How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Never know when they are going to suspend for the start either which makes trading difficult.

Interesting discussion

just checked my lays:

Norwich - layed at 2.34, currently 2.4
Southampton - layed at 2.38, currently 2.48
West Brom - layed at 1.69, currently 1.71
Palace layed at 2.34, currently 2.32

All being left running as still think they are all way too short

Anyone trading the game tonight - is it just me or do arsenal look a bit skinny at 1.52, even with Henry back

Fundamentalist - 11 May 2005 19:58 - 2716 of 10502

Campbell, Edu and Bergkamp start, Henry on the bench, Silva out injured

Fundamentalist - 11 May 2005 19:59 - 2717 of 10502

Everton 4-5-1 with Cahill out injured - formation looks a bit like damage limitation!!!

with reference to your earlier comments regarding delayed races and not knowing when they are going off - try the attheraces website

Not on the football this evening, have been on the evening races instead. Had a good evening with no losses, but still had to get out of two positions whilst in the running which is FAR from ideal.

I wasn't help by IE crashing a few times which is being casued by the autobet refesh tool. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Fundamentalist - 11 May 2005 21:33 - 2722 of 10502

Cunningham

not trading the football - just sitting back with a beer and enjoying the exhibition.

currently 5-0 with 20 mins to go - Arsenal fans singing to Everton "Champions League - having a laugh" - by the look on his face Moyes is not laughing

Not had the problem with IE - only probs i tend to get are if betfair itself goes down or my broadband collapses

Fundamentalist - 11 May 2005 21:45 - 2723 of 10502

We want ten, we want ten lol

Scripophilist - 11 May 2005 22:03 - 2724 of 10502

Just got home, Had to do a double take on the score. Everton look like champions league finalists to me.

Fundamentalist - 11 May 2005 22:07 - 2725 of 10502

theyve just put the table up - Everton goal difference for the season - 0!!!!!!

Scripophilist - 11 May 2005 22:09 - 2726 of 10502

PMSL, Champions league, your'e having a laugh!

Fundamentalist - 11 May 2005 22:23 - 2727 of 10502

scrip - sung to the tune as you would know "harry and jim - red and white" was echoing round highbury

Have you seen the stats on the game, Arsenal had over 80% possession

My earlier comment "Arsenal look a bit skinny" - shows how much i know lol

Scripophilist - 11 May 2005 22:27 - 2728 of 10502

I saw that, had do to a double take on that as well. I could believe a match could be so one sided.

Fundamentalist - 11 May 2005 22:29 - 2729 of 10502

i know im biased but some of the football was sublime - most of the goals the ball was passed into the net at the end of a move numbering several passes - and to think henry didnt score
