ASOS: BUY AT LOW PRICE!!!! (ASC)

wilco99 - 12 Sep 2003 15:52

ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

cor! .... innit just!!

looks as though i called that one wrong, though the fall may prove short-lived.
from our biz (chemicals), it looks very much as though economic activity is indeed starting up again, and ASC has caught the imagination of the retails public.

the figures were very good indeed whichever way you look at them, so arguably, this weakness is a good buying opportunity

In words that a novice like me can understand, when results are so good and the company planning expansion, why is RF correct and we mocked him? have just topped up at 3.39p and am quite happy to hold but don't understand the market view.

ptholden - 30 Jun 2009 09:32 - 2587 of 5941

Results already in the SP. Asc continues to trade at a significant PE

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 10:54 - 2588 of 5941

for many many months, i have avoided or even been a bear of high street stocks (don't nit-pick please!), but i have grown to like this company and its progress.

though it may look a bit expensive at the moment, as far as i can see, it is still very much a growth stock and will continue to benefit significantly as UK pulls out of this nasty recession

Looks like that I should have shorted this.....a bit too risky for me..., though I suspected that the sp would crash !.

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 11:05 - 2590 of 5941

loom to go bottom fishing perhaps then
somewhere around 315/320 looks a pretty good bet and sp may have already hit that earlier and bounced a smidge

i was be lie if i said im not suprise, big boys are short term investors, they just carry about quarterly results , they don't give a flying f. about long term view, so it's looks like big profit taking otherwise this looks like someone got bad news about asos and is sniking out witch is not true (hopely for everyone of us hold),so profit taking, and i think this is nothing to do with PE (that PE what they say 19.3 or something doesn't shows even fraction of what asos is doing , 19.3 is about 10% growth and asos is doing a lot lot more so nothing to do with it).We are still in a recession and market gives us a lot of chances to get some chip. The long term investors are always loosing in short term something sometimes and so because is all about a bussines behind the stock it is another one chance for stockpile.i would say.hey even Buffet is loosing short term sometimes:))

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 12:17 - 2592 of 5941

stop crying tomasz ..... of course sp has a great deal of relevance as do the quarterly and other figures ...... long term and short term are pretty subjective periods, and if there is heavy profit-taking at some time, afficionados may deem that an opportune moment to top up ..... on the other hand, if sp is falling, there is not necressarily anything to stop it continuing on that route

halifax - 30 Jun 2009 12:25 - 2593 of 5941

Does ASOS declare how much of their sales are returned or is the sales figure net of returns?

tomasz - 30 Jun 2009 12:29 - 2594 of 5941

ha ha, im glad you sleep well Cynic, well it is always a chance to stop it, my dear, all you need is about ,i would say 5 or 6 milions pounds and you have to lets say start buying slowly but firmly let say for 1500 all day long, even two.you would be suprise how fast they could stop, but well....5-6 mil.try get it and i promise you we'll be on the charge next time:)))

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 12:45 - 2595 of 5941

never confuse profit and turnover .... it's the former that is the interesting bit which, de facto, would take into account any returns

tomasz - you're gibbering!

halifax - 30 Jun 2009 12:49 - 2596 of 5941

cynic not if returns go back into stock.

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 13:00 - 2597 of 5941

(a) of course they do and (b) it then reduces your profit

does M&S (or any other retailer) show their % returns?
i doubt it very much indeed

halifax - 30 Jun 2009 13:23 - 2598 of 5941

cynic ASOS is a mail order business not a high street retailer, returns are likely to be much higher as a percentage of sales than a retailer like M&S.

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 15:32 - 2599 of 5941

so what?
your point is?

halifax - 30 Jun 2009 15:39 - 2600 of 5941

As the recession continues how much of their stock will become dead? Don't forget this is a very short term fashiom business.

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 15:49 - 2601 of 5941

the question remains, "So what is your point?"
what you say is true, but that is so in any retail (or wholesale) fashion biz

halifax - 30 Jun 2009 15:55 - 2602 of 5941

cynic eventually the numbers will speak for themselves. We are a little surprised that they have not been taken out by one of the larger players if their business model is so unique.

cynic - 30 Jun 2009 16:01 - 2603 of 5941

be as surprised as you like .... as with most things in life, there are many reasons for NOT doing something, when the correct decision is actually to take the plunge .... however, that bit cannot be proved until after the event

halifax - 30 Jun 2009 16:26 - 2604 of 5941

cynic can the market rating continue to be so high in relation to other "mail order type high fashion" competitors?
