Get out now.
1) Fergie has already said that Man U won't win the premiership this season and the share price dropped the next day. Take this a stage further. It is unlikely that Man U will finish in the top 2 this year and so won't get automatic entry to Europe next season. This will seriously affect their income and the analysts know this.
2) The sale of Beckham seriously affected replica shirt sales in the far east (they follow the man, not the team). Again, a loss of revenue that can't be recovered.
With this in mind, the 3 offer from Glazier is looking more and more attractive to institutional investors. It would not therefore be suprising to see him make his 30% stake in the next few weeks. This could see the begining of the decline of Man U (lets hope so) with a concommitant fall in the sp.

Arsenal need 2 - 0 at home to go through.
United need 2 - 0 away.
Could be interesting.
Congrats to Liverpool.

hilary - I stand corrected (but I was assuming that Man U would also want to keep a clean sheet) LOL

We've done it before....turin, 1999, semi-final, 2-0 down after 20 minutes, 3-1 down on aggregate, and we all know how that one turned out.....

Not a rumour. McManus and Magnier have sold their stake.
ONDON (AFX) - Malcolm Glazer has purchased the 28.7 pct stake in Manchester United PLC owned by JP McManus and John Magnier, the Irish horse racing millionaires, through their Cubic Expression vehicle.
The block of 75.7 mln shares was acquired from Cubic by Glazer's new vehicle -- Red Football Limited -- for 300 pence a share.
The move takes the US sports tycoon's holding in Man Utd to 56.9 pct, which under UK takeover rules triggers a mandatory offer for the Premiership football club.
The offer will be 300 pence in cash for each share, valuing Man Utd at 790.3 mln stg.
On April 28 the UK Takeover Panel ruled that Glazer, the owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers American football team, must make a formal offer for Man Utd by May 17 or walk away.
On the same day Man Utd's board said it will not recommend a Glazer offer despite repeating its assessment that a price of 300 pence a share is 'fair'.
The board views assumptions in Glazer's business plan as 'aggressive', a reference to the highly leveraged nature of his proposal.
A successful offer by Glazer is dependent on him getting control of at least 75 pct of Man Utd's equity.
The club's army of supporters remain overwhelmingly hostile to the prospect of a Glazer takeover.
They have secured the backing of Nomura, the Japanese investment bank, in an attempt to build a blocking stake.
Glazer is being advised by NM Rothschild.
At 2.28 pm shares in Man Utd were up 34 pence at 299 pence.

Great result last night prop. I say keep Dennis for another year (or two). My fantasy football team now entirely composed of Arsenal players.

As an Arsenal supporter proptrade it doesn't surprise me in the least that that's all you can say. I must admit that I'm quite surprised you even managed that much. Did you have to recover in a cool, darkened room for an hour or so afterwards? You know you really musn't stretch yourself like that.

Interesting day and even more interesting comments.
MNU are probably the only football club in the world that could command such a size of takeover. Wouldn't see Glazer, or anyone else, sniffing around OFEX quoted outfits. ROFLMAO!

If you haven't joined then it is out of your hands.
We are still fighting.
We belive Glazer now has around 67% of the shares.
We have 17% of the shares.
That still leaves 16% of the shares with other people.
We only need 8% more to stop him from transffering the debt (which would effectively force him to leave because he can't repay the debt without using the club).
Join and help us defend our club.
