I'm sure all is tickety-boo when there is a connection, much like the paperless office. Visited my local bank yesterday to sort out my identity - even though I've been with them since I was a child, the system was down - none of the required forms or records were available. In the old days at the least they kept your details in a shoebox.

Cheers,
KidA

Those days are very long gone KidA! The customer was always right, now always wrong, you used to be a face and a name which could be recalled when the banker saw your signature, then you became a number, now you are just a fingerprint or a voice with no purpose other than to access your account if the system is not down! :o)

The Problem with relying on "the Cloud" - another term for www, I perceive no difference - is that Security is much more important Those that have a vested interest ill say it's most secure etc etc . but it's not their money / life that's destroyed by a breach . . . Indeed, like a Politician bandying words - Almost instinctively I believe the Opposite
It is cheapness that s driving use of the Cloud and sooner or later crooks ( including Government ) will want to get heir hands on your data Stuff . . . . without your permission - and that will cost far more than the up-front savings.

Similarly, Banks have been using "networks" to move data about and I would expect they have some form of error-checking in place - but not strong enough to defeat a hacker ------ If the US Gove has been hacked by teens in Bedrooms - wow!
what hope is there they are now secure?

all IMHO.
