And with a spread of that size, no one was interested in making any sort of market.
As to why the 12.5% increase, I just wish I knew why.

Iankn73 - 02 Aug 2007 17:17 - 24980 of 27111

Hi halifax, I have NO intention of investing further in Stan Laurel & Co as I had already bought in at 1.72 over a year ago and will sit tight!

hangon - 02 Aug 2007 17:33 - 24981 of 27111

MM games, perhaps?
I noted that Shares ran an article on "Green Technologies" - - - er, and didn't mention SEO.....Execs might be busy getting deals with supermarkets and who else? . . . .

Bargepoles, the sooner these Directors are ejected the better, IMHO.

halifax - 02 Aug 2007 20:46 - 24982 of 27111

Although I said dont get sucked in perhaps the word should be suckered? Beware of Barclays and others trying to make a quick buck.

greekman - 03 Aug 2007 07:42 - 24983 of 27111

Unless there was a large scale buyer in the wings, here was no other reason for such a spread except no one wanted a market. It's not the mm's playing games as they need to make a market to encourage dealing. That's how they earn their money.
If no one is interested, that's it full stop.
PI's are sitting and waiting, as those who wanted to be out feel they have missed the chance and are now in to the finish. There is very little interest in buying either.
As for the institutions, some appear to be tweaking their holdings a bit (very little value increases/decreases), but most are sitting on such big losses, they are also sitting tight just hoping like the rest of us. For the institutions it's a bit late to jump ship. They are hoping for a bit of face saving.
Stanelco are becoming more and more an illiquid share. Who is going to deal with a plus 10% spread. At least it makes this share a no way bet for day traders.
If the spread narrows drastically and stays that way for a whole day, with the buyers leading it that might just might be a hint of something brewing
Only dramatic news good or bad will alter this.
All obviously IMHO.

everyone very quiet, must be in shock. lets hope monday is as good or will they go back to normal. ( back down) lets hope not.

garyble - 05 Aug 2007 08:17 - 24985 of 27111

No real "apparent" reason for the rise so back down she goes!

Falcothou - 05 Aug 2007 09:07 - 24986 of 27111

Could be MM's trying to stimulate a bit of volume

trebletrouble - 06 Aug 2007 23:28 - 24987 of 27111

lankin73

I bought in today for second time after losing loads (and I mean loads)! a while back. Where do you think the price will go from here? I know it would just be an educated guess but what do you think?

My daughter is getting married in a few months, all paid for but I would love to upgrade the wedding gift.

maggiebt4 - 07 Aug 2007 00:05 - 24988 of 27111

Silver wedding present??? Sorry couldn't resist but can't see this moving in the immediate future. Mind you hope I'm wrong.

Don't depress me.

trebletrouble - 08 Aug 2007 18:12 - 24991 of 27111

Very, very happy with my investment!!!!! Over the next 4 to 6 weeks this should do well.

lostalot - 08 Aug 2007 19:40 - 24992 of 27111

treble

Based on what ????

greekman - 10 Aug 2007 18:52 - 24993 of 27111

It shows the state of the markets when the best share in my portfolio is Stanelco.
What a lousy day. SEO are one of the very few not showing red.
I think it realy shows that most holders still in are there till the bitter end.

halifax - 10 Aug 2007 21:11 - 24994 of 27111

How do you like your bitter?

boldtrader - 11 Aug 2007 08:37 - 24995 of 27111

Bitter!!

Tonyrelaxes - 13 Aug 2007 17:35 - 24996 of 27111

Well, someone has to break the silence...

There is a predictable 'stonewalling' reply from the FD over on ADVFN -post 85240. This has started me thinking a bit (always dangerous).

Do we know anything about the patent challenge other than that which was mentioned in the 29 May Trading Statement?

For example - Who is mounting the challenge? On what grounds? Against which BioTech product/process? Is it regional or World Wide?

Sorry if I have missed this, I have only recently returned from 8 weeks in the wilderness (literally, at times) and not had much time to catch up.

oblomov - 13 Aug 2007 20:30 - 24997 of 27111

I've not seen anything other than the mention in the trading statement , Tony.

Nothing on PM1's site - I'm sure he wouldn't have missed anything new on it.

Tonyrelaxes - 13 Aug 2007 23:22 - 24998 of 27111
