required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

That poll is very bad news for Haystack and wills. Not to mention Dave :-)

Haystack - 27 May 2016 23:59 - 2469 of 12628

Not bad news for me. I want to leave the EU.

Dil - 28 May 2016 02:24 - 2470 of 12628

I think I heard one of the worst arguments ever for staying in the EU tonight just before I left the pub.

No time to debate it with him but now I've had a think about since getting home it doesn't make sense.

His daughter is in USA doing last year of degree but has to leave when her education finishes and can't work there unless she been there three years. He says if she had studied in EU she could have worked , stayed , blah blah blah.

Surely :

1 - if she had wanted to study/get a job in EU that's where she would have gone (only my mate/his daughter can answer that) but she went to USA.

2 - Hasn't the EU been trying to sort a trade deal etc (including this type of thing) with the US for 10 years with no agreement ?

So because she gotta come home after studying in USA as she not allowed to work there the EU is better cos she could have / can work there.

.. geez i've had a few but he's a bleedin lecturer and I'm a thicko (according to my kids), am I missing something here ?

'Call me Dave' (snake oil salesman) wants to call a truce on all his dodgy
claims and says we should all be civil.

Its strange he wants to be all nice and chummy, wonder if its anything
to do with 'PURDAH' coming into force yesterday, when the government can't
use government dept's for their biased reports or the pro-eu mandarins of the
treasury dept and its documents.

We'l see how civil he intends to be a couple of days before the referendum
when the IMF are due to do a 'Pro-EU' press conference....

Mr Miliband also told BBC Breakfast that polls suggested younger people were more likely to vote to remain in the EU by three to one, and that older people should "heed the wisdom of the young".

Alders, what do you expect from a man who can stab his own brother in the back! And is a Labour MP?

2517GEORGE - 28 May 2016 21:08 - 2477 of 12628

Talking of Labour MP's, very quiet aren't they, surely if they continue to take a minimum of around £68k each the electorate should expect something more from them regarding an issue as important as the referendum?

David Cameron and George Osborne 'too rich' to care about migration, claims cabinet minister Priti Patel

By Tim Ross, Senior Political Correspondent

David Cameron and other leading pro-Europeans do not care about the effects of mass migration on working families because they are so rich, according to a cabinet minister.

Priti Patel claims the “luxury” lifestyles of campaigners who want to stay in the EU mean they are “insulated” from the impact of rising immigration on the daily lives of millions of Britons.

She says it is “shameful” that the Remain campaign leaders fail to consider the struggles of families who, unlike them, cannot afford private health care or fee-paying schools.

Although she does not directly name Mr Cameron and George Osborne, she repeatedly makes clear she is aiming her criticism at the “leaders” of the Remain campaign, who include the Prime Minister and the Chancellor.

In remarks that will deepen the divide at the top of the Tory Party, Ms Patel claims many Remain campaigners only see the benefits of migration, such as cheap domestic help and willing tradesmen.

But the Conservatives will never be able to honour their election promise to cut migration because it is impossible to control the border while Britain is in the EU, she says.

In an article for The Telegraph website, Ms Patel, the employment minister, writes: “It’s shameful that those leading the pro-EU campaign fail to care for those who do not have their advantages.

"Their narrow self-interest fails to pay due regard to the interests of the wider public.”

Exactly that .

Fred1new - 29 May 2016 09:25 - 2483 of 12628

I think there is a large degree of tory hypocrisy being expressed by Priti Patel.

MaxK - 29 May 2016 09:34 - 2484 of 12628

Trust you to find a negative Fred.

So, your position is that you agree with Cameroon, everythings fine in the garden?

I have always had weeds in my garden!

I just keep them down by pulling them out.
