Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

The Times tomorrow
Ed Miliband is facing fierce internal dissent amid claims that plum seats in the European Parliament are being “stitched up” for union-backed candidates. Rows have broken out across the country within Labour after previously popular candidates were excluded in favour of others supported by the party’s biggest financial backers. Mr Miliband has been asked to intervene by party members worried that unions have had too much influence in clearing the way for their preferred candidates. The row has set off new fears among Blairites that union dominance in the party is growing before the next general election

Well Mark Thatcher certainly isn't domiciled in the UK, and C Thatch spends most of her time in Switzerland where I guess she has residency, so I would've thought their presumed inheritance of some shares in either a BVI IBC or trust is of no business of HMRC whatsoever.
I'm sure it is but I'm also sure as hell they won't .

Pink Floyd album designer Storm Thorgerson dies
Storm Thorgerson, whose album cover artwork includes Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, has died aged 69, the band's management has confirmed.
A childhood friend of the founding members of the band, he became their designer-in-chief, fashioning a string of eye-catching creations.
He designed the cover showing a prism spreading a spectrum of colour for The Dark Side Of The Moon.
His credits also include albums by Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and Muse.

Dilbert,
Income Tax when leaving the UK
If you go to live or work abroad and become non-resident in the UK, you might still have to pay UK Income Tax - but only on your income from the UK. If you do need to pay, you may need to complete a Self Assessment tax return.
When are you non-resident for UK Income Tax?
You'll be treated as non-resident from the day after you leave the UK if you can show:you left the UK to go abroad permanently or your absence and full-time work abroad lasts at least the whole tax yearyour visits to the UK are less than 183 days in a tax year and average less than 91 days a tax year over a maximum of four consecutive years
The same applies to your spouse, civil partner or partner.
So, any UK citizen who is resident abroad and inherits assets or receives income derived outside of the UK (eg. shares in an offshore company) has no requirement to notify HMRC.
US citizens are treated differently, however, and the IRS demand a share of their global income regardless of residency.

Cyners,
I'm sure the government would be quietly pleased to see inflation. I've said it many times previously, inflation is a stealth tax that can be used to devalue the level of public debt. If the government really felt that inflation was a priority, they'd quickly bring it back by pressing the MPC into raising interest rates.
I'm not really sure why it's that big an issue though. If you take the March CPI figures from 2009 through to 2013 as an example, between 2009 and 2010 UK CPI rose from 109.8 to 113.5 representing a 3.37% annual rise. And...
2010-2011 CPI 113.5->118.1 a rise of 4.05%
2011-2012 CPI 118.1->122.2 a rise of 3.47%
2012-2013 CPI 122.2->125.6 a rise of 3.40%
The trend is self-evident. What's the fuss about?

and apparently NOT linked to the jimmy savile "ring", though that is all pretty irrelevant ...... the scary bit is how widespread and common is child abuse in all its formats ..... clearly the "savile ring" was pretty extensive, seemingly helped to remain strongly active by collusion or even collaboration by higher echelons of the beeb ..... however, this sort of thing is really no different from what goes on in many if not most schools, the perpetrators x-linking ...... and nor should the widespread incidence of physical and sexual abuse within families be forgotten

There was a guy on TV this morning who had just crossed the line when the bomb went off. Later, he was returning home in Texas when his car shook violently as the chemical plant exploded. Probably staying in now for the near future.
