Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Goldfinger, I feel it is of very little use to join you or tanker or fred in discussion as you are unable to discuss, it seems to me that you all seem to believe that you are the way and the light, and nobody elses views are tollerable. Nobody is that correct.

Tend to find though migrants in US live the US way, whereas here a lot want to set up gettos and live the way they did in their country of birth rather than take on the British life. When I lived in US all differing races etc mixed and got on well.
And yes if you havent contributed a minimum amount no services should be available to you unless you pay for them. If you have insurance that would be ok.
This is where I disagree with a lot of people, even if you are a millionaire and contributed you should get winter fuel help, free bus pass and free prescriptions.
If you havented contributed you get nothing, simple as that.

Read part of Putin’s Speech:
On February 4th, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:
"In Russia live Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law. Russia does not need minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Russian customs and traditions AR e not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of most minorities. When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the national interest first, observing that the minorities are not Russians."
The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a standing ovation for FIVE minutes.

Ahoj and others. There is very much that is being said about what we would like to see happening to imigrants into this country that i support, but, I also understand that there is no instant solution. We as a nation and as leader of the commonwealth have encouraged and in many ways welcomed newcomers into here as it has suited us very well. It does not suit as now but u cannot just turn the tap off. i agree that do here as we would do, honour our laws and respect our society, we in turn will help you to settle but not with an open ended parcel of money. remember that most of those abusing the welfare system are born in this county, but i would also stop the way that family support can be transfered back to the original homeland, this is too generous. I would also stop all overseas aid to corrupt governments(who decides the term corrupt as in some countries corruption is the norm).
Putin and Russia has been mentioned , much easier for them to make the rules, until very recently they were a great exporter of people, only now is the country looking attractive, but from what is printed not for the black coloured people.

Where are your facts. The majority of immigrants are wanting to improve their lot, and as I said before we have been to generous but it will not be easy just to stop.

Golfinger
U will have noticed that I dont usualy join in the conversations on this board as so many are not prepared to admit that there could be another opinion. As to Haystack and Cynic, I have not mentioned them before as I believe that Cynic utters most with a tounge in cheek way to stir the crowd and as he is a keen golfer at least he has some principles.Haystack and you do rubb each other up and as for recent baiting u both re opiniom polls I feel a draw should be scored, but what does surprise me is two intelligent grown men can find the effort to arque over such a subject which reminds me of horse racing, looks honest but very corrupt under the edges.

Tanker, what you are unable to understand is that although many people who are convicted have non british names that does not make them immigrants.
Re those horrible rapes, if there were 20people involved in each case the number involved would be lass than 300 , please advise me the fact and tell me how many of those were immigrants , and how many were 'educated' in this country. No I dont turn a blind eye to what has happened, but I am not going to just blame immigrants for all our problems. I also blame people like u who seemingly willnot or have not tried to assimilate people with color and faiths into this country.
If the attitude of your had been maintained during the 50's to 70' we would not have a transport or health service

stable I can debate what I like on here with Hays, just because you dont like the subject doesnt mean its wrong.
And as for golf, class ridden sport only accessible to the toffs in most towns.
All golf courses should be leveled off and football fields placed on them for young kids who have nowhere to go now that the tories have sold off all school sportsfields to their crony landlord pals for house rental.

stable, I try to accept people of different faiths into this country, but I believe these people should learn the language of this country and abide by the laws of this country. One of the things I object to is that some - not all - try to impose their religious and cultural views on this country and I don't understand why local governments need to spend £millions on various leaflets which have been translated into other languages in order to appease a minority.
We also have a scenario today where Sergio Garcia has been villified in the press for making a silly remark about Tiger Woods which was construed as racist. It was a silly remark and Garcia has apologised for making it, but that is not enough for some of these idiot press reporters who would like to see Garcia persecuted.

TANKER tells many truths about immigrants in this country.
Not sure he gets it over right because of his posting style, but he says it as he sees it, others are thinking what he says but darent speak it for fear of being labeled a racist by do gooders.

gf you obviously know nothing about golf! It may at one time have been a "class ridden sport", but there are plenty of public golf courses in this country which don't charge a fortune for a green fee and any youngster who would like to play can hire a set of golf clubs and go for a game with his friends, or hit some balls on a driving range. I see lots of young kids playing golf now and they don't come from priviledged backgrounds. ( You may not be applauding me any longer after that post ! )

Classic ignorant remark GF re Golf. When I moved to Scotland 12 years ago I was pleasantly surprised that in Aberdeen, school children had a choice of going to the swimming baths or playing golf. They also have inter school competitions, so your remark "class ridden sport only accessible to the toffs in most towns2 utter rubbish mate.

We can affect the life of people in other countries through exposure of internet and TV. rather than military. Education and internet works better.
Why to waste money and get involved in such barbaric conflicts?

there are now a huge number of pay-and-play courses, ranging from the basic 9-hole to some very high quality ones indeed ...... playing golf is nothing whatsoever to do with class or even especially the cost, but more to do with being able to afford the time ..... furthermore, you might be amazed to learn that most clubs and indeed counties have very active programmes to introduce even very young children of both sexes to the sport
fishing is undoubtedly the most popular participant sport in uk, and that is enjoyed by millions from all economic classes of society, though that is not a particularly cheap hobby either
time you stopped being such an inverted snob old bean
