Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Some, work in heavy industry or manual jobs for 45 years and then retire on much lower pensions.
In the UK are taxes heavy for what they provide, even if it is a police officer or an ambulance if you are in need one.
Priorities!

All down to career choice no?
As a labourer you are less likely to be murdered, assaulted, stabbed, spat on, run over, be a political pawn controlling riots in a crash helmet, body armour and carrying a plastic shield, work three shifts morning, nights and afternoons with short change overs. If called upon be a midwife, administer first aid, jump in the sea, river, canal to rescue anyone in difficulty. Inform next of kin of the death of their loved ones. Deal generally with the scum of the earth purporting to be human beings etc etc etc. Great job!

Cynic,
That might give you pleasure, but a little like Dreamer, you seem to me to be developing a fetish.
But, I suppose it is down to what gives you pleasure.

cryogenically frozen would be even better .... that way he'll THINK he can be revived at some point, but in practice, not so - unethical at the very least :-)

The thought of being revivified in 50 years time and finding political political Neanderthals like you still around is not attractive.

Have you apologised to Chris Jefferies yet?

Why hasn't Dave the brave introduce his pledge of Feb 8, 2010 ?
“David Cameron will introduce measures to curb the lobbying industry to ensure that attempts by business to seek influence on Government ..”
He is just another wind bag like bag Hays and Cynic.
A suitable leader of the party of cons. I would seem you adulate the idol like school boys and then troop after him.
How much do the Cayman group dodge in tax and pay the party for their badges and “dishonours”?

there is seemingly a much juicier scandal to emerge than 2 labour + 1 other peers selling their "abilities", which currently has a very serious injunction covering it ..... all sorts of potential as to whom it might involve ..... 'er indoors has a very interesting and plausible theory

The scandal about the affair has no specific injunction about it. It is an affair linked to number 10. The affair has now finished. Does everyone know who the two people involved are? It won't come as much of a surprise when it comes out. It may help to explain a few things when you think about the two people. There could be be a bit of fallout depending on how it is handled. When you find out who it is you may be inclined to utter a gasp depending on your politics. It is no one who is currently in the Cabinet or involved with the government.

on an even lighter note, it comes as no surprise at all that labour, under the guidance of Ed Balls, is now spouting pretty much the same fiscal doctrine as the tories - e.g. "iron discipline", tight fiscal controls, keeping a lid on welfare costs and capping benefits and so on and so forth
cynic scratches his bald pate and wonders if Ed Balls has recently been appointed as George Osborne's right hand man
