More bad news for Stanelco...Greenseal is a FAILURE...

Biotec patent challenges hit Stanelco - MoneyAM

Stanelco said trading expectations for the full year will be 'adversely affected' by patent challenges lodged against its joint venture company Biotec.

Trials of its Greenseal product showed the application is unlikely to lead to commercial sales.

The company put its plans to manufacture Biotec products in the US on hold and its sales and product pipeline from the 50-50 joint venture with SPhere SA is currently nascent and is expected to be developed over the next 18 months.

Underlying trading at its radio frequency application division remains steady, the company said.

In a trading update, the company said it is reviewing its cost base and has 11m in cash balance as at end-April.

Been out all day expected this massive sell off.But where is it? 38 mil buys Against 35 mil sells. Who are the people buying all these shares and Why? (Serious Question). Replys grateful 8-)

hlyeo98 - 29 May 2007 19:14 - 24533 of 27111

How to you go from 'on the cusp of commercialisation' for greenseal to ' no commercial value'
NO MMF , NO STARPOL sales.

This means a whole load of crap and BS the management told its shareholders previously...YOU CAN'T TRUST THEM.

Stanelco PLC
29 May 2007

Stanelco plc

('Stanelco' or the 'Company')

Disposal of assets

Further to the announcement in the trading statement released by the Company
this morning, that it has reached agreement to dispose of certain fixed assets
and stock of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Adept Polymers Limited ('Adept'), to
MonoSol AF Limited for cash consideration of 494,000, the Board of Stanelco
announces the following additional information.

Adept previously developed and manufactured a range of biodegradable plastics.
As announced in the Company's preliminary results statement on 21 March 2007,
Adept's manufacturing facilities were closed during the 14 month period ended 31
December 2006, and the sale of assets is therefore expected to have no impact on
the ongoing business of the Company. The book value of the assets now being
sold, following a write-off related to the closure of the manufacturing
facilities, is 239,000. During the 14 months ended 31 December 2006, Adept
made a loss before tax of 2.12 million.

The sale proceeds will be used to provide additional working capital for
Stanelco.

There were a few posters on here who said they had contacts close to SEO , they must have had some idea what was happening, the people at ASDA must have known about Greenseal long ago.And that would have been price sensitive info and a RNS should have been posted

johnny the fox - 29 May 2007 20:20 - 24537 of 27111

The words 'hole' & 'plug' spring to mind!

garyble - 29 May 2007 20:25 - 24538 of 27111

Hey guys & gals, this was only the result of a "Preliminary Review":

"Following the appointment of Paul Mines as Chief Executive Officer of the
Company on 16 April 2007, a preliminary review of the business operations of the
Company has been conducted. The results of that review were presented to the
Board on 25 May 2007"

garyble - 29 May 2007 20:55 - 24539 of 27111

Cash at end of 2006 was 12.9m, cash at end of April 2007 was 11m: 1.9 in 4 months........burn rate seems to have been unaffected.

Tonyrelaxes - 29 May 2007 21:18 - 24540 of 27111

Adept were (I believe - must check back) doing the "further testing" required to make the biodegradable cigarette filter project saleable.

What happens now ?

explosive - 29 May 2007 21:43 - 24541 of 27111

Well we were all robbed on this one, good for nothing more then offsetting CGT for the year ahead.

explosive - 29 May 2007 21:58 - 24543 of 27111

Each to their own Micky but for me its too long to wait and I've put the hours in researching elsewhere. Unless something happens soon the offset looks favourable.

Cantlose - 29 May 2007 22:27 - 24544 of 27111

Anyone feel they are being shafted by the new administration?

The RNS issued today portrayed only negative information regarding SEO ; & that by someone who has only been in the job for just over a month (following a strategic review by a bunch of mates from the City no doubt).

Seems like the idea is to drive down the SP ;secure options at ludicrously low levels & then sell on the company via an MBO or straight sale to Sphere.

What have the large investors (eg)Schroeders) to lose; as they bought in mainly at 0.7p.

Scandalous.

garyble - 29 May 2007 22:36 - 24545 of 27111

Well said Cantlose, the thought had crossed my mind, but considered it far too obvious to be a realistic tactic.

I would love to think that the new management are biting the bullet and wiping the slate clean, but have been disappointed too many times on this one!

micky468 - 29 May 2007 22:47 - 24546 of 27111

the sp will go up tomorrow your be lucky to buy in at this price again if you do nothing more this year then buy at this price you;ve had a good year.but plaese dont let me do your research for you.

stay lucky........or make your own luck

garyble - 29 May 2007 23:15 - 24547 of 27111

Go on micky, pull the other one........the number of times I've heard that old chestnut!

greekman - 30 May 2007 07:27 - 24548 of 27111

Micky,

You may be right re the big players not selling, but we need a couple of days to be sure as if they put their holdings out to sale, they may drip feed into the market without a news release for 48 hours. Also they may not show as traded for the same time span.

As for the question someone asked re where is the panic when buys were almost up with sells and why. The answer is day traders. Some will have bought at -0.6p and sold at +0.7p. A few 100,000 at that still makes a tidy profit.
Yesterday SEO was a day traders dream. (I did not day trade, mores the pity).

As to my view of SEO. It has always been a sky high or bust share and I bought on that understanding. And yes it looks like the bust side will win, but if you go into a share with this philosophy, you take the knocks as you go.

Several years ago I learned the hard way, that you don't put anything but spare money into a share like SEO. A bit like a horse race, don't put more on than you can afford to loose.

Yes I am well down at the moment by percentage but not at a huge money loss (my average buy is 7.2p). For those who have little or no sympathy with those showing big losses fair enough as that is the name of the game, BUT I can't understand those who gloat (of course most of the gloater's saw it coming and got out with huge profits, yer right).

As said I learned the hard way. But we all have to learn.

Show me an investor/trader who says they always get it right and I will show you a lier.

micky468 - 30 May 2007 07:45 - 24549 of 27111

greekman

were cynic did someone call he name................lol look i think your right in all that you've said and in this game what i found is you have to make your own luck how many times have we said i wish or i new but still when it put on a plate for us how many of as take the chance me i think they will be wishing i will buy today as soon as the market opens 3000.000 i;ll take the dive in the deep end . and maybe ill get the gold m...

greekman - 30 May 2007 07:50 - 24550 of 27111

Micky,

My own feeling is to keep clear, but best of luck anyway.

With 8 mins to go to opening I have never seen the order book for SEO so empty. No doubt everyone is just waiting for the first market maker to give an opening lead. Treading very lightly, and tip toeing springs to mind.
