Hi Grekman hopw all is well ? are you coming to the marchwood on the 1st September...???

greekman - 01 Aug 2008 17:26 - 26619 of 27111

Hi Lostalot,

Probably not as hope to be in Egypt.

Regards Greek.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Asda are commencing sales of milk in cardboard containers. These containers have an inner biodegradable bag (presumably of biodegradable plastic). The cardboard bottles as they are called can be recycled or used for compost. The intention is to go nationwide.
The carbon foot print of these containers is 48% lower that the all plastic containers we usually see.
As Stanelco were initially trialing biodegradable bags with Asda, I wonder if they are in any way linked to this product.
I very much doubt it but is it possible.
Thought anyone.

Surely they would have to issue RNS on this news today, if they were involved.
Has anyone asked (phoned) the company yet.

greekman - 11 Aug 2008 12:52 - 26622 of 27111

A couple of years ago I would have agreed with you as they released RNS's like they were going out of fashion. IF and it's a big IF there is a link there might be a release as such a tie-up would obviously effect the sp in a fairly big way. But if you look over the last 12/18 months Stanelco have gone from releasing such news straight away to delaying such up to the LSE time limits. They are also on record as stating that they do not intend to release news of every contract (although 1 would be nice).
I only posted as it appears Stanelco are dead in the water regarding news or any hints of progress, and I am probably clutching at proverbial straws.
As to contacting the company, their PR is worse than useless. Also if there was a connection they would not confirm or deny, as they would state such was market sensitive and could not be released except via a general notification, as has happened many times before.

halifax - 11 Aug 2008 12:57 - 26624 of 27111

Why not ask ASDA?

greekman - 11 Aug 2008 13:02 - 26625 of 27111

nkirkup.
Cut/pasted your link, does not work. Can you post it as a link please.

nkirkup - 11 Aug 2008 13:06 - 26626 of 27111

Just email SEO, will let you know the reply.

halifax - 11 Aug 2008 13:12 - 26627 of 27111

See ASDA media centre web site which states the milk bottles are supplied by GreenBottle, no mention of any SEO involvement.

nkirkup - 11 Aug 2008 13:15 - 26628 of 27111

Yes, but do GreenBottle source the inner bio-plastic bag from SEO!

halifax - 11 Aug 2008 13:16 - 26629 of 27111

Read the news release!

greekman - 11 Aug 2008 13:24 - 26630 of 27111

Read the Asda news and although no mention of Stanelco's involvement it does not state where the bio-plastic is sourced from, although as GreenBottle have had a connection with Asda for some time I would have thought any connection GreenBottle/Stanelco would be public knowledge. So it is looking that yet another company has/is leapfrogging Stanelco in the bio race. Look forward to any reply from nkirkup's e-mail but not holding my breath for them to reply or/and state anything informative.

tweenie - 11 Aug 2008 13:31 - 26631 of 27111

the lining is NOT biodegradeable it is polythene based.
It can however be made from starch if required.
Source therefore would probably be natureworks- as pla supplier to all including seo.
Sorry to piss on anyones fire.

halifax - 11 Aug 2008 13:37 - 26632 of 27111

Also see GreenBottle web site for more information.

greekman - 11 Aug 2008 15:17 - 26635 of 27111

Slightly of thread but, most days I also follow SEO trades on Plus Markets. Since they have changed their site it appears I can now only see the last 5 trades. Anyone else notice this.

greekman - 12 Aug 2008 07:58 - 26636 of 27111

Heat is Hot again.

Long article that gives a good run down of tray/container/bottle sealing and why the Stanelco Greanseal system and similar technology appears to be dead for the present. It also shows just how much competition is out there.
As it is a long article see link if interested.
