Cheers Jeff - part of my new strategy of attempting to leave positions to open about 100 points apart - sell at the top of the range buy at the bottom. Always assumes I've got the range reasonably judged. Caught me out the other day when US announced balance of trade figures - zapped very quickly only to find it soon went back below my target position.

Then, of course, there are those days when it trades in a narrow range - so no open positions either way.

Still learning - but love the buzz of cable ....... famous last words perhaps.

Bobcolby - 17 Jan 2005 13:20 - 2629 of 11056

MG nice one and well called. I will probably go long cable at 600ish if recovers against Euro.

17-01-05. Sterling has weakened to just below 1.86 against the US currency not helped by a weak Rightmove housing report. Further evidence on the sector is due overnight. Sterling is also likely to suffer from a lack of investment inflows with attention focussed on Asia. A dip below 1.8550 could expose Sterling to a decline to at least 1.84 and possibly 1.8250.

Returned to find my 600 buy position is now open. Not sure if I'm pleased about that - YET. Will tell you in a couple of hours. Stop and limit in place.

mostrader - 17 Jan 2005 17:02 - 2635 of 11056

mg going to be thin trading with no ny..mg

mg - 17 Jan 2005 17:06 - 2636 of 11056

Made good points on the way down so not looking to chuck them away - would be happy with 25/30. Stop would lose me same. Agree that it's likely to be a thin range from here.

mg - 17 Jan 2005 17:59 - 2637 of 11056

Looking reasonable so far. Be happy if it gets through 625 - stretched my limit up a bit more and looking to slap a stop in at breakeven - a bit too close for comfort just yet.

jeffmack - 17 Jan 2005 20:10 - 2638 of 11056

jeffmack - 18 Jan 2005 06:36 - 2643 of 11056

mng mos, your right there, flat at the mo and just catching up on some of the news before i head to work.

Maggot - 18 Jan 2005 06:39 - 2644 of 11056

Morning mostrader. Thought about a small overnight short on Cable from 1585, but didn't. Nice start for you. I have never traded Euro/Yen but see it bounced exactly off 133.33 as suggested by FXStreet.com

mostrader - 18 Jan 2005 06:51 - 2645 of 11056

mng chaps... got TIC data out in sates this afternoon, could provide volitily, exp 55/62 bill inflow of funds....
my view is these overnight moves where triggered by thin mrkts and stops been taken out eurusd traded below important fib level 30.20,if breaks 28.50 could be on cards, cable could follow 84.35 being big support under that heading for 82.00
which would be a fib retracent of 61.8 (75%) of the sept/dec rally....
of course a bad TIC number could once agin focus on the budget deficit and see usd weaken once again.
have a good day all..
and that includes you hilary,
mos
