If my brief glance at the results is right, if you take Biotec away from Stanelco, they would have very little to report. Add this to the fact they only part own Biotec with Sphere and there is little encouragement from Stanelcos point of view.
If my losses weren't such a great percentage I'd be out, but I might as well stay in now and hope they keep hold of Biotec.

I am in your position also. The only hope I have is that the institutions know more than has been released in the results. If not the some one at Shroders & others needs a bloody good kicking for handingn out 15m to get this back.

Other products being developed within this division are:
Starpol 3000 - over the period we have completed the initial stages of
development and we are working with a number of companies in order to
undertake full commercial trials.
Starpol 4000 - this is a blend of biodegradable and conventional plastics.
We are currently working on hybrid solutions to deliver specific materials
required in the global market place.
We continue to develop the starch cigarette filter technology and will provide
an update when the filtration trials have reached a more advanced stage.
Now Starpol 4000 ( thats new )
What next an order !!!!!!!! ( One day in far future maybe )
Think I will stick these in the bottom draw and come back in 5 years

This report was almost inevitably going to be about the institutions. They have put long-term money in at 0.8p and will be content to see that management have taken action in a strategic review leading to cost cutting and a narrower product focus. As a short-term holder in CFDs I have had to come out - 1.13p at 8.02am - with egg on my face. Some buying already. I would have held on but not in the higher risk form of CFDs. Need to clear my mind of the history and failed expectations; I know I will be back - haven't the will-power to stay away!

This little piece from the accounts gives me a bit of encouragement:-
"Sealed Air, one of the world's largest packaging companies, is undertaking
various trials at Marchwood. It is examining the potential use of RF technology
applications within its group."
Sealed Air cover many aspects of packaging including stuff like the Frogpack range and other protective packaging (not that they are involved with SEO's products in that field as far as we are aware) and I feel if GreenSeal can be sorted out they are the company to help do it; they must be impressed with the idea otherwise why should a company as large and successful as them bother with it?
From their website :- "Sealed Air Solves Robert Rothschild Farm's Packaging Jam" So you can see, the jam tomorrow is there, if only we could get the lid off the pot!

All as expected, the size of the BS write off is not alarming (or cash costly) and full provision for redundancies made. Allowing for 14 month period and guessing 25% increase in turnover and 40% lower overheard, cashburn on operating level seems to be about 3m for 2007 - well covered by 13m cash on the BS.
I guess it could be Howard White who is claiming compensation (Note 9.) having not been paid a salary when he worked there and now wanting some retrospectively, or is it Ian Balchin feeling antsy? Let's hope this does not flare up - remember last time they thought a claim against them was without merit.
So we have a leaner, meaner, more focused group going forward - but effectively a company still at the stage we all thought it was 2 years ago, bar the purchase of Biotech which is at least a useful cash cow and still the best investment made by SEO.
Would I invest now - almost certinaly not. However, being in already, the downside from here seems limited, and the upside could well be a quick 5-fold on any serious good news, so on balance might as well hold the few pounds worth of stock I've still got from the glory days, if only to tell my grandchildren I was there. Ah, sentiment is a powerful force.
After the initial inevitable sells and mark-down, there are a few buyers coming in now who seem to agree with me.

Yes. Reminds me of the Rolling Stones line :
"Stanelco holders just want to get F%%%ed all night. I just don't have enough Jam" ....

Thinking about it, maybe we should forget the jam - after all, when the lid does come off the pot all you get is a sticky mess. That is NOT Stanelco's future, packaging glory is the future, Starpol/GREENSEAL that jam in I say.

"The underlying trading loss before exceptional items for the period, 6.4m, was
in line with management's expectations at the time of the placing in November
2006. A strategic review of the business identified a series of measures which
were taken during the period and has resulted in the charge of a number of
one-off largely non-cash items. The Board viewed these measures as important
for the long-term benefit of the Company. The net loss following these
decisions is 14.8m."

Wouldn't biodegradable golf balls be more appropriate? Especially the ones that always end in the lake just off the third hole?

Never mind the golf tees. This company has ruined my golf game. If half of what they promised had materialized I'd be playing 3 mornings a week and have a course - side villa in Portugal to visit every 6 weeks for a tune up.
As it stands it a quick trip down to the driving range at lunch on Friday if I can find a few coppers in my pocket for a bucket

Here we are 3 hours into the race, its neck and neck buyers v sellers no real major players out there. All we are getting is doom and gloom on the board. Lets have some positive comments from some of the people that have been buying in this morning! Big boys must have faith in the company because where are they.
I now wish i had brought a few more earlier @ 1.03
My opinion and iam no expert is last year a skoda with a granny driving, but now with a ferrari engine and jenson button driving.
