MoneyAM Xmas Lunch Awards 2006 (VOTE)

IanT(MoneyAM) - 23 Nov 2006 09:15

Roll up Roll up for the seasons most eagerly anticipated awards ceremony..well since last year's award ceremony anyway!

Yes it is that time of year again when we ask you to vote for the MoneyAM Xmas Lunch Awards 2006. Competition as always will be fierce as all the categories are once again hotly contested. On a special note, although thousands of you will no doubt want to cast a vote for me in some of the more esteemed categories, however, as co presenter I am ineligible. This is to ensure the integrity of these awards (plus I count the votes, so that would hardly be fair). Having said that I am hoping to be up for the lifetime achievement award in 2015, which gives me plenty of time to work on the speech!

So here we go ladies and gentlemen, I give you the categories:

Thread of the Year 2006

Trader of the Year 2006

Poster of the Year 2006

Ramper of the Year 2006

Most Helpful Poster 2006

Funniest Poster 2006

MoneyAM Users Special Award 2006 (Vote for a fellow poster and let us know why they deserve an award)

To vote for any of the awards above, simply add your comments here or alternatively please send your selections to ian@moneyam.com

We will total up the votes using the US General Election automated vote counters from the Florida ballot of 2001 to ensure complete fairness and impartiality :)

Awards will be presented on Friday 8th December at the lunch if we can be heard over the inevitable heckling!

markusantonius - 27 Nov 2006 15:45 - 33 of 78

Ian, Herewith my votes.....

Thread of the Year 2006: -
The 'GOLF' thread by PTHolden (because it has encouraged huge debate and attracted an ever increasing audience, incl. non-golfers!).

Trader of the Year 2006: -
Anyone who has 'shorted' my Portfolio (enough said on this subject!).

Poster of the Year 2006: -
Markusantonius (because of the discrete, professional and grammatically error-free way in which he posts without being unduly offensive or using any foul language whatsoever!).

Ramper of the Year 2006: -
EWRobson (because he still thinks that Stanelco will make him a m*naire and expresses himself with such aristocratic charm!).

Most Helpful Poster 2006: -
=EWRobson (Eric does explain himself very clearly and tries to justify his statements with substance - he does get it right sometimes!).
=Ruth (because she's answered all of my questions and put herself out to make me feel very welcome, at the latest NW Night Out!).

Funniest Poster 2006: -
Chocolat ("Oh, blimey!").

MoneyAM Users Special Award 2006 (Vote for a fellow poster and let us know why they deserve an award): -
Markusantonius (because M/AM has cost The Shark over 20k indirectly by "listening" to some of its posters!).

explosive - 27 Nov 2006 18:51 - 34 of 78

IanT - Any chance we can have some stats please e.g. most posted thread, biggest poster, poster with most threads.... Wonder who'll win the obsessed with moneyam award then?? Will be back either way with my nominations, just thought the info would be of interest.

markusantonius - 27 Nov 2006 21:25 - 35 of 78

Ian, Any chance we can have a "Most Sensitive Poster Award", please?

I hereby nominate: PTHolden.

ptholden - 28 Nov 2006 20:46 - 36 of 78

err
Can we have the 'biggest tosser award', answers on a post card.
Enjoy :-)

markusantonius - 28 Nov 2006 22:35 - 37 of 78

Sorry, Pete, but you are not allowed to vote for yourself apparently!
So perhaps you may wish to withdraw your Q. (above) to Ian?

stockbunny - 30 Nov 2006 14:32 - 38 of 78

Thread of the year - has to be the Traders Thread
Boyse and Ruth jointly for trader of the year
Poster of the year has to be Boyse - cheers for the Nymex charts!

Trader of the Year 2006 - CC ; he just tells it how it is - all the ups and downs, runner up Gausie for the IOT research he did.

Poster of the Year 2006 - Boyse - just posts the stuff whether he thinks anyone's looking or not. And he's always one step ahead with his trading ideas.

Most Helpful Poster 2006 - Hilary - for having the patience of a saint with all the questions she's asked on the Forex thread.

This_is_me - 05 Dec 2006 17:02 - 42 of 78

I would like to vote for myself, since being male, I still think of myself as wonderful as the wife told me I was before we got married. Although I must admit that despite her constant efforts to improve me, she thinks I now have lots of faults. Some of these are a figment of her imagination eg. I do not watch too much sport, nor do I waste valuable time posting drivel on non stock threads on various BBs.

In support of my claim for trader of the year I would like to mention the high regard my trading skills are held by Gordon Brown; judging by the letter he sent me last week demanding huge amounts of CGT. (I seem to have been so clever this tax year that he might not send me a similar letter next year, but that is another story)

Ramper of the year is one award that I am not so confident about winning, but I am willing to give it a go now! BUY WIN (WNN) and help Me win ramper of the year. This key part of Me portfolio is in the mobile phone business, which, as my children tell me regularly, is no longer about making 'phone calls (!) They don't agree with my view that it is about parting the young from their money, but since the latest RNS from the winning Win (epic:WNN) indicates everyone should put all their portfolio in this wonderful company please liquidate all your holdings, raid the children's piggy banks and do so!!!!

A wonderful tip like this shows what a helpful poster Me is.

Funniest poster of the year award might, I appreciate, be more difficult to give Me after this serious, intellectual post, but go on, you might as well give Me that too - you know it makes sense!

MightyMicro - 05 Dec 2006 17:15 - 43 of 78

Oi, Jules

Poster of the year....... Big Al as he is never too busy to get that weekend thread up

Yes he bloody is -- how many times this year have we had to recycle one of his old ones because he wouldn't get out of bed?

Jules - 05 Dec 2006 18:08 - 44 of 78

Derek... ok then, you can have the prize;-)
