Seems as if we have returned to the good old days of Tory miss-rule.

While I can understand the reasons for government wishing to forestall a round of public service pay increases, they agreed to arbitration and should respect and implement the decisions.

I would also expect them to be more circumspect about their own pay and pension increases and that of other public "servants" (doctors etc.).

They are shooting themselves in the foot once again.

Alas. Even coppers get tickets for speeding. I had 6 points when i retired and countless parking fines. I broke the law-i pay the price.
Coppers arrest people, they don\'t make the law, they don\'t set sentances, they don\'t offer \'alternative\' sentances such as drug rehabilitation( does\'nt work) suspended sentances- Don\'t work, conditional discharges- Yeh right- and when they don\'t work- who gets the blame?
As for no police on street etc. Alas it\'s always been that way, pleasing the public and providing a SERVICE to them, is not a performance indicator- therefore it is\'nt done.
I would\'nt strike, nor will the cops I know-The gov\'nt knows this. They also know that the public hate the cops as they are percieved to do nothing.

If you\'re ever bored goto a magistrates court and watch as the collective scum is placed before the court each morning and is out on the streets by the afternoon.
Justice fails to be done day in day out, but again sentancing and judicial disposal are not performance indicators- but again the cops get the blame for CPS and inept judicial system.
Less than 5 years ago, the police would build a case and put it before the court. Now they build a case and after jumping through hoops put it before a CPS lawyer who if (he\'s not on his lunch break or \'too\' busy\' or \'It\'s almost 5, I\'m off) will review the evidence AND then IF and ONLY IF there is a significant chance of a successful prosecution taking place will the cast be put before a court.- So much for letting the court/jury decide. Glad I retired.
Personally I never gave anyone over the age of 21 a speeding ticket , except for the solicitor doing 90 on the north circular- who\'s car had been stolen and crashed, earlier that day from court by his client- That was a good day.

Having spoken to my old colleagues- They're very pissed off, not about the money (it's peanuts) but about the underhanded and dishonest way they have been
treated and how they are percieved as the villians for gov'nts and 'partner' agencies failings.
