the medium, and that more advertisers intend to run more interactive TV advertising campaigns in the future.
Among the survey's findings:
69% of respondents said they had run an interactive advertising campaign before, compared to 62% last year.
Usage of Dedicated Advertiser Locations (DAL's) and Mini-DAL's increased considerably as respondents recognized the branding power of the medium.
DAL's replaced impulse response ads as the format advertisers and agencies were most pleased with.
57% of respondents who used interactive advertising before rated their experience as "good" or "very good," which represents a 58% increase from last year.
3/4 of respondents said they would definitely use the medium again, compared to 61% last year.
70% of respondents said they would like to see more education and information on ROI, while 62% said they would like to see more case studies. 71% of respondents said that providing this information was the responsibility of the sales houses.
A plurality of respondents (36%) said that the main advantages of interactive advertising are the brand experience and viewer engagement. 22% of respondents said that the main disadvantage of the medium is its cost.
According to IDS, the survey also showed that the advertising industry is viewing creativity in interactive advertising as increasingly important, and that there is a demand for creative agencies in particular to become more involved in the medium.

Talent Television to Produce ITV-Enabled "How Euro Are You?" for BBC Two
Talent Television, the company behind the popular interactive quiz show, "Test the Nation", has been commissioned by the BBC to produce an interactive TV show, called "How Euro Are You?" The 90-minute show, which will air in the early fall on BBC Two in a primetime slot, will poll viewers in real time, via the Web and mobile and land-line phones, on their knowledge of and attitudes towards continental Europe and the European Union. It will be hosted by the BBC's political editor, Andrew Marr. "We are delighted to be working with BBC Two for the first time," Talent TV managing director, Tony Humphreys, said in a prepared statement. "This new interactive polling event builds on the skill and expertise that we have built up during the long-running 'Test the Nation' series and this new format promises to be a success with viewers when it broadcasts later in the year. This commission demonstrates our continued progress in developing and owning original formats and programming."
Earlier this year, the BBC commissioned another six episodes of "Test the Nation," in a deal that will see versions of the format airing on BBC One through 2006. The show features a red-button app, and also allows viewers to participate via land-line and mobile phones, and the Web. In an interview with [itvt] last year, the BBC's head of interactive, Emma Somerville, said that "Test the Nation" has proved to be one of the Corporation's most successful interactive programs--in part, because of the ability of the show's red-button app to provide viewers with a personalized response: "We get big audience numbers with 'Test the Nation'and those audiences stay with the interactivity throughout the program," she said. "We know that one thing people love is getting a personalized response: people were amazed when they saw that they could use the Test the Nation app to get their own IQ or find out what kind of personality type they are."

Now that YOO have thier Dateline service up and running on the 3 network , this was planned for release about early May this year.
This service will spread evenually to other networks , but i have no info when this will happen! Naturally when more tie ups are RNS , the share price will get another boost northwards!

Just to keep the shorters sweating and up to speed incase they have not fully researched Yoomedia, it is well worth re-posting this information from December 2004:-
300 million budget per annum for Public TV service - Yoomedia already took part in a mock bid for this with other partners in recent times - the presentation was headed by former MD David Docherty, I have not yet seen the result of the mock bid, that is, if it does get published, any way, here is some info:-

UK communications regulator Ofcom has called for the setting up of a new Public Service Provider (PSP) which would distribute TV programmes in a digital format through broadband lines, networked PVRs, and mobile networks, as well as more conventional TV distribution systems.
( added 6/08/05 - Yoomedia's RNS this week regarding seamless integration of PC, Mobile and iTV must be seen as a step in the right direction for any future PSP contract )
And it has proposed funding of 430m (300m) a year and that would include the commissioning of TV programmes, and Ofcom said it would be able to spend as much as 290,000 (200,000) for each hour of content it created.
The aim would be to compete with the BBC and other publicly funded TV, to provide high-quality content, and instead of a 24-hour TV channel, it should aim for about three hours of programming per day.
Content of that quality could eventually be made available internationally on a pay per view basis. The PSP would be different to existing broadcasters. Inevitably, in its early years in the transition to digital, much of the PSP's digital content would be more likely to resemble traditional TV programmes, but it would not be a TV channel in the traditional sense, nor would it publish books, magazines or newspapers (as the BBC has done). There should be a series of public bids to run the PSP in the UK, but it should not be awarded to the BBC, insisted Ofcom.
Ofcom said it would not rule out carriage arrangements whereby the PSP secured agreements to distribute publicly funded material on analogue TV before digital switchover. Of course, it is primarily seen as a shortcut to both digital TV programming and internet delivery.
If Ofcom gets this original idea off the ground, there is a good chance that other European countries with prominent public service broadcasting commitments, might also adopt it.

Discovery Europe, Fremantle, BT and The Science Museum were among the consortia members at Ofcoms hypothetical PSP pitch yesterday.
The presentations were led by Human Capital, Yoomedia and Spectrum Strategy, and all mentioned Channel 4 as a potential partner.
Shadow tender presentations were made to an expert panel - chaired by Adam Singer, who sits on Ofcoms content board of Tim Gardam, former Channel 4 director of programmes, David Chance, chairman of TopUp TV, and Joyce Taylor of Mersey TV.
Human Capital led a consortium of The Science Museum and distribution partner BT. Its main proposal was to help publicly-funded institutions such as museums, galleries, state education and the NHS to increase the value for money they provide to tax payers.
This would be achieved in three key ways: using C4s experience as a commissioner of television and interactive content; letting institutions and individuals create content for every platform using BT rich media; and using digital technology to transform the delivery of publicly-funded services.
In response, David Chance praised the proposals idea of logging into the existing asset base. Tim Gardam made the point that he didnt know where the creative centre of the proposal was, although he added: "The idea of a library of material is an excellent one."
Yoomedia proposed the brand Six, backed up by a team consisting of BT, Telewest, Reel Media, Talkback Thames, Thinner Media and Accenture. Its premise was that the PSP should be "dedicated to innovative production, aimed primarily at marginalized but significant minorities in the UK and distributed on all digital and broadband platforms."
It would bring together self-organising communities or Tribes to allow "broader innovation and representation of more diverse talents". These tribes would do things such as vote for commissions and how funds should be distributed. 250 million would be spent on programming, including a dedicated fund of 30 million for "self-commissioning of content".
C4 would have access to all of Sixs content for free, but it would have to commit to a minimum number of hours of content from the fund each year to run in peaktime.
Joyce Taylor praised the public access part of Yoomedias proposal. Gardam said he liked it "a lot", but questioned its scale and whether it provided enough direct competition to the BBC.
The Spectrum Strategy-led consortium, which included Fremantle, Discovery Europe, Vodafone, Bulldog Communications and Vision Architects, came up with the brand name Origin8. Its PSP offering would aim to be "all-original", innovative, creative and risk-taking "in ways commercial broadcasters cannot afford to be".
There would be two strands of content: high quality content, "which is under-provided by the market"; and local targeted content. The budget breakdown would see 211 million spent on content, and would include 12 local TV stations, 12 local portals and 40 websites.
Up to one hour per day of Origin8s content would be showcased in a regular peak-time slot on C4. There would also be cross-promotion of content and services between Origin8 and C4.
In response, David Chance said: "It was the safest proposal weve seen. I commend it." Gardam agreed: "It was the most conservative of the pitches and therefore the most likely to get commissioned," but he added that he wasnt quite sure what it was doing that was new.
In his closing remarks, Ofcoms Ed Richards explained that several key themes, such as distribution and communities, had emerged, in particular the relationship to C4, which "we will have to look at carefully."
On funding, Richards said: "It is a challenge, but frankly it is a challenge that already exists. It is not unique to PSP it washes across the whole broadcasting industry."

The weakness of all the proposals was that they were under represented by non-broadcast publishers, such as magazines, mobile and online portals and content creators. David Dochertys group was my favourite proposal his team was the only group that showed they had an understanding of how the digital publishing world may be in the years to come.

I thought the third pitch [Spectrum] was the most intellectually coherent and well thought-out but also the most conservative and raised most questions about why wed need a completely new organization to do stuff which Channel 4 and the BBC are capable of doing already. Yoomedia's was the most exciting pitch because it genuinely tried to engage with developments outside the mainstream media (file-sharing, blogging etc.) though I think the purpose of the organisation was not at all thought through. I thought the first proposal [Human Capital] was disappointing for the same reasons - it appeared to be a very paternalistic, almost pre-Reithian approach which failed to engage with what audiences are currently doing and watching.

Anyway, fantastic news that Yoomedia should be considered for the PSB - it shows what respect they have gained as an iTV provider - I am sure what ever happens with the PSB - they will be involved in someway, and just think 300 million added to turnover per annum.
Shorters beware - this is what you are gambling against, just think of the change in SP if Yoomedia announce they have secured the PSB contract - it would be instant incineration !!!!!!!!! - DYOR before you think of shorting Yoomedia, they do not have two highly regarded ex ministers on their board for nothing, and already have a 3 year contract with the NHS to provide its digital TV offering via sky at present, but eventually, across all Digital Platforms.

review prospective partners through their mobile phone. The service is designed
to fit the particular operability of mobile phones by providing very simple
navigation, timely updates, and content packaged in small clips.
While the launch of this product is in the ordinary course of business for
YooMedia, it represents an important strategic goal. The directors do not expect
the new service to have a material impact on the company's financial results for
the year ending 31 December 2005. However, they are optimistic about the
contribution that will be made in the following financial year.

On most of the boards relating to Yoomedia, a lot of de-rampers manage to flood the boards, so that it does not give investors a chance to read informative posts.
Personally I now have no problem in declaring my hand with Yoomedia, and will be around to see how true my prediction is, I am now looking at 3.00 in the next 3 - 5 years, why you may ask , well here is the hard facts:-
2002 - yearly turnover, 40 K SP 1p
2005 - daily turnover 300K SP 10.62p ( yes that is daily, it is not a typing error )
Is that serious growth or what, we are witnessing a major growth stock before our very eyes.
Forecast for end of year 100 + million turnover, 1 milllon loss ( EVO forecast 12/07/05 ) against last year 21.37 million turnover, 24 million loss - coupled together with a very upbeat future trading out look - does not take a brain surgeon to work out what effect this news will have - who knows, things may go so well over the next few months now the company is concentrating on its core products, we may even get some profit.
Take a look at the chart of Sportingbet over the last 2 1/2 years - 20p - 369p
Yoomedia look far better at 10.62p than Sportingbet did at 20p - why, well Yoomedia have the advantage of all of their own brands being accessable via PC, Mobile and iTV - Yoomedia have access to all DTV platforms - the only company in the UK at present with this benefit - BSKYB, Freeview, NTL and Telewest are pushing like mad to get the whole country DTV enabled by 2012 in line with government targets, All the marketing is being done for Yoomedia - nice eh.
Yoomedia have the added adavantage of 11 third party Broadcasters using their technology, these include ITV, BBC, C4, BSKYB, Pokerchannel, and production companies such as Celador.
Yoomedia have the advantage of long term contracts with NHS and William Hill, who are going to be major third party users of their technology.
Yoomedia now have their own broadcast and production facilities, so they are self generating income of their own via the Avago brand & Dateline Brand across PC, Mobile & iTV media formats, they have their own gaming channel Yooplay available to all DTV households in the UK - they have the best of both worlds - third party users, and their own broadcast stream, via their own DTV channels on all digital formats, Freeview, Satellite and Cable.
Yoomedia also have a Broadband TV project in trials with NTL, which is going very well - they have a partnership with European partner MMTV to exploit the future of Broadband TV.
Yoomedia have a very successful CEO, whose ambition is to make Yoomedia an international leader in its field, with the advantage of a young team whose average age is 30 to help him acheive it, just look at the achievments of David Bainbridge to date who has secured worldwide clients such as Nestle and Celador via the YES divison of Yoomedia.
The Gambling & Gaming division has a 5 year contract with FTSE 100 member William Hill, and are already broadcasting for them on channel 425 on BSKYB on the SKY ACTIVE portal, which BKYB continue to spend fortunes on promoting, as it is fast becoming one of the most profitable area of BSKYB.

When the USA in 2 - 3 years catch up to where the UK is now regarding DTV take up, Yoomedia will be ready to tke advantage, they already have Turner Broadcasting as a client in the UK, who are one of the largest broadcasters in the USA - anyone who has good contacts with Ted Turner, is worth investing in, period !
With the technology this company is now able to offer third parties, be prepared for some significant RNS announcements in due course - surely companies like eBay could seriously benefit from the " seamless integration of its product, via one e-wallet over the multi media platforms of PC, Mobile and iTV ", just think if that kind of RNS comes like a bolt out of the blue one of these days, we would not be looking at 30% growth in one day, seriuosly more, that is the prospect we now have.
Glad I made my decision two years ago to invest for a 3 - 5 year period, glad I put the effort into a lot of research,including taking subscriptions to broadcast based magazines, and making good contacts within BBC and ITV, exciting times ahead for sure.

I think the thing that worries investorss is that with such huge turnover, they're still lossmaking and those profits are not in their sights. It's had a very good run and I was surprised how far it went but feel a slip back to 7 or 8 over next few weeks is due, and prices normally overshoot what you'd expect so maybe 6! what i'm not certain about is YOO's long term?

Mactavish - if I may be so bold - your postings - whilst they contain loads of useful info - put me off and I only ever read the first 2 or 3 lines before I switch off and skip down to the last para. I am sure that this means I miss lots of important info.
I am not sure if others think the same or if I am in a minority of 1 - but I would certainly appreciate shorter summaries..Just my feedback for what its worth

do we know they are still lossmaking now?figures quted are alays historical and the company in its new enlarged form does not have a lot of history. It is much easier to drive profit out of a 100 mill T/O company that is reporting sales growth as sales increase faster then overheads.The next set of numbers reported will be of particular interst to se the progress being made.I would have said that particularly YOO is about the long term and that is what makes them so exciting. IYou may be right about the share price but I think the recent announcement has alerted investors to the fact that the recent fall was an over correction.It isnt long ago the institutions bought in at 15p!It would be interesting to know if they are still in or have moved on.

Bear in mind the targets have only been missed, because of a delayed contract with Hill's, until the end of the year, due to Hill's buying Stanley Leisure. Not due to lower than expected revenue from iTV gambling, which was an assumption, the less astute investors arrived at. The contract is for 5 years.
A few months ago, Alphameric announced a major contract with William Hill relating to technology installations in WH outlets. The acquisition by WH of
the Stanley Leisure betting shops has increased the scope of this contract. YOO's services cannot be rolled out into the betting shops, until this technology installation is complete in over 1000+ shops.
The important part is this. Although the launch of YOO's services in Hill's was delayed until the end of the year, in the end, due to the extended Alphameric contract, the amount of business is MORE than EVO originally anticipated, because the Stanley Leisure shops, increase the Hill's portfolio.
YOO need Alphameric to roll out infrastructure, before our services can be provided.
Have you acutally grapsed the above yet? 2006 is only a few months ahead and the markets, always look forward 12 to 18 months with shares like Yoomedia.
EBITDA positive since March with 5m in cash since then. This means they can pay the wage bill.
Now turning PROFITABLE on a month by month basis about now, according to FD.

So - looks like 10p is the new resistance level - tested earlier, and now back to 10.5p - a very positive day, and should well and truly see all the shorters out this week - then nicely up to 15p on the run in to interim results, more than a possibility now.( wait until everyone gets confirmation of the growth this company has achieved, as it moves into profit )
The more you look into the presence that Yoomedia have on BSKYB, and how greatly their presence has increased on DTV from that early Freeview CH 53 entry - the more and more I think BSKYB will end up taking Yoomedia out - when the management feel the time or price is right - certainly not inside the next three years, no way will Dr Sinclair sell this one short, he knows exactly where this company is heading.
I Believe from the facts out their the fastest period of growth will be over the next three years within the UK, based on industry fact, there is plenty of figures out there in the market place, I would suggest anyone who is not on this ride yet, find them, or look back on some of the earlier threads.
After that, when the USA fully kicks off, who knows where this share will head then, I would not even like to hazzard a guess.
Looking forward to next year, we can safely say, that William Hill was expected to provide in the region of 5 million to this years figures, based on the fact that profit was projected of 4 million, and now that the William Hill contract will not kick in until 2006, we have a forecast loss now of 1 million.
Don't lose sight of the fact that when the figures for this year were produced, William Hill had not taken out Stanley Leisure then - this now adds a further 600 outlets to William Hill's existing 900 outlets - effectively this 5 year contract has now gone up in the region of 66% in size - yes, Channel 425 will be plugged in over 1500 High Street outlets, and it is more than probable, that inline with the AVAGO announcement, William Hill gaming will also be available to all adult mobile phone users - an amazing prospect, William Hill will be plugging this like mad, as it has to be more cost effective for them, as like the banks, in time, they will reduce the presence on the High Street - hence the City excitement at the moment with Yoomedia - as this part of the business could benefit many businesses, and once they see Yoomedia's own inhouse model working, watch out - you just won't know where the next RNS will be coming from - who knows " eBay announce major partnership with Yoomedia to bring online auctions seamlessly across Mobile, Internet and iTV platforms " - eBay would know something like that would instantly send their own shares skywards - as it would add a further 25% of potential users to its already successful worldwide model - that is why Yoomedia is featuring in my bottom draw portfolio, along with my Tesco and ROK Build.
Like Dr Sinclair, I look forward to next few years with relish, and a conservative profits forecast of 10,000,000 is surely not out of the question for 2006, this would give EPS in the region of 2p ( already forecast by EVO earlier in the year ), and a PE of at least 40, given the fact that turnover would have risen in the region of 36500 % over the last three years - amazingly fast growth.
Yoomedia at 3.9p per share just under two months ago, is now looking more and more like one of the top " no brainers " of the year, and am glad that opportunity was given to me to average down to a level where I believe I will break even sometime this year at 19p - if only I had have had the funds available, I would most certainly been in profit, but you can't have it all way, and I am a patient sort of chap who can wait for the future rewards, of a much higher SP with divedends to boot - and you never know, like BSKYB are doing now, there may even be cash to give back.
Yoomedia - what a fantastic business model, let BSKYB, NTL, Telewest & FREEVIEW ( especially look at the market leader BSKYB and see the cash burn thye once had - frightening ) do all the marketing to get themselves into now over 13 million UK homes via DTV, and just about every home via mobile ( this is greater than the eBay business model, who really have only been able to get into homes with a PC - and look how successful they have turned out to be ), by 2012 Yoomedia will be available in all UK homes, and by that time, like eBay will be going international.
Can you believe this share stands at just 10.75p today, will all that potential infront them - this IMHO, DYOR is the best buy out there at the moment for long term growth, and just like Polly Peck did once, feel certain for those that have the nerve now to buy and hold, will make a lot of people very rich for a minimal outlay.
