27 Hole G0LF EVENT - Thursday 8th June 2006 (G0LF)

markusantonius - 14 Feb 2006 21:35

* M0NEY-AM G0LF DAY EVENT: 27 HOLES, INCL. SUSTENANCE & PRIZES (IN ADDITION TO M0NEY-AM SPONSORED PRIZES!) on: -
THURSDAY, 08 JUNE, 2006 *

So several months have passed... Based on the success of last Summer's Event at Longcliffe G.C., a few of you have asked me to take over the reigns from PTH and organise another G0LF M0NEY-AM DAY again based in the MIDLANDS. This is fairEST to the majority coming from all over the UK! From initial feedback (reflecting on 2005 36-Hole hot mid-Summer's day!), the popular view for a 2006 Event has been agreed, as follows: -

* Tea/Coffee on arrival.
* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.

(** ADDITIONAL PRIZES from our generous SPONSORS include: - 3 months worth of Shares Magazine sent to the homes of EACH COMPETITOR every week. The Overall Winner will get The Money-AM Annual Golf Challenge Cup to keep for good plus 1 year's worth of Money-AM Level 2 service worth 357.50 + Vat. The Runner-Up and Third Placed Winners will each get a medal to keep plus 6 months' level 2.)

Venue: - H0RSLEY L0DGE G.C., Belper, Derbyshire (Championship Meadowland Course with American-type Greens). Refreshments will be in the On-Site Kingfisher Restaurant. Entry Fee is: - 60 per Competitor which will cover all of the above ** plus enough to buy some additional golfing prizes.

Markus , the new first hole at 597 yards off yellows is a long one , also the 16th at 249 yards with 220 yard carry over water is a good par 3 . Any other changes !

markusantonius - 04 May 2006 10:02 - 253 of 505

LOL, Fliper! If only we could play off White Tees in June - a lot fairer test, eh?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 May 2006 11:03 - 254 of 505

Mark,

I will be ordering the tophy and the medals soon (beginning of next week), and will make sure that they are sent up to you in good time for the day,

Ian

EWRobson - 04 May 2006 13:26 - 255 of 505

Well done, Ian. Pity, though, that I have to go far to collect my prizes! Eric

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 May 2006 13:30 - 256 of 505

Just to let you know the E mail is also ready and will be sent out this afternoon.

Ian

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 May 2006 14:43 - 257 of 505

OK guys, the E mail has gone out now so should be hitting peoples inbox (those that are registered to receive mails from us) this afternoon.

It includes details of the day and asks them to visit this thread for further information and to sign up if they want to.

Regret but am already otherwise engaged (on a golf course!) ...... Mind you, Derbyshire for me, is a hell of drive (and a wedge!)

fliper - 04 May 2006 21:28 - 261 of 505

BROCK123 - 04 May 2006 21:40 - 262 of 505

I am new to moneyam, but am keen to play in the golf competion on 8 Jun 06.

Can wives/partners attend the evening meal?.

Also can I bring an additional male golfer?

We are both particularly poor golfers (handicap 20), but we have both had 2 holes in one.

Would also appreciate details of available accommodation.

Thanks

BROCK 123

Good evening, Brock and welcome to M-AM, sir!

1. Yes, by all means, to bringing wives/partners/friends/mistresses and so on to the evening meal (Bob Colby brought 2 last year - and the more the merrier!) as long as I know in advance. They will simply pay for the 3-course meal, nothing else.

2. No, to inviting additional guest-golfers, I'm afraid. However there is a very easy way around this... Get your friend to enrol onto M-AM (I am sure Ian Taylor will guide you/him through the process). I actually posed the same Q. at the Longcliffe Event and was given the same response - which is fair enough because the M-AM prizes are 100%-investment related albeit I will also be handing out my own small golf-related prizes, as well.

3. Yes, 20 easily qualifies you both. Handicap limit is: 28 so you both comfortably fit the criteria. Just peruse the existing entries (above) - the spread is wide - and last year's winner (EWRobson) also plays off 20 (el bandito!).

4. Yes, of course, to helping out with accommodation as the Club provides hotel rooms. I have secured Eric the best ensuite room overlooking the 9th. green but there are others available. Once your entry & cheque has been confirmed, just contact me directly and I will sort this out for you. Otherwise there are plenty of B&B's close by (depending on your budget?).

5. Any other Q.'s - then please feel free to ask either myself or Ian T. I must stick to the deadlines due to scarce tee-off times on the day. But, if you are hovering on whether to join us or not, then please don't hesitate! You only have to read the threads (and last year's PTHolden threads) to realise how much of a great time we all have together. Great banter amongst like minded people.

EWRobson - 04 May 2006 22:49 - 264 of 505

Markus: worth mentioning that you can register with MoneyAM for free! He may be a canny Scot or Yorkshireman! Eric

BROCK123 - 05 May 2006 12:14 - 266 of 505

Thanks for the info.

At the moment there will only be myself attending.

Cheque in the post today.

I would also like a single room at the Golf Club for the night of the 8th June.

Thanks

Brock 123 Alias Tom Greenley

IanT(MoneyAM) - 05 May 2006 12:26 - 267 of 505

Brock,

As soon as the cheque is received into the office, I will forward it onto Mark.

Ian

markusantonius - 05 May 2006 12:45 - 268 of 505

That's great, Tom (Brock). I will confirm your entry once Ian has forwarded the cheque but you are herewith pencilled in to join us!

I have just actioned your Hotel request and have placed you in the adjacent room to Eric. You need to proceed, as follows: -

Ring: The Club on: 01332 780838. Select option "1" and tell the receptionist that you are "in Mark's party on the 8th. June". She is expecting your call and 'The Byron' suite is now reserved for you (with discount!).

Any problems, then just e-mail me directly and I will sort it.

Regards,

Mark.

Brock123,

You are now in 'The Byron' suite instead: slightly smaller room but overlooks the Course/a "beautiful view...!", I am reliably informed.

fliper - 06 May 2006 10:44 - 271 of 505

Markus , new format for the 9 holes ? ( now 9 )
