PATISEAR - 11 Jul 2008 16:15 - 26603 of 27111

Some steady buying over last few days on Plusmarkets.

greekman - 11 Jul 2008 16:15 - 26604 of 27111

Anyone any idea why SEO are up 17.78%, especially when the market as a whole is having such a c**p day, or is it the usual up for no reason today, back down on Monday.
Don't think it can be shorters closing positions as the sp has not fluctuated much of late. Or am I also missing something.

PATISEAR - 11 Jul 2008 16:18 - 26605 of 27111

Post from other thread.

dealerdear - 25 Jul 2008 13:54 - 26609 of 27111

Cheers

Somebody knows something that is for sure.
Maybe just a technical rally.

driver - 25 Jul 2008 14:25 - 26610 of 27111

dealerdear
Yes

greekman - 25 Jul 2008 17:25 - 26611 of 27111

And up 25.49% on the day with as yet no justifiable reason. If there is such a reason then someones in the know, or it could be similar to the last 3 such rises, whereas the sp steadily drops over the coming days/weeks.
If course I'm not suggesting the possibility of someone chasing up the price in order to start the shorting merry go round again. Perish the thought.
Whatever is happening we (PI's) will be the last to know.

greekman - 27 Jul 2008 18:52 - 26612 of 27111

Just a thought but is there any possible connection between Fridays increase and BT's future plans.
As there is as yet no known reason why SEO's price shot up on Friday, I put my brain into serious mode (something I rarely do know days) and my thoughts wandered into a possible link. Some might say my brain has wandered a bit too much of late but here goes.
About a week ago BT announced that their future intention was to take a lead in giving mass coverage of the next generation broadband by spending many millions of pounds on fiber optics. Such a project would require a massive undertaking on the part of BT and no doubt their suppliers of optic fibers. No doubt the competition (those big enough to challenge) will wish to follow as no doubt if BT reach a position that they can state their latest technology surpasses such competition packages the challenge of unfair monopoly would not apply, much like several years ago re land line phone connections.
Now Stanelco as we know have been suppliers of fiber optical furnaces for many years, this side of the business being sidelined until recently.
The following is from the interim results.......
'RF was the traditional base of the group and has been re-invigorated to seek and
service business opportunities in its loyal market; this change in approach is
capturing new business, encouraging existing customers to increase volumes and
re-activating former customers'.
As BT would have been researching production and supply time for no doubt several months before announcing their plans, could there be a deal lurking in the background of those in the know.
Does anyone know how high in the list of fiber optic furnace manufacturers Stanelco stands.
Probably a real long shot but as said, Just a thought.

I know just how you feel.

tweenie - 29 Jul 2008 12:43 - 26615 of 27111

Hello LT holders.

Thought I might have missed some news over the weekend- what with the nice weather was otherwise engaged.
Don't know whether to be dissapointed/happy with the rise.
Still holding, but reluctant to purcase any more without sales.
No doubt will rise upto interims, then drop on the promise of 'jam tomorrow'

wish you all well

dealerdear - 29 Jul 2008 13:41 - 26616 of 27111

I thnk it was probably all a fuss about nothing.
MM's playing games,
As if they haven't got enough of our money!

greekman - 29 Jul 2008 14:02 - 26617 of 27111

Agreed it does look like it. With shares as with everything else, those with enough money can and do manipulate the price, although some still argue that share manipulation does not exist.
Shares are a commodity much as everything else.

lostalot - 01 Aug 2008 12:49 - 26618 of 27111

Hi Grekman hopw all is well ? are you coming to the marchwood on the 1st September...???

greekman - 01 Aug 2008 17:26 - 26619 of 27111

greekman - 11 Aug 2008 12:04 - 26620 of 27111

According to The Daily Telegraph, Asda are commencing sales of milk in cardboard containers. These containers have an inner biodegradable bag (presumably of biodegradable plastic). The cardboard bottles as they are called can be recycled or used for compost. The intention is to go nationwide.
The carbon foot print of these containers is 48% lower that the all plastic containers we usually see.
As Stanelco were initially trialing biodegradable bags with Asda, I wonder if they are in any way linked to this product.
I very much doubt it but is it possible.
Thought anyone.

nkirkup - 11 Aug 2008 12:38 - 26621 of 27111

Surely they would have to issue RNS on this news today, if they were involved.
Has anyone asked (phoned) the company yet.

greekman - 11 Aug 2008 12:52 - 26622 of 27111

A couple of years ago I would have agreed with you as they released RNS's like they were going out of fashion. IF and it's a big IF there is a link there might be a release as such a tie-up would obviously effect the sp in a fairly big way. But if you look over the last 12/18 months Stanelco have gone from releasing such news straight away to delaying such up to the LSE time limits. They are also on record as stating that they do not intend to release news of every contract (although 1 would be nice).
I only posted as it appears Stanelco are dead in the water regarding news or any hints of progress, and I am probably clutching at proverbial straws.
As to contacting the company, their PR is worse than useless. Also if there was a connection they would not confirm or deny, as they would state such was market sensitive and could not be released except via a general notification, as has happened many times before.
