* M0NEY-AM G0LF DAY EVENT: 27 HOLES, INCL. SUSTENANCE & PRIZES (IN ADDITION TO M0NEY-AM SPONSORED PRIZES!) on: -
THURSDAY, 08 JUNE, 2006 *
So several months have passed... Based on the success of last Summer's Event at Longcliffe G.C., a few of you have asked me to take over the reigns from PTH and organise another G0LF M0NEY-AM DAY again based in the MIDLANDS. This is fairEST to the majority coming from all over the UK! From initial feedback (reflecting on 2005 36-Hole hot mid-Summer's day!), the popular view for a 2006 Event has been agreed, as follows: -
* Tea/Coffee on arrival.
* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.
(** ADDITIONAL PRIZES from our generous SPONSORS include: - 3 months worth of Shares Magazine sent to the homes of EACH COMPETITOR every week. The Overall Winner will get The Money-AM Annual Golf Challenge Cup to keep for good plus 1 year's worth of Money-AM Level 2 service worth 357.50 + Vat. The Runner-Up and Third Placed Winners will each get a medal to keep plus 6 months' level 2.)
Venue: - H0RSLEY L0DGE G.C., Belper, Derbyshire (Championship Meadowland Course with American-type Greens). Refreshments will be in the On-Site Kingfisher Restaurant. Entry Fee is: - 60 per Competitor which will cover all of the above ** plus enough to buy some additional golfing prizes.

Well I hope it drums up some support for the event. As I say they should come to this thread if interested, so fingers crossed.

I am new to moneyam, but am keen to play in the golf competion on 8 Jun 06.
Can wives/partners attend the evening meal?.
Also can I bring an additional male golfer?
We are both particularly poor golfers (handicap 20), but we have both had 2 holes in one.
Would also appreciate details of available accommodation.
Thanks

Good evening, Brock and welcome to M-AM, sir!
1. Yes, by all means, to bringing wives/partners/friends/mistresses and so on to the evening meal (Bob Colby brought 2 last year - and the more the merrier!) as long as I know in advance. They will simply pay for the 3-course meal, nothing else.
2. No, to inviting additional guest-golfers, I'm afraid. However there is a very easy way around this... Get your friend to enrol onto M-AM (I am sure Ian Taylor will guide you/him through the process). I actually posed the same Q. at the Longcliffe Event and was given the same response - which is fair enough because the M-AM prizes are 100%-investment related albeit I will also be handing out my own small golf-related prizes, as well.
3. Yes, 20 easily qualifies you both. Handicap limit is: 28 so you both comfortably fit the criteria. Just peruse the existing entries (above) - the spread is wide - and last year's winner (EWRobson) also plays off 20 (el bandito!).
4. Yes, of course, to helping out with accommodation as the Club provides hotel rooms. I have secured Eric the best ensuite room overlooking the 9th. green but there are others available. Once your entry & cheque has been confirmed, just contact me directly and I will sort this out for you. Otherwise there are plenty of B&B's close by (depending on your budget?).
5. Any other Q.'s - then please feel free to ask either myself or Ian T. I must stick to the deadlines due to scarce tee-off times on the day. But, if you are hovering on whether to join us or not, then please don't hesitate! You only have to read the threads (and last year's PTHolden threads) to realise how much of a great time we all have together. Great banter amongst like minded people.

Thanks for the info.
At the moment there will only be myself attending.
Cheque in the post today.
I would also like a single room at the Golf Club for the night of the 8th June.
Thanks

That's great, Tom (Brock). I will confirm your entry once Ian has forwarded the cheque but you are herewith pencilled in to join us!
I have just actioned your Hotel request and have placed you in the adjacent room to Eric. You need to proceed, as follows: -
Ring: The Club on: 01332 780838. Select option "1" and tell the receptionist that you are "in Mark's party on the 8th. June". She is expecting your call and 'The Byron' suite is now reserved for you (with discount!).
Any problems, then just e-mail me directly and I will sort it.
Regards,
Mark.

Brock123,
You are now in 'The Byron' suite instead: slightly smaller room but overlooks the Course/a "beautiful view...!", I am reliably informed.

Two women were playing golf. One teed off and watched in horror as her ball headed directly toward a foursome of men playing the next hole.
The ball hit one of the men. He immediately clasped his hands together at his groin, fell to the ground and rolled around in agony.
The woman rushed down to the man, and immediately began to apologise.
"Please allow me to help. I'm a physiotherapist and I know I could relieve your pain if you'd allow me," she told him.
"Oh, no, I'll be all right. I'll be fine in a few minutes," the man replied. He was in obvious agony, lying in the foetal position, still clasping his hands together at his groin.
At her persistence, however, he finally allowed her to help. She gently took his hands away and laid them to the side, loosened his pants and put her hands inside. She administered tender and artful massage for several long moments and asked, "How does that feel?"
"It feels great," he replied, "but my thumb still hurts like hell."

Fliper, Yes to potential new format - I have a few ideas for the morning 9-Hole Team Comp. - it all dep on final no. of entrants.
Chockie, Are you and Martini planning to tag along in June? I have a few old war wounds that could do with a gentle massage, if that's OK? I might be persuaded to lift the ban of female hackers, at least for the 1:30 hours in between rounds. :o)

No, yer muppet! It was up and down a bit towards the end of the summer. When you haven't played for such a long time, you tend to forget these things :-)
The only war wound you've got is when they removed yer brain!

Markus: Certainly interested but I am out of the country till 1st June. My handicap is 21 and am a member of Cathkin Braes. I will try to sort out something regarding the payment cheque getting sent to you as not possible to post anything here in Turkmenistan. Sounds like a good day planned!
