Miliband was awful in PMQs. Cameron was excellent. Cameron mentioned the reports that half the shadow cabinet wanted an EU referendum and then asked them to raise their hands if they wanted it. There were lots of sheepish looking opposition MPs trying to look innocent.

FACT I phoned my doctors to see my doctor on the 30th may they gave me an appointment for the 17th june so when I said do not bother I will go to A@E they told me to come at 2.30pm on the 31st may

Quite right too. They obviously thought it was an emergency if you were going to A&E as and gave you a quicker appointment. If it wasn't emergency then you get a longer wait.

and of course that is exactly why A+E gets cluttered up by idiots with an ingrown toenail or even lesser "ailments"

In some respects TANKER is correct, I recall years ago when illegal immigrants being held subject to their deportation, were having all manner of ailments treated on the NHS prior to them being deported.

The mosque is in the middle of a council estate. It is a community centre for Somalis. Technically it is in Muswell Hill as a postal district, but really only just off the North Circular and in Barnet, whereas Muswell is in Haringey.

The reason A@E is going to the wall is because like George says above a lot of people are having to wait up to 2 weeks to see their doctor.

OR

2.dead

before you would see him.

So people divert and go to the A&E instead.

Do immigrants play a part in this? yes certainly if immigration numbers are going up it stands that your local GP has a far bigger patient list.

Should GPs work longer hours.......NO.

A tired doctor is a dangerous doctor.

Camoron has to realise he will get his chance (if hes still in office)in 2 years time to ask questions rather than answer them. On the odd question he does answer he uses dodgy statistics and outright lies.

sticky - i'm not sure you're right about GPs not working longer ...... there was certainly a good argument for retaining the "old system" where junior docs and interns acquired a far greater knowledge and understanding - trade-off was some pretty horrific hours

it is also not so long ago that local surgeries were open at weekends, admittedly on skeleton (dead?) staff ...... that has now been scrapped (i think several years ago) with obvious consequences

there were also local (cottage) hospitals which have also pretty much disappeared, though i would accept that they were probably totally uneconomic
