How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

A sneak preview....http://www.betangel.com

Scrip

looks interesting and very helpful.

Like the look of the fill or kill and trailing stops especially. Appears to negate the need to flick back and forth between ABPro and betfair. Dont understand the 2 different levels of stops but dare say all will become clear.

Any idea of what the full package is going to cost?

Scrip - just seen the demo and like the look of it. Also very pleased you recognise the quality of Plymouth Argyle :-)

Scrip,

Looks impressive, thank you for posting the link. Now can you just keep the pressure on the developers to get it finished. :-)

bakko - 10 May 2005 10:17 - 2661 of 10502

Scrip,

Looks pretty good.

I, too, like the trailing stop loss facility as it can be a life saver when needing to get out of potentially catastrophic situations.

I'm just getting a little red cross in the corner. Anyone know what I've done to block it?

Scripophilist - 10 May 2005 10:21 - 2663 of 10502

Thanks for the comments.

We have worked hard to make it as foolproof as possible. So much so that I can go make a cup of tea during trading and it will sit there and happily work away. We are pretty close to getting it out the door. We just spent ages testing it (you don't want it to go AWOL with large stakes) and we also couldn't stop adding features. So we thought we would draw a line in the sand and get it out there.

You could use it happily in its current form but it just needs a bit of tidying and tightening up.

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 11:02 - 2664 of 10502

baks,

Have you got a live site for the Hamburg scores?

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 11:09 - 2665 of 10502

John

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 11:11 - 2666 of 10502

Morning John

www.dtb-tennis.de

Its all in german but you'll at least understand the scoring!

Although its supposed to be live I'm finding that its a bit slow on the updates.

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 11:25 - 2669 of 10502

Looks like that site has just gone down baks.
I see what you mean about big swings. Be nice to get on the right side of one of those.

bakko - 10 May 2005 11:39 - 2670 of 10502

John,

You may need to update it every so often as its a bit temperamental since yesterday.

However, its OK this end.

German reliability?? LOL

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 11:40 - 2671 of 10502

I can't get it up my end (if you'll pardon the expression).

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 11:41 - 2672 of 10502

Steve, most of those dates look OK. I'll check were not off to the The Lakes on any of them and let you know.

Scripophilist - 10 May 2005 13:56 - 2673 of 10502

Just been offered a ticket for the match on Sunday. Not sure if I want to be there really but can't pass up the opportunity for sure.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 19:36 - 2674 of 10502

Anyone trading manure vs chelski tonite - united look a bit skinny to me, not sure whether to lay man u or to back chelsea - going to watch the first 5-10 mins before taking a position

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 19:39 - 2675 of 10502

Difficult one Steve, not sure the best way to play it. Should leave it alone I think but may play small stakes for fun.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 19:58 - 2676 of 10502

John

just surprised how different the prices are compared to whe arsenal played chelsea last month, i think arsenal were about 2.7 and chelsea 3.1 compared to tonite where man u are 2.2 and chelsea 4.1 - are chelsea putting a full side out???
