Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Just recalled a distant memory of the Scargill strikes and what galled me at the time.
It was Michael Heseltine, who I thought was a lying ------, when he stated that there was no intentions to close the number of pits which was being suggested by the unions.
Bur although he was on that occasion and lying -------. he had a softer touch than the Thatcherites and did attempt to address unemployment and social deprivation in Liverpool and other areas.
Also, he was partially responsible for sticking the knife in.

the funeral
never spoil a good story with facts ...... i'm afraid there is a large display of small minds; bit sad really .... as i posted several times, on balance, i don't think a quasi state funeral was warranted or set a good precedent ..... however, that is what was decided by parliament, and i'm perfectly happy to live with it .... seemingly those of petty minds wish to make a banquet, i guess just because it gives them a chance to make a lot of pointless noise

Thatcher sent Hesletine to Liverpool to help the unemployed. Do you think he went of his own accord?

Falklands may name airport after Thatcher. It would be nice if one of London's airports was renamed. I love the thought of Labour MPs having to book tickets to Thatcher International or saying I will be arriving at Thatcher airport for years to come.

I cannot imagine thousands of people lining the streets of London to applaud Tony Blair's coffin. What will be his legacy? Fred, what would you like to write in Tony Blair's history book since you are so scathing of what Margaret Thatcher contributed to this country?

Ed Miliband slumps to new low with voters
d
But an ICM survey yesterday revealed that his personal ratings have sunk to a record net low of minus 23.
A majority of 51 per cent thought he was doing a bad job against just 28 per cent who believed that he was doing well.
It compares to Tory Prime Minister David Cameron’s net rating of minus 10 and minus 29 for Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg.
Mr Miliband’s rating is even worse than the minus 17 he scored in December 2011 when Labour was behind in the polls and his grip on the leadership looked shaky. ICM also found Labour with 38 per cent support, still six points ahead of the Tories, although the gap had narrowed by two since last month and is half what it was in February.
The Lib Dems were static on 15 per cent and the UK Independence Party up two on nine.
No modern opposition has won a general election without being at least 20 points ahead
