THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

THE BEER PRAYER

Our Lager,

Which art in barrels,

Hallowed be thy drink

Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk)

At home as in the tavern,

Give us this day our foamy head,

And forgive us our spillages,

As we forgive those who spill against us,

And lead us not into incarceration,

But deliver us from hangovers,

For thine is the beer,

The bitter and the lager,

Forever and ever,

Barmen.

The Darter's Prayer

Lord, Hear this plea of a darter poor
Whose darts hit wires and then the floor
I need thy help to win my game,
And to make mine a remembered name.

After the coin toss, let me diddle
Double bull right down the middle
And if games are five- oh- ones
Help me shoot a heap of tons.

Give me a chalker whose counting flows
without the use of fingers and toes
Who moves with speed to mark the score
But, while I shoot, moves nevermore.

And as the booze and nerves cause trouble,
Please guide my dart to the proper double,
and as thy will is ever done,
Leave me not, with double one.

Bless me with the skill and ease,
Of Bristow, Lowe, Wilson and Rees,
one last request I beg, O Lord,
Please help me find an open board!

AMEN

Here's a link to a site some of you may find interesting, it was flagged up by a poster on the other side. You need to be registered with either Moneyam or ADVFN to use it.

"Good pal of mine" - without being too harsh gf, that seems to be a very rare thing! What you and I regard as good pals are classified in different ways and I'm interested to know what you regard as a "good pal". :-)

Fred1new - 16 Jun 2013 09:11 - 26181 of 81564

While Cameron is going for World Leadership.

goldfinger - 16 Jun 2013 14:16 - 26182 of 81564

Lovely and warm here in Rhodes Town, strange sun pattern though, sunny then overcast, and so on it goes.

Been looking at some propertys and its unbelievable how cheap you can buy a villa with outdoor swimming pool in the best areas aswel. £70 grand for 5 bedroomed villa.

Only problem is it means mine is way down in value.

Ahhhh never mind but I think im going to get 1 ot 2 new investmets at these prices.

Beer as usual is crap and bloating.

If somebody could export PROPER stella here they'd make a fortune.

Her indoors is looking for a new dress, so im off out on the pithhh

hilary - 16 Jun 2013 14:58 - 26183 of 81564

Rich as Croesus, yet thick as shit.

if property is cheap, there's usually a very good reason .... and cheap is not necessarily so nor even necessarily good value - as in shares!

STELLA

For years it used the slogan 'reassuringly expensive', a tag-line which reflected its big-budget marketing campaigns.

But while it aims to entice the upmarket drinker, Stella Artois is still known to the world as 'wife beater' because of its high alcohol content and perceived popularity with football hooligans.

Now inquiries by the Labour MP Tom Watson have revealed that the brand was so keen to kill off the unflattering nickname that it hired a top lobbying company to doctor its entry on the online encyclopedia Wikipedia.

Portland Communications, which is run by Tony Blair's former adviser Tim Allan, was hired to improve the beer's online reputation on behalf of its brewer, AB InBev.

Under the user name Portlander10, the lobbying company removed a reference to Stella Artois from the Wikipedia entry entitled 'Wife beater', and replaced it with a general reference to beer or lager.

The firm also tried to remove mentions of wife beater from Stella's own Wikipedia page, but was thwarted when the site's users spotted the edit and reversed it.

Went to Faliraki in my twenties, its good for cheap drink, partying and getting laid. Other than that the place was a dump, the food was crap and the drink just cheap alcohol. See if you can find a bottle of this in the local shops! Tastes rather unique (stop a cough), something to be experienced though.. :-)

cynic - 17 Jun 2013 14:21 - 26188 of 81564

thus "a man of Stroh" i assume

Haystack - 17 Jun 2013 14:23 - 26189 of 81564

Cynic

cynic - 17 Jun 2013 14:29 - 26190 of 81564

dubai is fine - if you can afford it! ...... confess i always buy 2/3 bottles of wine at duty free on the way in to drink on my balcony ...... dubai airport has an excellent DF just before you leave the baggage hall; a zillion times better selection than at LGW

Shortie - 17 Jun 2013 17:26 - 26191 of 81564

Have you ever tried Stroh Cynic? It is by far the strongest drink I've ever experienced straight.... A couple of shots of this stuff and you'll know the meaning of life..

cynic - 17 Jun 2013 18:29 - 26192 of 81564
