PATISEAR - 11 Jan 2008 09:24 - 25509 of 27111

Mad Pad
Rumour was for Monday 14th.

Mad Pad - 11 Jan 2008 16:38 - 25510 of 27111

Rumour started by Essex on the other boards!Believe it if you want.If there is we must assume he has a man on the inside.

PATISEAR - 11 Jan 2008 16:41 - 25511 of 27111

I believe he [essex] spoke to Mr Mines some weeks past, and was told there would be a pre-close statement by 14th.

Mad Pad - 11 Jan 2008 16:47 - 25512 of 27111

Let's hope so ,have a good w'end all.

Mad Pad - 14 Jan 2008 07:14 - 25513 of 27111

Preclose statement much as predicted ,at least with Mines good housekeeping £8m should last a couple more years which gives us half a chance of a miracle.

greekman - 14 Jan 2008 07:32 - 25514 of 27111

From statement.

Sales growth has lagged forecast but this has been offset by the continued focus
on careful cost and cash management.

Meaning.....Thought it could not get any slower but it has. But we are buying cheaper tea/coffee and biscuits for the canteen.

He is already increasing the commercial focus as we look to build revenues in this area of our business.

Meaning.....He has told everyone to get their finger out, and start doing their jobs.

Growth in the Biotec subsidiary has continued but at a slower rate than
anticipated.

Meaning.....We thought we detected a pulse, but now we are not sure.

We have increased our contact with our existing customer base and this has resulted in a growing number of customer inquiries.

Meaning.....We have rang a few existing customers and left messages/promises of progress. A couple rang us back, both expressing surprise that we are still in existence.

Call me a cynic, but unless the results show more that a fully blown spin we are going backwards (due to competitors moving ahead) or at best standing still.

micky468 - 14 Jan 2008 07:46 - 25515 of 27111

lol lolo lol lol,,,,,,,,,,, thats made me fill better.....well done greekman bag on the nose. ;-))

PATISEAR - 14 Jan 2008 08:13 - 25516 of 27111

Loss in line with market expectations.
Sales growth slower than expected.
Cost management, good.
Cash balance higher than expected.
New managing Director already increasing commercial focus.
Satisfactory progress is being made with patent challenges.
Looking to build revenues in Bioplastics area of business.
R F business OK.

hewittalan6 - 14 Jan 2008 08:18 - 25517 of 27111

So in general terms, in the last 12 months Stanelco has done..............nothing.
The good news is they have done nothing cheaper than ever before, and have enough cash to do nothing for much longer than they expected.
They have a newish board member who can commercialise their nothingness better than the last one and even though the bioplastice appear to contribute negative nothingness, Bioplast is contributing a slightly positive nothing, though not as quick as they'd like.
Meanwhile the old fashioned RF is reporting like for like nothingness, with a few telesale ringing customers to see if theres nothing they would like.
Full of optimism her.............for nothing.

oblomov - 14 Jan 2008 08:55 - 25518 of 27111

'Paul has a research and development background
in natural polymer chemistry and more recently a track record in the
commercialisation of innovative polymer products. He is already increasing the
commercial focus as we look to build revenues in this area of our business. '

'He is already increasing the commercial focus'

What the hell does that mean? Can one of the younger amongst us, more conversant with modern business-speak and spin, please explain? What is he actually doing that has resulted in a loss? Whatever it is, it hasn't worked!

'Whilst there continues to be considerable interest from potential customers,
some obstacles remain in commercialising bioplastics as reported previously. To
help meet the requirements of this developing market, the Company is installing
pilot extrusion and testing facilities at its UK base in Southampton during Q1
2008. '

More obstacles, more tests, more trials, morons!

hewittalan6 - 14 Jan 2008 09:02 - 25519 of 27111

Though not necessarily younger, I interpret that as meaning that whatever they were doing previously had no commercial use at all, and that this new boff has scrapped it and started to look at the IP with a view to whether any of it will ever be wanted by commerce, and only working on that which might be worth a few quid.

stockdog - 14 Jan 2008 09:32 - 25520 of 27111

The jam seems to have disappeared and we are left merely with . . . tomorrow.

greekman - 14 Jan 2008 09:36 - 25521 of 27111

Hi Oblomov,

He is already increasing the commercial focus as we look to build revenues in this area of our business.

Also not a youngy but my interpretation is.....Stop trying to go everywhere, instead focus on one thing at a time.

Just look at all the previous areas, from trays, wraps to cig filters, all of which we have little idea what level of progress has been reached. (But we can guess).
In the past SEO have not just tried to run before they could walk, they never got past the crawling stage.

If SEO were as good at selling their products, as they are at company speak they would be up there with the best.

garyble - 14 Jan 2008 09:50 - 25522 of 27111

P. poor.....in line my my expectation!

Can anyone shed light on the extected loss and forecast sales?

garyble - 14 Jan 2008 09:52 - 25523 of 27111

I see more trials on the horizon.....which will take another chunk of cash.

tweenie - 14 Jan 2008 10:13 - 25524 of 27111

Did i miss something....WTF have they been doing for a YEAR?
Oh i'm sorry,I take it all back, they've spent less money to achieve NOTHING.

I should be thankful.

greekman - 14 Jan 2008 10:24 - 25525 of 27111

In the Daily Telegraph today it is reported that the LSE fined 9 AIM listed companies during the last 7 days. The rules are that they can and have refused to name these companies.
Some will remember that early in 2007 I reported SEO management to the FSA, and receive notification that unless there was court action I would not receive notification of any action or punishment taken. So obviously the main market is governed along the same lines.
The calls for greater transparency are increasing re and penalties to be made public.
Until we the investors in these companies see this transparency, we will obviously treat those that police the system with the expected contempt they deserve.

PATISEAR - 14 Jan 2008 10:28 - 25526 of 27111

greekman

So how much fine would you like to see them pay out of 'our' money.
