Millwall Holdings plc - a "Wise" punt on European or Premiership football? (MWH)

thestatusquo - 17 Mar 2004 14:44

St. Patrick's day has gone to my head! One Bushmills too many!!!

I know, I know, Ive heard it all before, football stocks only for the true & genuine fans!

Today I fancied a gamble on the turnaround in fortunes of once struggling Millwall F.C.

Millwall last night booked their place in a lucrative FA Cup semi final at Old Trafford against Sunderland FC, and the chance to go to Cardiff for an FA Cup final and guaranteed UEFA Cup Football next season.

On top of this Millwall's playing revolution under Dennis Wise & Ray Wilkins has taken the club into the play-off positions for a possible place in the Premiership & all the associated increased revenue that would go with that.

All ifs & buts, but a few definitely maybe's. Football is a funny old game, and this stock is not for widows & orphans as they say.

Take a look tho! It can't do any harm to look?

just spent three and a half thousand on mill wall and the m.m put it down as a sell not very happy

jeffmack - 22 Mar 2004 09:27 - 26 of 77

The MM didnt put it as a sale. When the price comes through to MoneyAM the software tries to guess if it was a buy or sell depending on the price at the time the trade gets reported.

You can never take the buy/sell data at face value. And remember, for every buyer there is a seller and for every seller a buyer.

mine came up as a sale also, but I was just glad to get it at 0.25p, come on Millwall!!! I shall be cheering away in the FA cup semi-final

Another uptick this morning after an excellent result. If this form continues that 20million premiership pot could beckon.

It's tantalising to think that 90minutes football in the FA Cup semi can also have such a huge influence on the clubs finances.

Anyone any idea how much that UEFA Cup place would be worth? Wise & Wilkins have given this team a new hope of better times.

Contract talks to be opened with Dennis Wise and Ray Wilkins in the summer. Statement from Chairman says.

Ray Wilkins tells Skysports of goal of Premiership football next season.

All buys showing as sells, you can buy at 0.2525p. They have got wimbledon midweek away and should win to put them in the play offs (third place, one behind the automatic slot). A win against sunderland will give them europe, to give them europe, probably going to get premiership as well. What would Man City, Leeds, Spurs give for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tokyo - 24 Mar 2004 04:05 - 32 of 77

How many teams go up from the 1st Division to the premiership? How many go into the play offs?

ptholden - 24 Mar 2004 11:08 - 33 of 77

Two automatically promoted, four qualify for the playoffs, of which one will eventually be promoted.

ptholden will they win tonight if so will the price go up tomorrow.

Tokyo - 24 Mar 2004 13:23 - 35 of 77

ptholden - thanks for the info, the top two spots already look taken, but it's either Sunderland or Millwall for both the FA cup final & the promotion.

Come on Millwall, can't watch the match as it will be about 3.45am here when they kick off, but I'll be cheering in my sleep and wishing all holders goodluck

I am reading the thread out of interest, but otherwise have no interest if you see what I mean. I think football shares are a liitle risky to say the least: Two years ago who would have thought that all Leeds Utd shareholders would lose all of their investments.

Will Millwall win tonight? Well, yes they should beat Wimbledon, but if I could predict football results I would be rich. After their last League victory, the SP ticked up a fraction, but there is a long way to go yet before the playoffs, so win or lose it won't settle anything.

Personally, I think Millwall will lose to S'land in the FA Cup Semi. Rememeber Bob Stokoe died this year and S'land's players are battling in his memory. The FA Cup has some strange history and Sunderland winning in the year of their former managers demise, would be typical of the 'Cup'

I wish you all good luck.

A hard fought 1-0 win last night moves Millwall to 5th.

Now Walsall away on Saturday.

Tokyo - 25 Mar 2004 06:27 - 38 of 77

Wimbledon 0-1 Millwall
Cahill (left) scored the game's only goal
Millwall's Tim Cahill mounted further misery on Wimbledon as his sole strike cemented the Dons' position at the bottom of Division One.

Wimbledon are now 15 points behind second-bottom Bradford City, while the Lions are eight points off the top.

The home side were boosted by the return of Wayne Gray fron a knee injury but were devoid of ideas throughout.

And their margin of defeat could have been wider but Danny Dichio's late goal was ruled out, with Cahill offside.

Warren Barton almost sealed an undeserved point for Wimbledon in the last minute of normal time but his 30-yard strike was comfortably saved by Andy Marshall.

The win stretched Millwall's superb run under coach and former Wimbledon star Dennis Wise.

They have now lost just once in their last 15 games.

Millwall certainly have an excellent winning streak at the moment, checked their previous games against Sunderland and they won both of those too!!!!

Lets hope this streak continues!!

good luck to all Millwall holders

slmchow - 25 Mar 2004 11:45 - 42 of 77

Can someone tell me if the company owns the New Den stadium and land that it sits on. If so what is the approx value of that?

Tokyo - 26 Mar 2004 16:37 - 43 of 77

around 450,000,000 shares just sold way below the bid price, something going on?

slmchow - 27 Mar 2004 02:02 - 44 of 77

Tokyo

This is one of the reason why chairman sold 250,000,000 (see RNS news) but there is still 200,000,000 to account for???
The team just needs to keep on winning. So roll on!! Walsall this afternoon
