Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

That's fair enough, doods, each to their own and probably 90% of it is unadulterated crap, but I would say it's very good for live news stories because eye witnesses tweet what they've seen and you get a lot of stories appearing on Twitter before the mainstream press get hold of them. For instance, when the plane crash landed on the Hudson a few years back, there were photos from eye witnesses on Twitter straight away.
I also think it's very useful for traders as a kind of sentiment index because fellow traders will disseminate news releases within seconds and offer an opinion on Twitter as to whether they think that the news is good, bad or ugly. And if you want to know who's controlling a book, I can guarantee you'll find it on Twitter.

You only have to see the nonsense that gf picks up from twitter to see it is the home of crazies and nutty activists who think they are taken seriously apart from their similarly nutty fans,

You're possibly missing the point, cyners. The news itself comes from the likes of Reuters, so it should hopefully be accurate. The reaction and opinion of anybody who chooses to disseminate that news doesn't have to be accurate in a sentiment driven market. I'm only interested in what the sentiment is, not whether their view or opinion is right. But to be clear about this, I wouldn't take on board the views of any old Tom, Dick or Harry - it's only worthwhile following hedge fund managers and other respected market professionals and commentators with a sufficiently receptive audience that is capable of driving the market.
You only have to see the nonsense that gf picks up from twitter...
You really think I pay any attention to what Numb Nuts says or thinks? Shame on you!

Even James Callaghan, who was Labour Chancellor for a few years never even went to university. Ken Clarke widely regarded as one of the best Chancellors did a law degree. It is not necessary to have an economics degree or to be an economist to be Chancellor. The treasury does the economics policy analysis. It is up to the Chancellor to set the policy.

22 May 2013 15:43
A UKIP donor who said unmarried mothers should be "given a good smack" has said he will give no more money to the party because of the controversy about his views.
Demetri Marchessini, who has made two donations totalling £10,000 to the party, wrote a book arguing women who wear trousers are demonstrating "hostile behaviour".
He told the BBC he stood by his views.
"All my thoughts are traditional thoughts," he said.
