How right you are SD. Another pint please.

oblomov - 16 Jan 2008 12:36 - 25574 of 27111

Its a pub in which we used to drink Champagne , now we're reduced to halves of bitter. And it has to last all day. And forget the pork scratchings!

kimoldfield - 16 Jan 2008 12:53 - 25575 of 27111

No, NO! Not the pork scratchings?!

Fred1new - 16 Jan 2008 12:57 - 25576 of 27111

8-)

Someone has offered me ecstasy. Don't know whether to take it before or after I look at the SP.

qeistba - 16 Jan 2008 13:06 - 25578 of 27111

Before and after is recommended. I hope it's not in suppository form, if it's related to Stanelco it probably will be, we've all had it right up the Gary Glitter with this share.

oblomov - 16 Jan 2008 13:58 - 25579 of 27111

Fraid so, kim. Times is hard.

EWRobson - 16 Jan 2008 21:12 - 25580 of 27111

Wait! here's the answer. Return from the dead. King Kev!

SEO must be in NEWCASTLE ALL DREAMS AND NO HOPE.

kimoldfield - 17 Jan 2008 15:50 - 25582 of 27111

Taken Barclays a long time to realize someone pressed the buy button by mistake; RNS says they have sold some now!

required field - 18 Jan 2008 09:03 - 25583 of 27111

XSTEFFX, they should have put Kevin KEEGAN in charge of SEO, and moved this board to Newcastle, I bet KK will turn the Magpies around though !

Anyone hazard a guess at the loss for 2007?

IF 8m cash remains, 1.7m was used in the second half so, barring any major exceptionals my guess would be ~4.2m loss....

EWRobson - 18 Jan 2008 21:22 - 25585 of 27111

gary The trading loss in the first half was 1.7m (before exceptional items). You have probably made a reasonable assumption that the cash drain of 1.7m points to a similar loss in the second half making an annual loss of 3.4m.

We used to be told far too much by SEO management with claims that were never substantiated. They are now playing their cards very close to their chests. They say they are making 'satisfactory progress' in 'assuaging the previously reported patent challenges' relating to Sphere and Biotec. Does that impact the whole of the BioPlastics business. Discounting the traditional R/F business, something of a cash cow, that only leaves Aerosol. However, given that the present sp is about the level of the cash balance, we only need some evidence that breakeven can be achieved for the current price to look cheap. Having said that, everything looks so laid back that there can hardly be any rush to re-invest.

Eric

Thanks Eric.

BTW, bought some compostable bags from Sainbury's the other day, they were made in China!

Tonyrelaxes - 19 Jan 2008 10:02 - 25587 of 27111

China?
No patent concerns there!!

I wonder why there isn't a Webpage for "whistle-blowers" - that is hoping "employees" will tell it as it is - it being pretty evident the Most Expensive employees we have ( ie Directors), are unable to speak.
Of course the reason for this is that we shareholders have given them power to set their own salaries, options and so on whilst at the same time be the filter of all news - - - hence they protect their position by silence and shadows . . . look at the sp - total rubbish.

Before the potato trays - I thought SEO had a reasonable business - or did that wither on the vine . . . . . . . .

Perhaps we need "fresh directors" - to sweep away all the current malaise . . . . it couldn't be any worse, could it?

Tonyrelaxes - 20 Jan 2008 23:38 - 25590 of 27111

Whistle blowers?

2 or so years ago I, and 2 other PIs, went to Marchwood to put our concerns to the 'new' MD, Martin Wagner.

Ignoring all the good he spouted, we split up after the meeting and talked on a 1 to 1 basis to various staff around the place including workshop, research, and secretarial/admin people.

On the drive back to London we compared notes. We were all fully convinced all worked, was going in the right direction and there was no finer place for our money.

Not a hint of adverse thoughts was conveyed to any of us by anyone.

Hardly the stuff for whistleblowers.

"or did that wither on the vine "

The quote from Ian Balchin (then MD) 3 years ago at a fund raising EGM to buy Bio-tec, was that they were "going to pick the low hanging fruit first".

Reminiscent of Philip Lovegrove's (also director of AHT - look at their SP this last year!) famous "Greenseal is on the cusp of commercialisation ".

That was 2 years ago.

Biodegradable fag filters? Perseco? Fast Food trials? WalMart Sustainability partners? Tyson Foods? Asda packers trials? Sealed Air? And so on....

Not a cheep out of anyone for SO LONG.

Lots of noise promised at the next AGM - from me, at least.

boldtrader - 21 Jan 2008 09:20 - 25592 of 27111

leading on from what you say Tony, I just cannot understand how SEO are not making hay while the sun shines!! Morrisons this very morning have reported that new reusable bags will be in stores. Sainsburys, Tesco uncle, Tom Cobbly and all,and here WE are still with no orderbook. total S**T!! Cheers to all holders anyway.
