The new capacity is said to be 100,000 tons annually - Would sphere have gone to the expense of increasing the capacity so drastically if the sales potential wasn't there?

If 10,000 tons was worth 20m, presumably 100,000 tons will be worth in the region of 200m.

More questions than answers (as usual)
Why would WM be interested in Biotecs silos? They don't make a single thing from any kind of plastic. They do buy a lot of plastic things though.
Why would SEO be so honest about GS being a dead duck, but not say that about Starpol, unless Starpol were still a runner?
Why would Biotec increase production capacity so hugely, so quickly? Not because France wants degradable plastic bags 3 years from now.
Why would SEO say that there are developments over the next 18 months or so? I wonder how long it takes Biotec to commission the production and then work up to capacity. How long does it take SEO to convert the granules to product and then put it to use?
Finally, I remember (in a hazy kind of way) about 12 months ago reporting that I had been told that while Asda liked Greenseal, they were far more turned on by Starpol and its possibilities. GS is dead. The obituary has been written. Is it possible that Starpol is merely critical in intensive care?
I am still 99% certain SEO have got everything they have done wrong, but 1% of me is now asking if Asda / WM have told them they have no interest in a problematical GS, but would love Starpol. SEO have agreed to manufacture it in quantity, but SPhere have stopped them doing so by insisting that Biotec can produce sufficiently high quantities to fulfill any contract. WM / Asda have agreed to a 2008 start date and to show capability, Biotec have invited them to see some serious production investment.
All theoretical, and probably bullshit and pipe dreams. But you gotta have a dream (especially when you invest in this dross).
This is not what I think is happening, just a stab in the dark to spark debate.

The key to all this and the cancelling of the MMP's in the states may be potatos - they may be more easily obtainable and cheaper than the corn that would have been used in the States. SPhere have sourced a huge supply of potatos, possibly at good prices, and I would imagine, though not sure, that potatos grow quicker and are more easily harvested.

Is the Sphere flotation not scheduled for July?

The questions were rhetorical. I came to that conclusion myself as a possibilty (no more than that).
Its just it seemed to grow stronger when I re-read the statement and earlier RNS and seemed to create a credible story. I just dare not entertain it as a serious thing!!
When I remembered a summer chat with my imaginary friend where he said (and I posted on here) the there was interest in GS but excitement in Starpol, I had a giddy attack and had to lie down in a darkened room.
Part of me wants this to be true, but strangely a part of me wants you all to disprove it, so I can forget SEO and this dark chapter.

I won't rubbish your post Alan, I have always maintained that Starpol is the key to SEO's success (or, hopefully not, final downfall) it does concern me however, that there is no mention of Stanelco in the present plans of SPhere and Biotec. None that I can see anyway.

surely the question is whether Stanelco share 50% of Biotec profit. If they do, they dont need to be mentioned specifically - Biotec = 50% Stanelco.

Please excuse my present positive position! If you read back through the thread you'll see that prior to the 'silo' news I had been very negative since before the open offer when many of you were still positive.

I'd previously based my hopes on Greenseal, and it was obvious last year that was going nowhere. This new development is much more exciting and , it would appear at the moment, there is less that could go wrong. A firm time-scale has been set.

Of course, there is one thing that could go wrong.....

Oblo, knowing SEO's history of getting things right, right means wrong in their case, it wouldn't surprise me too much to find out that they had overlooked some clause which would exclude them from future deals between Sphere and Biotec! Looking on the bright side though, maybe SEO could Starpol wrap potatoes at source to keep them fresh prior to delivery to Biotec's shiny new silos, after all they wouldn't want to fill them with rotten potatoes, would they?

I've lost my undies on this share having a substantial holding in an ISA. Still holding this worthless C---. Surely this company has an obligation to it'd shareholders to inform them what is going on regarding Biotec etc especially as there website is at present like their share price. RUBBISH

won't be buying a single further share until a deal is on paper and it is blatantly obvious that SEO are still a player with a 50% stake of a profit, as opposed to a 100% ownership of an RNS and past record that I would'nt wipe my privates with.
If the business is NASCENT and a RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE then there is a long upside........ Given the position and cost of an SEO share these days, I somehow doubt I'll miss the boat should it blue sky.
At present it's all still very much JAM TOMORROW..............
