Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting
in the middle of a goldmine!
This company through
their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full
advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year.
Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies
and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund
placements on behalf of the companies they represent.
|
|
On first sight, the
fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector
makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because
it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think
again!
DGT bring new companies
to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated"
on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company
is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk
of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies
must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring
income).
Because DGT also act
as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging
placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In
addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work,
they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may
need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash
to speed growth.
Current NOMADships:
28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000
per year)
Current on-going Brokerage
agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)
For flotations, depending
on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000
to 100,000+
For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12%
of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M
though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000
!
These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances
and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk
of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back
to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket.
Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge
and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another
healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation
means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for
years, with DGT having to do very little.
New clients gained in 2005 are:

Eric, I don't think you will have a resolution to whether the SP will be better supported as 'consolidated' tomorrow. In the short term it may well dip further, although I don't hold with the statement that ALL consolidated stocks fall. I really do think the issue with DGT is the subject of bonuses and that more than anything else is perhaps putting off PIs. There is no doubt that the company is doing extraordinarily well when compared to three years ago, yet the SP has hardly moved. I only made a decent profit because I nipped in and out, plus the benefit of buying a large chunk at 0.45p. The investors who have sat on their holding have nothing to show for their patience (yet), money that could undoubtably have shown better returns invested elsewhere.

Peter The price has effectively just stayed steady - half way between are respective views. On the whole, the comment was positive but will need time to be reflected in figures. Indication is that the first half may not be anything special. Particularly significant is the emphasis on recruitment - record to date is excellent. Bonus levels will attract good people. Overheads will be spread better so that proportionally there will eb more for the investor. But, of course, that is almost another year to wait. One couldn't argue against using funds elsewhere, your point, and coming back at the turn of the year.

It would seem logical for the 10% to be bought in soon at current prices. This should help the sp by (a) the buying volume; (b) the reduction in the available equity.

Frustrating to see the margin between buy and sell price is as high as 15%. Two significant sells, presumably profit taking, cause the sp to fall 10% but the margin discourages buyers coming in. I am wondering what has happened to the Board's commitment to buy in 10% of shares. Share is still below the radar. Another acquisition seems likely and we do need to see the critical mass up a bit.

This board is as dead as the other one no one got anything to say about this pile of crap?, too many sellers and it continues to fall the question being how far will it fall before TR is forced to come out and say something to support the SP?
No results until around August time, company not interested in issuing either news or a trading statement what SP by then?
I like many others i suspect are trapped in this one wishing they could get out, i am waiting and hoping for a wooooooooooo---oooooooooosh to get out the door, far better prospects out there than this one at least they move forward while this one always moves backwards.
I am now away for a week so i shall not watch this crap as it would spoil the holiday.

white westie You are very like my own white westie - you like barking at thin air. Interims were July last year. Generally, DGT has progressed to round about results time and then receded on lack of news. The exception was last autumn when there was a takover to announce. If you want out, look to jst before or just after the interims. Otherwise the share is a tuck it away one which one day will be rerated to reflect improving pe, solid cash flow and either results of acquisitions or as a takeover target itself. I hope our resident analyst, stockdog, keeps up his occasional analysis. Overdraft disappeared a while ago so our header is now out-of-date. Strange though that the price is still below the issue price when much has been achieved and prospects are promising.

Good to see some managemnt buying took place on Friday. Not big quantities - presumably some of the bonus. Doubt wheter they would do so if trading not good.

IS there anything interesting to say until the next results ....as usual...the pattern is set. It's not as if there is any newsflow to keep us updated to their activites......
sorry to be a little cynical - still have faith in the company performing....

Well thats the end of the last 6 months accounts and i feel the results will have to be exceptional to get us out of this hole we are in at present with the SP at 15p (0.5p) in old money.
I blame TR for no PR, News, Trading update or even a statement of we know of no reason for the fall in SP type of thing.
In the last 15mins of trading today there were 103.5K of sells.
Over the last couple of days the were 3 trades of 625K possibly all buys but all O trades, i thought maybe the buy back had started but i dont think they would be shown as O trades, would they anyone with better knowledge of the market like to comment.
If all buys why has the SP fallen 3% yesterday and 7.7% today?

The question is whether the price fall and chart indicators are merely lack of news or whether they reflect negatives in company performance. It could be the latter given that there are only nine placings listed in the CFA website for the first six months compared with 27 last year. There was a fair amount of business in the last quarter of 2006 which, based on previous periods, could benefit this reporting period but the nosies made might not be as optimistic. Any views?

Personally I think the SP reflects the excessive bonus payments TR awards himself, which is why I eventually gave up. They seem to have a sound growing business, but there isn't much left for shareholders once TR has raped the balance sheet.

Peter This could well be part of the story. I have no real idea what the bonus formula might be but obviously will be based on improved performance. This means some defenive cover against a blip in growth. It has appeared that Rawlinson, in particular, plus his people have been so busy doing business that business development can't have received many cycles of effort. So there is a potential blessing in disguise as there is more likely to be positive progress with the results.

"I cannot forecast to you the action of Rawlinson. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Rawlinson's financial interest."
Was the 1.5m a sell or a buy on Friday? The rest is peanut PI's losing heart which is not terrible relevant.

This is worse than waiting for paint to dry.
No buyers seem to be around at present and getting near results time, lets hope they are bloody good to get us out of the present rut.
On-line at present you can only sell 2.5K looks like they must have got a lot of stock to shift with all the selling of late mostly on Plus market.
Does anyone know if they have started this buy back yet?

results out any comments?
they look reasonable at first glance but they have not made the sp shoot up far yet, maybe people away and the rest still in bed and not had time to digest them yet.
this bb has been asleep for almost a month.
