The BBC's Jim Muir in Beirut says the Russian statement could be seen as an escalation. He says there had been reports that Moscow was holding back on delivering the arms, in exchange for an Israeli commitment not to carry out further air raids over Syria.

Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon said the Russian missile systems had not yet left Russia.

"I hope they will not leave, and if, God forbid, they reach Syria, we will know what to do," he said.

Most of these ideas are unrealistic. The UK will never bring back the death penalty. The trend among western democracies is to scrap the death penalty. There is also no chance of our courts allowing British citizens to be deported to other countries for money or any other reason. You have to work within our practices and laws. If we have evidence of incitement to violence or actual violence then there are suitable laws to imprison convicted people.

What you might like to do has no bearing on what can be done.

UKIP won't get elected. they will be lucky to get even one MP. When the estimate was 19% of the vote they would still have not gained one MP. The demographics are against them. Elections are won or lost by the two main parties by a few marginal seats. They could get 30% of the vote and not touch the safe seats of Labour and Conservatives. I am sure your friends will vote UKIP. However the people I meet say they will voute Lib, Lab or Con. None of them will vote UKIP. It is just a different circle of friends. UKIP is a classic protest party and as usual they attract all the loonies.

It's quite amazing how many people get conned by crooks like this.

Twice now I have asked if you had read the UKIP manifesto and twice you have not replied.

Whilst agreeing that most votes for UKIP were protest votes, many voters like myself truely believe that they would do good for the country.

UKIP no doubt do attract loonies as do most fringe type parties, (not so much fringe now though) but they also attract people like myself who have actually read their manifesto and whilst not believing everything I read, believe that against what the other parties say they will do, have this countries future at heart.

Both the Liberal and Labour party started as so called fringe, minority parties, the Liberals in 1867 and Labour in 1900, so if voters aways shun new parties, politics would never have changed and the Conservatives, then known as the Tories, would have no oposition.

wasn't the whig party the direct ancestor to the liberals?
if that is so, then the tory party came later on the scene
