Bernard M - 19 Aug 2011 12:51 - 2702 of 5370

and they will do what.

hangon - 19 Aug 2011 12:52 - 2703 of 5370

Surely the prob is that UK Banks made money from selling dodgy insurance -
Now there are no borrowers as such, so the big difference between Hi-St deposits/loans is irrelevant.
Just where will these banks make enough money to repay the Government loans...?
I suspect, we're in for a long haul, hence the reality today of LLOY=28p . . . . it's a bargain taken that they survive for 10 years, say. But the risk is they are taken oput by some event, or foreign "chancer" makes a bid and cleans up.
China or Saudi are quite capable financially and might like to own such a prestigious name.
The yield is zero, and likely to remain so.
I have a near-worthless holding....Bah!

gibby - 19 Aug 2011 14:49 - 2704 of 5370

hangon afraid not if it was just selling dodge ppi or insurance this would be a doddle
