THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

iOS 7 vs Android 4.2 vs Windows Phone 8 vs BlackBerry 10

Apple recently unveiled the next version of its mobile operating system. Called iOS 7, the new operating system introduces several new features. Wondering which are these new features that are exclusive to the all-new iOS7 as well as the ones that are already present in Android and other mobile OSs like Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry 10?

Man calls Solihull police to complain about prostitute's looks

A man has been warned after he dialled 999 to complain about a prostitute's looks after meeting her.

West Midlands Police said they were contacted by the caller who said he "wished to report her for breaching the Sale of Goods Act".

The force said the call was received at about 19:30 BST on Tuesday complaining that the woman was not as attractive as she had claimed.

Officers have now sent the man a letter warning him about wasting police time.

West Midlands Police said the man had claimed he met the woman in a hotel car park.

"The caller claimed that the woman had made out she was better looking than she actually was and he wished to report her for breaching the Sale of Goods Act," a spokesperson for the force said.

"When he raised this issue with the woman concerned, she allegedly took his car keys, ran away from the car and threw them back at him, prompting him to call police."

Raise interest rates on old student loans, secret report proposes

Proposal is found in Whitehall-commissioned study examining how coalition could privatise entire stock of student loans

Aditya Chakrabortty

The Guardian, Thursday 13 June 2013 19.17 BST

A confidential report commissioned by the government has proposed redrawing the terms of student loans taken out over the past 15 years, that would make them more expensive to pay back for 3.6 million borrowers in England alone.

The proposal to increase the interest rates on the £40bn worth of loans is the most controversial of a series of options contained in a Whitehall-commissioned study examining how the coalition could privatise the entire stock of student loans issued since 1998.

Increasing the amount that students would be forced to pay back would make the loans more attractive to buyers.

The document, prepared by Rothschild investment bank, was submitted to the business department in November 2011, but is understood to still be under active review. It has never been made public, or been seen by higher education professionals.

Just a report. It doesn't mean much. Often reports are written for government and then dropped if they are not liked. The Guardian likes stories like that. The report is from Nov 2012. The Guardian must be short of up to date stories.

I wish someone could do something with this awful weather, pitch black and peeing down, blowing a holey. I suggest shares in travel companies are the ones to go for at the moment. 7.00 p.m. and like winter.

Haystack - 14 Jun 2013 19:24 - 26149 of 81564

The weather is lovely here in London. Very hot and sunny this afternoon and warm now. Yet another reason not to live in the country.

Been looking and wondering what do I to next, do I waste /invest any more money in companies or do I take the chance or not bother. A very hard decision when one needs to put bread and butter on a plate.!! Too much monetary loss as you have probably read - I just shake at the thought of loosing any more. Looking at fast yet and coms -still I am dithering. What ever what will be will be. It must be wonderful to be these so called millionaires.
