THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Tinker,

You may not swear or curse, but the images, which you seem deliberately to try to conjure up with you postings, are often profane.

Often, it seems to me that the goal of many of the postings are deliberately chosen to stimulate nationalistic, or racial friction.

Some remind, me of the Nationalistic fervour of the 1930s in Germany and some elements of the same in the UK, which used the disharmony to further their cause, by pointing to the failures of others than examine their own.

(This seems to be a feature of R/wing politics.)

(Just an opinion.)

cynic - 13 Jun 2013 09:27 - 26055 of 81564

thank you fred ...... we have indeed had some very entertaining and civilised and very lively(!!) discussions over the last few days, which have remained signally unspoiled by the polemic, abuse and other garbage spewed by the penultimate poster

doodlebug4 - 13 Jun 2013 09:31 - 26056 of 81564

gf, you're having a laugh - "Self regulation used to work on sharecrazy." I remember reading that forum around 2003/2004 and some of the posts on that bulletin board were appalling. The trouble with ADVFN is that there is no moderation. Ian has shown that he will step in on various threads here and issue a warning when he thinks it's necessary.

goldfinger - 13 Jun 2013 09:55 - 26057 of 81564

Thats true DB, but then 4 voluntary moderators were sworn in. From then onwards abuse was virtualy nil and stamped out immediatly.

Im all for more posters dont get me wrong but I certainly dont want the antics of what goes on at advfn migrating over here AND that includes the bully boy ganging up squads who round up on someone who has an opposing view and then manipulatingly get them thrown off the board.

Your mate cockney rebel knows all about that.

You made me laugh TANKER.

doodlebug4 - 13 Jun 2013 11:08 - 26061 of 81564

Just for the record gf, Cockney Rebel isn't my "mate". I read his thread and post on there, but I don't follow him blindly into every share he buys - as some others do. I quite often don't agree with his trading strategy either, TCG being a recent case in point. He's been around a long time and has ruffled quite a few feathers, obviously yours included!

If posters have differing views on shares in can be a good thing, as long as the debate is carried on in a civilised manner.

goldfinger - 13 Jun 2013 11:22 - 26062 of 81564

You mean Ive ruffled his, but thats a story for another day.

Just thought recently you backed him up too much on IOF called it a scamster stock without doing his research and linked it with all other aim stocks.

Soon back tracked though didnt he when he realised poster superg1 had forwarded his comments on to CEO of company and had received an immediate reply.

Talk about dithering.

Anyway lets hope them that come, and are here behave.

TANKER - 13 Jun 2013 11:25 - 26063 of 81564

Tanker,
He should move to a right Muslin country to do it.
Thankfully the number of those countries is reducing.

Never heard of George Carlin but will view some more this evening, what a riot.

goldfinger - 13 Jun 2013 13:00 - 26070 of 81564

Thanks Hays, how on earth have you got your P/E for BLNX at 80 plus???.

Haystack - 13 Jun 2013 13:01 - 26071 of 81564

There are videos from when he was fairly young until he was pretty old. He was always anarchic. I saw him in a film the other night with Ben Affleck. It was Jersey Girl. He was playing his father. He made about 35 films.

Ammons, CR has been around a long time. Sometimes you can research companies until you are blue in the face, but as you know, there are a lot of factors that need to go together to make a profitable share, it's not all about fundamentals, balance sheets, charts, market sentiment etc. etc. etc. He made an assessment very quickly, off the top of his head, based on very little knowledge - agreed. It is for the very reason that he is a respected poster on ADVFN that people will ask his views on any number of shares. Personally I think, for his own protection, he should decline to give his views on any share that he is not totally familiar with, but that is his choice. Perhaps in future he will be more careful with his choice of language, one ill-chosen word can get people into a lot of trouble these days on the internet.
