CLOSING MARKET REPORT

Lloyds Banking Group was up 1.9p at 63p, after announcing it is to close its Cheltenham & Gloucester building society branch network, cutting 1,500 jobs in the process.

nordcaperen - 09 Jun 2009 18:12 - 251 of 5370

Mrsi - only because I feel the big institutions will bail out with 10 -15 % profit and another possible buying opportunity will be available. 500 profit will do nicely at a time, but buying another 20k in a Sipp for the longer term.

optomistic - 09 Jun 2009 19:40 - 252 of 5370

I really don't like the self centered attitude of MSRI, regrettably I have had to squelch him, the only person I have squelched on am so no doubt he will consider himself very privileged.

BROKER CALL: From pit pony to racing thoroughbred
10 June, 2009 08:33:03 AM

Deutsche Bank reckons Lloyds Banking Group's rehabilitation began yesterday with the closure of Cheltenham & Gloucester. Cost cutting, reshaping and a recovery of the economy should all help to transform the black horse bank. Broker says buy up to 100p a share and adds: 'We expect LBG to lose money this year and next but to provide the equity market with more and more evidence of longer-term earnings power as the credit cycle matures and as cost synergies are delivered. We believe the group will report trough TNAV of 101p at end 2010 and is capable of 9p of earnings whilst official interest rates remain at current levels, rising to 15.6p on a fully recovered basis.'

At 67p +4p

best of the day so far, at this price someone ( nordcaperen ) should be taking profits.

I would take the shares for a ride and wait for more to come

RED IS BARC.

nordcaperen - 10 Jun 2009 11:58 - 259 of 5370

Against my better judgement, Im going to let them ride Mrsi. My Hawk shares more than compensate (in @ .26p).
Thinks looking slightly better - more job cuts and branch closures sets them up well for the future.

BARC has performed better than LLOY lately, but may I say you are using the wrong graph, last month were the PLacing has not been updated on the chart for LLOY after the large 0.6213 for 1 share and large discount to share price.

If you read past post share price at around 100p should be = to 66.50p after placing but still showing at the same price

MIDDAY MARKET REPORT

Financial stocks were also buoyant, as Barclays ticked up 3.5p at 293.5p
on expectations that a deal with BlackRock will be announced later today.
Royal Bank of Scotland topped the sector gainers, up 2.6p at 38.7p,
while Lloyds gained 4.2p at 67.2p, as investors reflected on news
they are to close their Cheltenham & Gloucester network.

smarty - 10 Jun 2009 12:55 - 265 of 5370

Lloyds currently reviewing potential of property disposals. Expect a couple of large disposals in next few months. Unofficially, Unions told to expect 20,000 job losses over 3 years. My insiders in Lloyds ( I worked for them for over 32 Years) say to expect 35,000/40,000). Hmmmm Remember, you read it here first!

smarty - 10 Jun 2009 13:00 - 266 of 5370

...by the way, after C&G closes in November, expect 1000's more Branch closures. The least profitable of Halifax/Lloyds TSB Branches in same Town will close. Watch this space.
