mostrader - 17 Jan 2005 10:24 - 2615 of 11056

hils , iam not getting into a slanging match yep we are all aware of that, but if you scroll back we are talking about the asian/europe handover,i.e 6am cet to london open....stick up a chart and see what movements we have. most days but not all big ben chart movements.....
but once again thks for your input.....
i would value it as would many other posters on this thread, which if we are both honest tends to die most days by 9am,but now a few more people are dipping there toes in and would probably value a constructive statement/comment from you thats all.

Each to their own mos - some people post a lot, others don't care to. That's just how it is.

Moved my stop to breakeven and opened a Buy To Open @ 600. We'll see, although I kinda feel we may have a rather boring day with the US on their hols.

hilary - 17 Jan 2005 10:33 - 2618 of 11056

mostrader,

I'm not into slanging matches either and I agree that the moves between 7am and 8am can be lucrative. As I read it though, at least one poster was interested in trading around 11pm UK time .... not a brilliant idea imo.

Going back to the handover, most banks won't allow their rookie traders to enter the market before 8am so, given the exceptionally low margin requirements to trade Cable, I personally don't think it's too good an idea to encourage players who have only just started looking at FX to enter the market at it's most dangerous time.

mostrader - 17 Jan 2005 10:39 - 2619 of 11056

well said hils,,good valid point..... just trying to get diff views on this thread and we have started to get that a lot more posters, iam aware you started the thread.and it would be a shame to let it disapear which it does most days..
am iam being sincere thks for the post....

jeffmack - 17 Jan 2005 10:41 - 2620 of 11056

Hils
Was that me. I was asking what time the trading started on D4F which was 11:00pm last night, but I was not trading. I have started to look at about 06:00/06:30 because it suits me to maybe make a trade before I leave home for work.

Would be good to see more input from you on here as you have done in the past.

Love and kisses

long @ 29 stops on

mg - 17 Jan 2005 12:43 - 2623 of 11056

Closed my overnight triggered short for +110 - luvverly start to the week. Can now get to my boring afternoon jobbie meeting with a smile on my face.

Off to see a bureaucrat for machiavellian discussion where he doesn't tell me what he knows and I ask him purile questions that I know he won't answer anyway. Bound to be so exciting - but he won't know why I've got such a big grin on my face ;)

Still got an open order to buy sitting @ 600. Be nice if that triggers and it bounces back - that would be orgasmic !!!

mostrader - 17 Jan 2005 12:44 - 2624 of 11056

steady mg........

mg - 17 Jan 2005 12:51 - 2625 of 11056

PS
Looking at the Daily Chart I think we're close to a major crossover in the MAs - could be big time down move the way I read it - so maybe I should get rid of that 600 buy. Will decide in the next hour or so........

jeffmack - 17 Jan 2005 13:05 - 2626 of 11056

MG, well done on your +110

mostrader - 17 Jan 2005 13:08 - 2627 of 11056

yep stopped out flat........wanted to c if 8630 held ..nope going to let it go think they amy push it around in the thinmrk this avro

mg - 17 Jan 2005 13:14 - 2628 of 11056

Cheers Jeff - part of my new strategy of attempting to leave positions to open about 100 points apart - sell at the top of the range buy at the bottom. Always assumes I've got the range reasonably judged. Caught me out the other day when US announced balance of trade figures - zapped very quickly only to find it soon went back below my target position.

Then, of course, there are those days when it trades in a narrow range - so no open positions either way.

Still learning - but love the buzz of cable ....... famous last words perhaps.

Bobcolby - 17 Jan 2005 13:20 - 2629 of 11056

MG nice one and well called. I will probably go long cable at 600ish if recovers against Euro.

mostrader - 17 Jan 2005 15:13 - 2630 of 11056

jeffmack - 17 Jan 2005 15:46 - 2631 of 11056

Latest currency alerts
17-01-05. Sterling has weakened to just below 1.86 against the US currency not helped by a weak Rightmove housing report. Further evidence on the sector is due overnight. Sterling is also likely to suffer from a lack of investment inflows with attention focussed on Asia. A dip below 1.8550 could expose Sterling to a decline to at least 1.84 and possibly 1.8250.
