I wonder why there isn't a Webpage for "whistle-blowers" - that is hoping "employees" will tell it as it is - it being pretty evident the Most Expensive employees we have ( ie Directors), are unable to speak.
Of course the reason for this is that we shareholders have given them power to set their own salaries, options and so on whilst at the same time be the filter of all news - - - hence they protect their position by silence and shadows . . . look at the sp - total rubbish.
Before the potato trays - I thought SEO had a reasonable business - or did that wither on the vine . . . . . . . .
Perhaps we need "fresh directors" - to sweep away all the current malaise . . . . it couldn't be any worse, could it?

Whistle blowers?
2 or so years ago I, and 2 other PIs, went to Marchwood to put our concerns to the 'new' MD, Martin Wagner.
Ignoring all the good he spouted, we split up after the meeting and talked on a 1 to 1 basis to various staff around the place including workshop, research, and secretarial/admin people.
On the drive back to London we compared notes. We were all fully convinced all worked, was going in the right direction and there was no finer place for our money.
Not a hint of adverse thoughts was conveyed to any of us by anyone.
Hardly the stuff for whistleblowers.

"or did that wither on the vine "
The quote from Ian Balchin (then MD) 3 years ago at a fund raising EGM to buy Bio-tec, was that they were "going to pick the low hanging fruit first".
Reminiscent of Philip Lovegrove's (also director of AHT - look at their SP this last year!) famous "Greenseal is on the cusp of commercialisation ".
That was 2 years ago.
Biodegradable fag filters? Perseco? Fast Food trials? WalMart Sustainability partners? Tyson Foods? Asda packers trials? Sealed Air? And so on....
Not a cheep out of anyone for SO LONG.
Lots of noise promised at the next AGM - from me, at least.

Back to compostable bags:
The ones I bought from Sainsbury's have today performed extremely well. I fully expected the bag to burst, especially when so much liquid and heat was generated.

Er, folks - I thought SEC was making replacement TRAYS for meat-products, probably out of some starch ( potoato?) material, but able to be sealed, presumably using some of SEO earlier RF sealing (Ultrasonic perhaps?) technology.
The mention of "Supermarket Bags" - isn't this beyond SEO's capabilities? -
OR,
have I fallen asleep and they can make potato-bags out of starch from er, potatoes?
Tonyrelaxes
I'm sure yr account is correct tony, for when folk are about to lose their jobs they will stick-together and tell anyone good news. Unfortunately you were "probably" asking the "wrong questions to the "wrong people etc.
E,G. - Far better to find the local paper and casually ask Personnel why there are no ads for Staff?
- Similarly you nedd to look at things like the raw materials coming in and goods going out to determine if it's a Go-Go- company . . . . .
((of couse this is not possible with a "Software Company" - or where the business is "AT" the customers' premises . . .)) perhaps that was the case for the Marchwood Company you mentioned, I don't recall.
SEO:
The trouble is that when a Co expands by "Buying turnover" or by buying a technology "that fits..." - it usually is too expensive - and - doesn't work as expected.
-After all, we "think we know SEO" and that isn't working - so how much could SEO "know about Biotec" (was it?).. . . before payiong way over value? These purchases include bungs to the organisers hangers-on and the bods creating the "placing" etc. These are never cheap so expect a minimum of 15% to disapear overnight and maybe a further 15% when "The Fit-" doesn't
-and for that precise reason one should be very wary of buying something as you will always be given a good "spin" so as to justify the price.
Arrgh!

Hangon,
You must keep up. SEO {Biotec} produces "bioplastic" materials. Sphere is big on refuse sacks etc, hence Biotec's increased sales {~28% in first half of 2007}.
I beleive SEO's approach was to develop technology on a laboratory scale, then sell it to a a manufacturer and consumer...a bigger mountain to climb.
Maybe they should have kept 100% of Biotec and developed the sales themselves, or maybe they would have lost Sphere in the process?!
