That is a high %age. Elder's days to cover ratio measures the number of shares on loan that can easily be traded with the average daily volume so if there are a million shares on loan and the average daily volume is 100,000 it will take 10 days for those shares to get processed. Areading of 10 is safe but anything over is at risk of panic rally.

372p...cross my fingers

goldfinger - 10 Sep 2008 10:53 - 2721 of 3050

Falc, are you refering to Dr Elder here?. Which book please?.

The new one??.

Falcothou - 10 Sep 2008 12:06 - 2722 of 3050

Yes gold, sell and sell short. He refers to yahoo which usually gives short interest ratio and days to cover on key statistics but not it seems for sola in terms of crowded exits

goldfinger - 10 Sep 2008 12:33 - 2723 of 3050

Ive got the 'come into my trading room' so I will add this one.

many thanks.

Falcothou - 10 Sep 2008 12:36 - 2724 of 3050

It's only come out recently and you can also buy a workbook, about 30.

hlyeo98 - 10 Sep 2008 17:17 - 2725 of 3050

closed at 356p...wow.

HARRYCAT - 10 Sep 2008 19:00 - 2726 of 3050

Down 4% in the U.S. Nudging the july support level. Could go either way.

Toya - 10 Sep 2008 20:08 - 2727 of 3050

Well, it's reached the 360p level from which I thought it might bounce; be interesting to watch this over the next couple of days - didn't think it would fall below this but now looks like it may.

HARRYCAT - 10 Sep 2008 21:06 - 2728 of 3050

SOL U.S. recovered a bit to be almost flat on the day.

cynic - 15 Sep 2008 12:14 - 2729 of 3050

quite tempting to short SOLA even at this stage .... chart below shows several minor and possible support levels and interesting to note that PVCS is fractionally up, even today

cynic - 15 Sep 2008 12:59 - 2730 of 3050

except no one will lend stock, so not possible to short .... had forgotten!

required field - 15 Sep 2008 14:25 - 2731 of 3050

PVCS holding up well today....surprising with what's happening to the rest of the market !.

Toya - 19 Sep 2008 07:13 - 2732 of 3050

News out today: "short selling has been banned"....

This is going to have a mega impact, with much wider ramifications for all sorts of activities and the companies that provide the platforms to do so.

cynic - 19 Sep 2008 07:19 - 2733 of 3050

not all shorting i think you will find ..... heavy restrictions on shorting financials only

ptholden - 19 Sep 2008 07:24 - 2734 of 3050

Interesting to note from the MAs on the chart that if the 50 turns South and crosses down over the 200 we get a so called 'Death Cross'. Golden and Death crosses are usually pretty good indicators of future price performance. Also sitting on support once more so any break down now would seemingly put 200p back on the table.

Toya - 19 Sep 2008 07:30 - 2735 of 3050

Thanks Cynic and pth - I was already worried that all the fun had been taken out of trading!

cynic - 22 Sep 2008 13:11 - 2736 of 3050

with Wall Street looking to be heading for a sharp(ish) reaction after friday, a wee short here could be a good call

goldfinger - 22 Sep 2008 13:51 - 2737 of 3050

Was thinking the same thing myself cynic.

cynic - 22 Sep 2008 13:59 - 2738 of 3050
