Well I should be wary.....looks like it's about to dive below .50p again !.

required field - 02 Sep 2008 15:44 - 26684 of 27111

Down .01 as I spoke....going down to .40p possibly !.

Tonyrelaxes - 02 Sep 2008 16:01 - 26685 of 27111

Oblo - why not?

If for no other reason than we miss your posts!

Oilywag - 02 Sep 2008 17:48 - 26686 of 27111

'Afternoon all

I was one of the eight that visited the Stanelco offices yesterday and concur with what Tonyrelaxes has posted.

They seem to have got its act together, have sorted out their priorities, have a definite goal and have a clear stategy as to how to achieve their goal.

The bioplastic market is growing at a compound rate of 25% pa and I feel confident that Stanelco with grow by more than that figure year on year at least for the next three or so years. I feel that they will be cash positive sometime next year.

A good proportion of their sales are being generated by customer referrals, and enquiries and also repeat business.

Paul Mines said yesterday that the company will have coverage during Quarter 4 from brokers. He would not be allowing or encouraging that unless he was sure that there is a positive message to impart to the market..

I feel confident that the company has turned the corner in a screeching hand brake turn and is accelerating away to better things with Jeremy Clarkson shouting encouragment from the sidelines.

The oily one

Tonyrelaxes - 02 Sep 2008 18:20 - 26687 of 27111

An interesting number from yesterday, and on the Highlights page of the Presentation (slides on SEO website) - "direct sales yielded a 77% success rate of converting trials to production quantity orders in BioPlastics".

- - - - -
On a lighter note, the 'lowest common denominator' to this 77:23 ratio means at least 10 orders from 13 trials to this whole number %age, rounded up or down.

Oh, if only the previous management(s) had converted just one trial to an order. Remember WallMart, CocaCola, McDonalds to quote but 3. Yes, and lets not forget SealedAir (oops I've said too much).

- - - - -
Oily, the "screeching hand brake turn and is accelerating away" you heard was Sir Mark's Lamborghini - you must have had your eyes closed at my own driving! (I'm not used to cars. Life is a motorcycle).

moneyplus - 02 Sep 2008 20:52 - 26688 of 27111

did he buy the lambo by trading his millions of seo shares do you think???

lostalot - 03 Sep 2008 17:47 - 26689 of 27111

No .....lol

I heard he had to sell it .....margin call :)

Only joking

oblomov - 04 Sep 2008 09:05 - 26690 of 27111

Oily,

have you bought back in? I thought you were completely out some time ago.

Tonyrelaxes - 04 Sep 2008 10:00 - 26691 of 27111

Oblo
He's back not in (yet!)

He just likes revisiting the scene of the crime - a well known behaviour pattern.

Oilywag - 04 Sep 2008 13:12 - 26692 of 27111

oblomov

I am sitting and watching.

As per my post above. the new management have a firm handle on things and have turned the company around.

I expect it, based on the meeting in Southampton on Monday, to be cashflow positive by the first half of 2009 if not before.

If the 'coverage' which Paul Mines has promised in Q4 is really positive, then I shall be taking a new position in SEO.

The oily one

greekman - 04 Sep 2008 14:51 - 26693 of 27111

Tonyrelaxes/Oilywag,

Thanks for the update, info and opinions on your visit.
The impression I got reading between the lines of the last results were as such, but obviously an eye to eye so to speak must be worth more.

Appreciated, Greek.

Tonyrelaxes - 04 Sep 2008 17:03 - 26694 of 27111

Thanks Greek.
I dont know if you follow other freds but I posted this elsewhere yesterday -
- - - - - - - -
After a day of mulling over Mondays visit and comparing notes with some other attendees about 'off meeting' informal conversations and comments, I remain very happy to stay in.

Statements towards this include-
-the 77% convertion of trials into production orders.
-400% increase in BioPlastic direct sales.
-the BioPlast market is forecast to expand at least at 25% compound pa for the next 5 years and the statement "we expect to be ahead of that"

Other of my considerations include-
-although no full year forecasts have been made/announced they will be in an analysts note to be published in Q4. That shows management caution in not risking incorrect forecasts and leaving little time for falling short - and a confidence to tell us this now. (See also final bullet point of Outlook part of the presentation slides)
-an inkling in my mind(from informal seemingly unrelated comments made separately by 2 different of the SEO people present, to me and another attendees) that the preceeding bullet point might also be quite near. Something that will require shareholder approval (EGM?) might well be in the offing - not imminently though or they would have clamped up! Or maybe I am confusing gold with iron pyrites.

Thanks again.

3. BASIS OF CONSOLIDATION
The Group interim statements consolidate the results of the company and all of its subsidiary undertakings drawn up to 30 June 2008.
Subsidiaries are entities over which the Group has the power to control the financial and operating policies so as to obtain benefits from its activities. The Group obtains and exercises control through voting rights. At 30 June 2008 the subsidiary undertakings were Stanelco RF Technologies Limited, Stanelco Products Limited, InGel Technologies Limited, Zircotec Limited, Adept Polymers Limited, Aquasol Limited, Stanelco Inc, Biotec Holding GmbH Group, Biotec Biologische Naturverpackungen GmbH & Co KG and Biotec Biologische Naturverpackungen Forschungs-und Entwicklungs GmbH. During the 6 month period to 30 June 2008 the subsidiary undertakings InGel Industrial Limited, Starpol Packaging Systems Limited, Greenseal Technologies Inc and Starpol Edible Films Limited which were all dormant since incorporation were closed.

The Group's shareholding in Biotec is 50 per cent. However the Group is party to an agreement giving it a casting vote over all material
decisions and so Biotec is accounted for as a subsidiary on the basis of control.

Can anyone clarify to what extent Biotec's contribution is incorporated into SEO's accounts:
1) 50% of Biotec's profit/loss as previously proposed here

or

2) Biotec's full account as I believe the above to indicate

Tonyrelaxes - 08 Sep 2008 13:54 - 26697 of 27111

Garyble
Sadly the years have eroded what I learned about Consolidated Accounts and the principles involved in eliminating Minority Interests.
Even then, it was the minimum to pass exams and qualify and never encountered in life.

Maybe there is a younger, keener person around who would like to impress me - and you!

garyble - 08 Sep 2008 15:08 - 26698 of 27111

Thanks Tony.

My concern is what happens when the golden share period runs out!

PATISEAR - 08 Sep 2008 15:47 - 26699 of 27111

Sphere take-over?

Tonyrelaxes - 08 Sep 2008 16:40 - 26700 of 27111

G
As a guess, from what they tried to instill into me in the 60's (when I was more interested in other figures) (still am for that matter!) -

When the Golden Share expires, BioTec becomes a pure 50% holding and as such the requirement for Consolidation of the Accounts ceases. Hence the present qualification about how they consider the Golden Share to make it "a subsidiary on the basis of control". I would add "for the time being"

However, from then, although the JV dales, costs etc may not be consolidated, our 50% share of any profit or loss from the company has to be included in SEO Accounts - and previous year comparitive figures probably adjusted to be in line with the new basis. Also our share in the JV assets be included in the Balance Sheet as a Trade Investment, at the lower of Cost or Net Current Value.

I add the caveat that this is reaching back in my memory to an era long before Financial Accounting Standards and Statements of Accounting Practices (or whatever these things are called) started being spewed out.

greekman - 08 Sep 2008 16:42 - 26701 of 27111

Tonyrelaxes,

Thanks re the above. The mud is a bit clearer now.

Regards Greek.
