THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

How much of it goes to help this country ?

goldfinger - 11 Jun 2013 13:54 - 25969 of 81564

Well agreed but thats another debate.

Just cant do with people discharging their responsibilities to this country.

Surely it wouldnt have happended during the 2nd world war, otherwise Hitlers boys would be ruling us now, and one could argue that the debt we face is probably the biggest threat to the economic stability this country has ever faced.

doodlebug4 - 11 Jun 2013 14:15 - 25970 of 81564

A lot of it goes to 'help' other countries gf !

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 14:21 - 25971 of 81564

how nice to have lively discussion among mutual-dissenters without it descending into racist and spitefully personal abuse

goldfinger - 11 Jun 2013 14:24 - 25972 of 81564

Yep I know, if you look at an earlier Camoron post.

goldfinger - 11 Jun 2013 14:24 - 25973 of 81564

Sounds like your missing him cyners and trying to goad him back.

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 14:37 - 25974 of 81564

yup - him and MRSI (magicjoe)! :-)

more seriously - i wonder if the last upward lurch was effectively the last for the time being? .... i sold both my long dow and ftse earlier this morning (smaller though still profitable), and have subsequently shorted dow

goldfinger - 11 Jun 2013 14:49 - 25975 of 81564

Looks to me like it maybe the other way around.

And 6250 seems to have a line of support off top of my head.

Ill just check.

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 14:51 - 25976 of 81564

don't know about ftse .... what about dow? .... i'ld even be happy with a fall to 15,000 which we have certainly seen very recently

goldfinger - 11 Jun 2013 14:52 - 25977 of 81564

Yep best chance technically around 6250 ish mark of stopping this sell off.

Basically a line across.

ill have a look later on. Must carry on with my so called HOLS just got a smalljob of cutting about 4 mile of hedges now.

At least Ive advertised in local wrag this weekend and got an unemployed youngster at £12 an hour helping me out.

More people should do this. Hes a grand lad so might try and get some more jobs inside for him next week.

Ill take him for a pint/gallon later on. (hays be carefull dont want to set you off)

Laters.

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 15:04 - 25979 of 81564

don't forget his NICS + PAYE!

Fred1new - 11 Jun 2013 15:45 - 25980 of 81564

As long as you don't forget the country will be OK.

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 15:49 - 25981 of 81564

i suppose it is now non-pc to call casual labour part of the black economy!

Fred1new - 11 Jun 2013 15:56 - 25982 of 81564

It is peanuts compared with total GDP.

Secondly do you decry a company advertising to sell its goods.

Overseas aid can be seen as an investment with the hope of future returns.

I couldn't see a Tory government doing it out of altruism.

(Especially this lot.)

8-)

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 16:05 - 25983 of 81564

no country or gov't gives significant overseas aid for altruistic reasons ..... very occasionally, a fairly modest sum gets handed out following some disaster or other, but even then, i reckon it's pick-n-choose

Stan - 11 Jun 2013 16:09 - 25984 of 81564

Foreign aid (disaster aid aside) seems more to do with "our money" being given away by "our Political Crooks" to their "Political Crooks".

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 16:21 - 25985 of 81564

a reasonable analogy, though it is a bit more subtle than that of course :-)

goldfinger - 11 Jun 2013 16:37 - 25986 of 81564

Cynic stop talking wet,he just reports it to the Job Centre as simple as that. they take care of the rest.

cynic - 11 Jun 2013 16:56 - 25987 of 81564

why should i not tease!? ..... i pretty much know how these things work, and also how benefits get mangled very easily ..... i'm afraid there's always going to be people on the fringe who, self-esteem apart, are no better off working for a certain fairly modest amount
