THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

GF - Google map of golf courses in Yorkshire, then play spot the gap. Knobhead!

goldfinger - 23 May 2013 16:26 - 25330 of 81564

Stop talking wet Cyners. A set of golf clubs cost a fortune.

And yep they do hire them out for the day but boy does the local pro and adult members like them on the greens..................... not.

Granted I live in a posh area Holmfirth, but from what Ive seen its the same all over this area.

Knock em all down I say, snob sport.

And wheres our open champion??????? just like Tennis another snob sport.

cynic - 23 May 2013 16:31 - 25331 of 81564

shows what you know you silly old fool ..... new clubs are expensive, but 2nd-hand go very cheaply and can even be hired for only a few pounds

own up and admit that you don't actually have any interest whatsover in golf, and just spout nonsense from your all-too-typical preconceived prejudices

like i said, you're just an inverted snob and i fear, tending towards the worst of that ilk

=============

further, as at today, the world top 10 ranking golfers are
USA x 4, GB x 4, Oz x 1, SA x 1

doodlebug4 - 23 May 2013 16:32 - 25332 of 81564

The face of golf has been changing in this country over the last few years, there are not so many private members clubs any more as it was becoming too expensive. More and more people are just paying either five-day memberships, or pay and play, also youngsters and women are becoming more accepted at golf clubs. If you want to play at Wentworth or Sunningdale yes, I agree, it is silly money and if you are a woman and would like to play at Muirfield you are actually not allowed to unless you are invited to play with a male member of the club.

goldfinger - 23 May 2013 16:32 - 25333 of 81564

Once went up Crosland Moor local golf course, went for a drink a sat on what I was later told was the captains chair!!!!!!.

Reserved they said that chair ....... I said no chairs reserved so proceeded with my larger.

Big posh knob came over and threatned me that it was his chair, said he would flog my behind if I didnt vacate it immediatly.

Smashed him straight on the chin and flung him against the wall.

Took 6 of them to get me out.

Pals tho were banned.

Now tell me its not a snob sport.

doodlebug4 - 23 May 2013 16:38 - 25334 of 81564

Actually I would prefer my children to take up golf rather than football. If you look at the supposed 'role models' in football then you are really struggling to find any that you would want kids to look up to, whereas in golf at least there is a strong code of conduct and civilised 'role models'.

cynic - 23 May 2013 16:39 - 25335 of 81564

no ... you were just being totally boorish and of course, were the story true, you would quite rightly have been done for assault or even abh

you'ld also have received a good kicking had you tried a similar silly stunt in a rugby club of either code or miners' pub

now try to stop making a total wally of yourself, hard as that may be

goldfinger - 23 May 2013 16:41 - 25336 of 81564

You too can run the country! Try and pass this Eton College Scholarship Exam Paper

Piece of pith. Easy.

Dont have rich parents tho like cyners and Hays so I wouldnt be invited to sit it.

doodlebug4 - 23 May 2013 16:43 - 25337 of 81564

gf, post 25335 I don't think that has got anything to do with being a snob - it's called tradition! :-)

goldfinger - 23 May 2013 16:45 - 25338 of 81564

Cyners I played Rugby Union for Leeds Celtic,(semi pro) stop talking sh-te.

He asaulted me you fool hand on my collar.

Got what he deserved.

Typical local snob.

goldfinger - 23 May 2013 16:46 - 25339 of 81564

Doodles I didnt know that. To my mind it was ignorance and still snobish.

cynic - 23 May 2013 16:48 - 25340 of 81564

if you'd had the brains, though clearly you did not (nor i), then you would have been very surprised, though you might not have liked mixing with all those black, white and slant-eyed kids whose parents had inculcated aspirations to succeed

no, you're much happier being an inverted snob making a big song and dance about having to walk to school in bare feet and all that sort of crap - even it's not true

the politics of jealousy really do have a very nasty smell about them, and the proponents often just sanctimonious prigs - but not you of course

cynic - 23 May 2013 16:49 - 25341 of 81564

sticky - when you're in this sort of stupid frame, you're best ignored - akin to being sat on the naughty step when you were a child.... when you've learnt to behave, you may be allowed back

hilary - 23 May 2013 16:50 - 25342 of 81564

Cyners I played Rugby Union for Leeds Celtic,(semi pro) stop talking sh-te.

According to Google, Leeds Celtic is Leeds University American Football Club. Hmmm, wonder if Fishfinger can remember how old he was when he used to play for them???

I should quit this thread for a time if I was u,(thank god I am not)
U have shown yourself to be a very badly informed person who chooses to pontificate on a subject he knows F A about.
Inverted snobbery, I know plenty of left wing enthuiasts who love taking my money on the golf course, coupled with right wingers and all religions.
What you may well not understand is that gives others doubts about your views on things you may well know a lot about.
Re you comments and Tanker talking as he finds, that I have no trouble with, it is when he then call it facts. Facts being something that is correct not thought that cannot be sustained.

cynic - 23 May 2013 16:52 - 25344 of 81564

sticky hasn't been found to be telling silly porkies yet again has he? ..... oh dear oh dear

by the way hilary, since you're here, is there indeed any clarification on this TCG placing/rights issue stuff?

hilary - 23 May 2013 16:55 - 25345 of 81564

Not something I've been following, but do you mean this, cyners?

Stan - 23 May 2013 16:56 - 25346 of 81564

"If you look at the supposed 'role models' in football then you are really struggling to find any that you would want kids to look up to, whereas in golf at least there is a strong code of conduct and civilised 'role models'."

Bl++dy source DB4 I'll have you know that us Walking Footballers are held in very high regard these days -):

.. and just to prove it here are the Bury boys in action. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18380173

cynic - 23 May 2013 16:58 - 25347 of 81564

just seen posting on TCG thread .... still gibberish to me, and as far as i can see (i'm blind) just 7.75% loan notes rather than placing/rights

Not a very easy exam at 12 or 13.

Boris Johnson was a KS.

Even John Maynard Keynes (Economist founder of Keynesian economics so beloved of Labour was a KS).

The point is not to pass, but to have one of the highest scores to gain a King's Scholarship. And once again you are wrong as you are not invited to take the exam. Anyone can apply to take it.
