How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I can't get it up my end (if you'll pardon the expression).

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 11:41 - 2672 of 10502

Steve, most of those dates look OK. I'll check were not off to the The Lakes on any of them and let you know.

Scripophilist - 10 May 2005 13:56 - 2673 of 10502

Just been offered a ticket for the match on Sunday. Not sure if I want to be there really but can't pass up the opportunity for sure.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 19:36 - 2674 of 10502

Anyone trading manure vs chelski tonite - united look a bit skinny to me, not sure whether to lay man u or to back chelsea - going to watch the first 5-10 mins before taking a position

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 19:39 - 2675 of 10502

Difficult one Steve, not sure the best way to play it. Should leave it alone I think but may play small stakes for fun.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 19:58 - 2676 of 10502

John

just surprised how different the prices are compared to whe arsenal played chelsea last month, i think arsenal were about 2.7 and chelsea 3.1 compared to tonite where man u are 2.2 and chelsea 4.1 - are chelsea putting a full side out???

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 20:01 - 2677 of 10502

Chelsea - strange line up, no Terry, no Drogba, no wide player - may explain the prices

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 20:03 - 2678 of 10502

United putting a strong side out too.

The match has meaning for United only I think.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 20:09 - 2679 of 10502

laid united at 2.14, backed at 2.18 - not yet greened up lol

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 20:10 - 2680 of 10502

profit going to be transferred to laying united

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 20:19 - 2681 of 10502

good goal tiago - is this going to turn into an exhibition game???

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 20:19 - 2682 of 10502

Nice one.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 20:42 - 2683 of 10502

what price rooney to get sent off and miss the cup final ???

Harlosh - 10 May 2005 20:48 - 2684 of 10502

He's the 'best player on the pitch' according to 5 Live.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 20:59 - 2685 of 10502

Theyre watching a different game to me then lol - everytime he gets the ball 30-40yds out hes shooting, most are getting blocked and one he pulled so wide van nistelroy turned it in from the 6 yd line - not once has he looked up and try to play a team mate in

Scripophilist - 10 May 2005 21:04 - 2686 of 10502

Any thoughts on whether ManU will put a full strength team out this Sunday?

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 21:16 - 2687 of 10502

Highly unlikely imho

i would expect that 2 or 3 will be rested for the cup final - would be very surprised if Keane plays and also likely to rest rooney and ronaldo and possibly van nistelroy/scholes imo - also any one looking a risk for a sending off will be substituted quickly.

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 21:21 - 2688 of 10502

what a cool finish

Fundamentalist - 10 May 2005 21:24 - 2689 of 10502

United losing the plot - Ronaldo a pathetic dive, Van Nistelroy booked for kicking the ball away, 2 lectures for Rooney for dissent

Scripophilist - 10 May 2005 21:32 - 2690 of 10502

VN doesn't seem to have had much impact this year does he?
