Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

why is fred an arsehole?
well he talks out of his arse an awful lot, and when he doesn't it tends to be sulphurous hot air anyway

do i think hilary always talks sense?
no, and sometimes i don't entirely understand what she writes, but for sure it's better balanced and thought out than a lot of the others' garbage

Back to the Tobin Tax,
In the UK, and across Europe we all paid to bail out the banks, and still doing so. These proposed financial transaction taxes are small but significant steps in ensuring the banks begin to pay their fair share. And that £30 billion would provide vital funds.
The City of London could be hit by the tax if, for example, a British firm trades with branches of French or German banks based in London. This is the exact same mechanism as the UK's very own stamp duty on shares which nets the UK £3 billion a year.

It would be nice if UKIP did well in David Miliband's old seat as it is a Labour seat. That might be the result of Labour having a wishywashy attitude to the EU.

Wishywashy attitude to the EU????.
Dont think so.
If anyones got a wishywashy attitude to the EU its the Tories, hence UKIPs great strength at the moment.

there's been some interesting, sensible and balanced comment by political commentators on BBC1 this morning from which the ranters on both sides here might have gained something if they bothered to listen.

I see Labour's share of the vote dropped in South Shields, despite their reliance of the fact that 50% of all the votes were postal. That means that UKIP took many votes from Labour, probably due yo their terrible policies on immigration.

did none of you ever learn how to view and comment in a balanced way? .... seemingly not
there was a ukip spokesman on the BBC just now, and i'm afraid he did not come across at all well .... if ukip are indeed to be taken seriously for the long(er) term, then they have a lot of work to do, especially with regard to presentation (farage certainly knows what he's doing), and of course fleshing out policies that can be properly and well presented .... at the moment, ukip makes a lot of noise, but lack electable substance

UP to 500 tory seats could be lost just reported on sky news.!!!!
300 was considered a disaster this last weekend.
If replicated at general election in 2015, it would leave a overall outright Labour government.
