THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

totally irrelevant .... in the above i was comparing their visual appeal, and AM's (lack of) charisma with that of nick faldo

Haystack,

Personally, I would have said the biggest headache facing web designers nowadays is accommodating all of the different screen resolutions and getting the important bits of their content to display above the fold. Cross-browser compatibility shouldn't even be an issue if a page is W3 compliant. And even if the designer is using some kind of desktop HTML editing software or a CMS script or an off the shelf theme then, once the designer has spent a bit of time at the outset in getting the master template page(s) W3 compliant, all of the content should just drop in.

In the case of the Halifax site, I seem to recall that some of their errors were very basic, such as including tags for table rows and cells into the code before declaring the table itself. There's no excuse for that whatsoever and it shouldn't take them more than a few minutes to tidy the code up to ensure cross-browser compatibility. It probably takes them longer to provide the customer support and advise clients like 3m to change browser than it would do to fix the errors.

What the hell has charisma got to do with sporting achievement? Nick Faldo was a clothes horse for Pringle sweaters. Compared to Sevy, Faldo was a boring golfer. Well done Andy Murray!

cynic - 08 Jul 2013 07:26 - 26851 of 81564

also irrelevant :-) ...... spot the key word CHARISMA

skinny - 08 Jul 2013 07:29 - 26852 of 81564

I thought you were comparing his looks with eccles?

"he's marginally more attractive that bernie ecclestone, though his wallet is not as stunningly fat nick faldo is/was more charismatic!"

Lets face it a blancmange has more charisma than Faldo and is more attractive than Ecclestone.

Well done Murray - a fantastic achievement!

Well Hilary I have enabled firefox this morning and it hasn't made one jot of difference so have rung the Halifax and am awaiting a phone call, I doubt they will ring back so if not I shall go to the local branch again and heaven help them. I really don't need this stress at this moment in time. Nearly every single time I go to sign in it goes into freeze mode and if on the odd occasion it accepts my password etc. and I go into valuation, account management etc., it freezes and won't go any further until I get out of the dam thing. Ugh! what an outfit, I just cannot believe it worked fine for years. Oh! happy days. Will inform you later of the outcome if any, I shan't hold my breath.

cynic - 08 Jul 2013 09:35 - 26854 of 81564

indeed very well done AM, and assuredly some of the shots and rallies were outstanding or even amazing ..... but that doesn't mean i have to warm to the guy one little bit

3 monkies - 08 Jul 2013 09:37 - 26855 of 81564

Just had a very nice lady on and up and running now. It was in my favourites bar and out of date as they are updating all the time. Google Chrome apparently did not like the website so firefox has done the trick. Wish this could have been done last Wed., in the bank, however it is now. Many thanks all - tehnology very clever but a pain when it creates a problem as we all know.

doodlebug4 - 08 Jul 2013 09:52 - 26856 of 81564

cynic - if you watch the documentary on BBC tonight "Andy Murray - the man behind the racquet" then you might begin to understand the guy and what makes him tick.

cynic - 08 Jul 2013 09:56 - 26857 of 81564

as i am on holiday in provence, i am spared that, not that i would watch even if i was at home ....... sort of sorry, but i just don't care for the chap any more than one could warm to nick faldo

Stan - 08 Jul 2013 10:12 - 26858 of 81564

Blimey he's a misery guts even on holiday as well.. suggest extending hols. by the amount of time it takes you to unwind.

Fred1new - 08 Jul 2013 10:54 - 26859 of 81564

It is good to see a Scot doing so well and winning at Wimbledon.

Also, very nice to see the Welsh Lions winning in Australia.

Interesting to see next years Six Nations.

doodlebug4 - 08 Jul 2013 10:56 - 26860 of 81564

I wouldn't even begin to compare Nick Faldo with Andy Murray. Faldo is a completely self-obsessed, egomaniac, who probably spends more time in front of a mirror admiring himself than his current wife/partner. The only thing he has in common with Murray is his work ethic = totally driven.

goldfinger - 08 Jul 2013 12:55 - 26861 of 81564

EXCELENT...... a post by Hays thats not trash..........

Haystack- 07 Jul 2013 22:39 - 26848 of 26862

Andy Murray has donated his £1.6m prize money to Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital. ..........................ends.

Well done Andy.

On the same lines Ive withdrawn £120,000 grand annual support to the Conservative party.

If they dont ring me back obviously they dont need the money.

TANKER - 08 Jul 2013 13:01 - 26862 of 81564

this government is the worst government of all time down to a coalition of crazy stupid clowns called LIBS it going to cost the torys big time but has destroyed the clowns that is good news

vote UKIP .

WE HAVE A GOV OF LIARS AND CROOKS

goldfinger - 08 Jul 2013 13:16 - 26863 of 81564

TANKER...... any ideas who to contact over party funding for UKIP???????.

Prepared to pay over /up to £200,000 grand annualy.

Haystack - 08 Jul 2013 13:25 - 26864 of 81564

£200,000 grand is £200m. Mind you, neither figure is believable.

cynic - 08 Jul 2013 13:27 - 26865 of 81564

sticky - i'ld be very surprised if you even gave £200 let alone £2,000 or multiples thereof to any party

goldfinger - 08 Jul 2013 13:34 - 26866 of 81564

Hays....... not very convincing after the Tory press/media have smoothered labour with the Mcluskey episode.

Labour 1% up on last week in first poll. then in second poll exactly same as last week.

Note aswel both Tory rags.........

electionista‏@electionista7 Jul
UK - YouGov/Sunday Times poll: CON 33%, LAB 39%, LDEM 11%, UKIP 12%

electionista‏@electionista5 Jul
UK - YouGov/Sun poll: CON 31%, LAB 39%, LDEM 11%, UKIP 12%

Fact is people....... voters always vote with their wallet/purse.

On election day it will be decided by whos going to give the individual a bigger back pocket, and its certainly not the Torries.

goldfinger - 08 Jul 2013 13:43 - 26867 of 81564

Hays FACT........ its less money they will recieve FROM ME and my club than historical.

If Cameron cares to carry on like a big kid in PMQs I reckon funding from the whole of the country will be well down.

Me and fellow members are now pushing for a new leader.

We want big Teresa or a comeback for Mick Portillo.

Other members are wanting to support UKIP. Its getting a bit frenzied, but clearly come about by Cameron and the Bullingdon boys club.

If this present lot are not moved I cant see this club ever supporting Tory again.
