bhunt1910 - 28 Apr 2008 16:14 - 26453 of 27111

Just got back from the AGM.

I am a long term holder so my average price is quite high and by main reason for attending was to try and determine whether this company is going to survive or go into administration.

The chairman went through the business in about 30 minutes - all resolutions passed despite one or 2 questions from the floor.

Paul Mines then gave a presentation - which I see is now available on the web site.

Must confess that I was impressed with the guy - no bullshit, no promises - but quite upbeat in terms of the fact that he believes they have a sustainable strategy that will deliver shareholder value - although he was at pains to stress that this would not happen overnight. I got a very healthy impression that Paul is of the "underpromise, over deliver" mentality.

I liked the slimmed down board and my view of the board was:

John Standen - quietly competent - a breath of fresh air after the wishy washy Philip Lovegrove - I fely he had values and played by the book. Perhaps not a big hitter.

Paul Mines - Pragmatic (probably his middle name), enthusiastic, focused on delivery and a leader. He used the phrase more than once that he would not release information to the market until the "lorries were loaded and leaving the premises" - and he was certainly not going to release an RNS for every contract signed. - a refreshing change from the previous regime. It is likely that we will get more news released in future via the web site as orders are signed and delivered

Elizabeth Filkin - a waste of space in my opinion - she was the senior non exec in charge of monitoring the performance over the past 5 years of the company as it went from 2p up to 30p and back down to 0.2p. Why she is there I do not know as I think she is as culpable of some of those that paid the price.

Clive Warner. Mmmm - not sure - I think he is a good accountant and has helped restructure the company - but not convinced of his ability in the main stream - hope I am wrong.

Paul would not commit to any forecasts of sales or breakeven - keeping that info very close to his chest - but what did come across was the very high level of interest from all sorts of suppliers and the very high number of trials that were taking place. It was almost (my interpretation) that they were being swamped with enquiries and requests for trials and were not able to satisfy demand - hence I guess the increase in sales staff and need to recrruit more technical staff.

Paul was at lengths to stress that our products were not as good as some of the petro chemical products - and in some cases a long way from being competitive - but that the gap was closing all of the time.

Aquasol has limited ongoing development - sufficient to retain existing loyalties
Biotec is now capable of 24*7 production up to a maximum of somewhere between 12 - 20 kilotons per annum ( I think he said we are producing about 3 kilotons per annum at the moment).- with a 48% increase in sales over past year

My overall conclusion.

I am not going to loose any more money.
2008 will be a turning point
Stanelco is still best in breed and has competitive advantage over others coming into the market.
Success will not happen overnight - indeed it may well take 2 or 3 years for Stanelco to really start moving its sp
Paul has set the agenda for the company - things like cigarrete filters, whilst not entirely dismissed - are not a priority. His priorities are clearly set out in the Report and accounts.
Paul is a leader and will not let other things that do not add shareholder value distract his management team.
One gets the impression that ,at last, the company is being run in a much more professional manner.

Must emphasise that this is my own personal view - and others may disagree - but I hope I have got the facts correct - I am sure others will comment as appropriate

oblomov - 28 Apr 2008 16:24 - 26454 of 27111

Thanks for the 'reports' Barry and Tony - appreciated.

halifax - 28 Apr 2008 16:28 - 26456 of 27111

So Paul is going to lead us to the promised land!

kimoldfield - 28 Apr 2008 16:38 - 26457 of 27111

Tony and Baz, thanks for sharing the info. Looks like I don't have to give up on this company ......yet!

bhunt1910 - 28 Apr 2008 16:42 - 26458 of 27111

Oh I still see plenty of volatility - but at one stage I thought this compamy was dead - I dont any more. It will be a long haul and it wont happen overnight - so not a company for making a quick buck on - imv. More one for the long term.

My guess is 35 by Xmas - 2109!!!!

blanche - 28 Apr 2008 16:46 - 26459 of 27111

Thanks for sharing info. Iam in for the long haul. I think we will get a rise in the sp tommorrow after shaking out some more weak holders today IMO.

greekman - 28 Apr 2008 16:59 - 26460 of 27111

Yes, thanks for the AGM update.
Whilst not fully convinced by a long shot (as I am sure most will still be as I am, the skeptical, jam tomorrow or never types) I would sooner have no or slow news than the forever spin of the past.
So I will lay off the get at Stanelco comments for at least 12 months (unless they give cause) and give them the chance/benefit of the doubt.
Lets just all hope the current board members are worth the time and effort.
Time as they say will tell!

halifax - 28 Apr 2008 17:14 - 26461 of 27111

So bullshit has once again baffled brains!

hewittalan6 - 28 Apr 2008 17:35 - 26462 of 27111

Thanks for the reports, guys.
It would be a record breaking company that couldn't make a sale in this climate, in this arena!!
If Greek is going to lay off SEO bashing I need to give him something to write about so I'll finish by saying I'll sit on my stump and wait for some action..........

bhunt1910 - 28 Apr 2008 17:49 - 26463 of 27111

Not like you alan ??

tweenie - 28 Apr 2008 17:51 - 26464 of 27111

It was'nt so much an AGM as a statement of common purpose. PM not forthcoming at all, nothing new- yes loads of trials etc but no timelines , no names, no blame. Was i impressed? I had had a few sherberts the night before so was easily pleased , but i guess Mr Mines glass is neither half full or half empty-it just contains a quantity of solvent in line with expectations.
Will i be selling. No. I like the agricultural trials- easy money. i like the tubes , i like the creditabal partner for frogcrap. Am I pleased. No. am i depressed? well there was KK's wiped off my investment this morning , but I am nascent at present in line with my lower expectations. I tried to get a few answers- fat chance. I think the interims should enlighten all from what i gathered but who knows if i was being fed a line. Still non the wiser re future but happy that it ain't going tits up overnight. will i buy anymore- depends on them actually delivering a proper deal not a promise/trials. Another snipped worth a mention was the ART instalation by Melanie something, I got impression it's rerlease might bee coupled with good news. have a hangover, I made some notes on PDA but vison too blurred to read proparly. See you all tomorrow.

Mad Pad - 28 Apr 2008 18:13 - 26465 of 27111

At the AGM with Tony and Barry but not pub!A few more facts1)Capacity of Biotec running at 24//7 12,000 to 20,000 tonnes per annum,Paul couldn't be closer than that.Anyone able to crunch that?2)Stanelco only use about 20% of their output from Biotec the rest being sold to Sphere,at least that was how I interpreted the answer to my question.3)Couldn't get an answer as to who Spheres end users were but most of thier production was thin film such as bags Paul said.4)In answer to my question "is a share consolidation on the cards" the reply was "we have been advised against it"5)Greenseal is dead for food trays but may have other applications and patent issues with reagard to same are being looked after....Overall I'm very happy to keep holding and have more confidence in the way forward now than at this time last year. What is quite clear is that the board don't want a repeat of the fiasco of a few years ago with the share price flying on the expected roll out of Greenseal etc,as Paul said "when the lorries start leaving fully loaded then we will make an announcement"..so hang on in there for the long term but don't expect miracles overnight or serial positive RNS's like the old days.HW wasn't there either!Off for a bottle of claret.

Fred1new - 28 Apr 2008 18:47 - 26466 of 27111

Thanks to all for information update and opinion.

Tonyrelaxes - 28 Apr 2008 21:04 - 26467 of 27111

Baz and Boldtrader, we did well leaving when we did - looks like the party continued well after us!

Sir Mark's post on ADVFN for those who don't go there.

-
Ok Guys and Girls
for the record I didn't eat any of your fish Lukey

Right my two pennies worth not that mine will be written anyware near as good as the prevoius posters (exspecialy after 5 pints) well at elast now I have an excuse

Right Mr Mines let face it after conversations my mind was made up along time ago and he dissapoint today...... upbeat is not in his volcablary (sod it thats how I'm spelling it) there was a lovely fistey young lady with a beray who I don't think will be allowed back next year as she was quite rude and sadley sow as she had some great points, picking on Mines not beeing upbeat with his statements / he came back with poor replys to her questions IMO but as she was a little agressive with her nature she didn't nail him ....so a lesson learned for that young lady.

Her comment was refering to Mr Mines always appearing to be negative all the time and is there a need to im one sentance say how we are a market leader and in the next breath say thwat we may lose contracts.....her points where very valid but a poor delivery IMo.

So my take on today well after printing off my RNS from from this site this morning I porceeded to goto the AGM however I didn't read the address details correctly and ended up at iii registered office....lol f'king great at 10.00am ...so a quick black cab to the correct address and was intime for mr Mines's presentation..

He done the ussaul breif that you would have now seen on the website and during this presentation we gave him some quick fire questions oif which some he handled well and some he wouldn't comment on like

Q. When will we be at break even...
A. They couldn't comment on this as this would have to be announced to the rest of the market at the same time...

Q.Whats happening about the ciggy filters
A. Shelved for the time being...
**********************************************
Questions that he did answer during and after the AGM that are of interest rather than me do a step by step as I'm half cut and this could go on forever..

One big pottential client has been trailing our product for some time is our PROGMAT this has been trailed and we are looking to proceed with a "credible partner in the USA" after the AGM in a very unformal chat with Mines and a few sharholders the last thing I asked him was "How's it going with Sealed Air" well the yehhh hhmmm lol that came after confirmed to me thart it's Sealed Air...he's laughter was for the fact I caught him unawares IMO

Current Trials
***********
Colgate
Carex

Deals currently in motion
********************
CREDIT CARDS
TELEPHONE Cards
Both of which are contributing to our bottom line already.

Also but Not confirmed at today's meetuing Body Shop & L'Oreal
So we are now finaly mixing it with the big boys and the movement is only oneway at the moment as far as the business trading is going.

also on the RF side the said thing where doing very well, and when questioned would mines look to sell this business off to concentrate on the BIOPLAST biz he said they did look at it but felt the two could both add sharholder value.

Mines is a very nice bloke and does has the shareholder interest at hart but also has his reputation on the line aslo and he is playing things down deliberatly to install faith to the instituions.

I also ask him what the relationship is with sphere now days and he copmmented that things are good....I then dug deeper and ask are things now getting better as we are taking more of our fair share of Bioplast and he confirmed this has help relations as you will understand.

also as for Stanelco we are unable to compete with Sphere regards to plastic bags so that hopefully would anser someones question (Why can't we supply the supermarket chains over here)

I am not going to bother going back over this to proof read it as I doubt I am in anyfit state to rectify my mistakes ....lol

I will add tomorrow

But all in all a very good stock right now and I will top up on any weakness ...oyes when ask about purchashing stock Mr Mines said he already has great incentives and bonuses to get the biz moving forward and said that this was a private matter .....

boldtrader - 28 Apr 2008 22:30 - 26468 of 27111

Tony,Barry, can i just say it was a pleasure to meet you both today and many thanks for your company in the pub! As you know i travelled many miles to attend the agm this morning(now on a borrowed computer) will travel back north tomorrow.
The RNS news service and bulletin boards can only tell you so much, but meeting the SEO directors eyeball to eyeball tells you much more.I dont for one minute think we are totally out of the woods but there is now plenty of light showing through.
I believe I'am correct in saying that Paul mines confirmed that they had as many potential customer trials ongoing as they could presently cope with and also that Aquasol would be producing revenue next year(2009).Although he could not be drawn to name names or timescales he did say that they were trialling with some household names. He came across a straight sort of guy and us older northerners can be a pretty good judge of character!!
Anyhow I'am rambling but in conclusion I will say that it was worth my journey,I will be holding and may even add through the summer if the SP languishes.
Good luck to all holders and cheers.

For those that are not used to this crap, I can just say a few things : if you buy this, then let it go up (if possible ) and then get out !, those that are in : dump this....why punish yourselves on a ridiculous stock....even if you are at a loss : realise this loss (unless you are in an Isa), and then buy something sensible, some of the other blogs above don't make sense ....so buy...it goes up ...get your little bit of profit and then into something that you will not be so worried about !.

greekman - 29 Apr 2008 07:55 - 26470 of 27111

Anyone know the name of the biggest pub chain within a square mile of the location of next years AGM, as reading the previous posts, I can't fail buying shares in such a company. Bye Ek, sum booze must hav bin suped last 2 nites.
But seriously, thanks re all the AGM reports, and I hope your hangovers are not too bad.

PATISEAR - 29 Apr 2008 10:08 - 26471 of 27111

Mad Pad

Thanks to you all for your AGM reports, they are most appreciated.

Can you confirm from your post:
'A few more facts1)Capacity of Biotec running at 24//7 12,000 to 20,000 tonnes per annum,Paul couldn't be closer than that.'

Are Biotec actually running at capacity 24/7?
Thanks.

bhunt1910 - 29 Apr 2008 10:32 - 26472 of 27111

Patisear - Paul was quite vague as he said it depended on a number of different things - and that although they now had the ability to run 24/7 - they are not actually running 24/7 so difficult to estimate throughput ,but capacity was somewhere between 12 - 20 kilotonnes and I think he said that current production was running at approx 3 kilotonnes. - so plenty of room for expansion
