THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Hardly anything said by Cameron on the NHS because he knows hes on a sticky wicket and his health minister has taken the flack from not only the press but the Lib/Dems this morning.

Excelent question from a labour bank bencher re- to Camerons record of not answering questions and using statistics and lies to worm out of tight situations.

He kept on about the unemployment figures (fiddled as we all know if we tell the truth) but no mention of the latest industrial production fall.

Corrupt Tory party and little wonder they are losing smaller donation providers.

Haystack - 17 Jul 2013 13:01 - 27286 of 81564

So what. There will be plenty of Labour supporters who will have interests in staying in the EU and plenty who will have interests in leaving.

Haystack - 17 Jul 2013 13:03 - 27287 of 81564

gf
The government cannot fiddle unemployment figures. They are produced by the ONS. The ONS is a separate body and made so by law passed in 2007.

TANKER - 17 Jul 2013 13:04 - 27288 of 81564

gf I feel sick to think I voted for this scum and I am not alone their are hundreds
who think the same who I speak to . the tory party are finished

Haystack - 17 Jul 2013 13:05 - 27289 of 81564

Cameron answered the health questions very well and left Miliband looking very silly.

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2013 13:09 - 27290 of 81564

BREAKING NEWS

Man City bid 35 million for Wayne Rooney

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2013 13:12 - 27291 of 81564

Ohhhh Hays are you on this planet?.

Doesnt matter who does the figures. THEY ARE FIDDLED and the liar Cameron uses them to his advantage.

He answered nothing on the NHS...........nothing. Hed been briefed to keep well away.

cynic - 17 Jul 2013 13:16 - 27292 of 81564

perhaps i'm far too cynical, but as far as I can see, all gov'ts of all hues all over the world and since time immemorial "manipulate" figures as much as they can, and obviously for their own advantage.

for hays to pretend otherwise, and the rest of you guys to point fingers like silly little schoolboys, really is disingenuous or even pathetic in the extreme ..... pots and kettles is far too generous a metaphor

Haystack - 17 Jul 2013 13:23 - 27293 of 81564

gf
How can they fiddle the figures.'The ONS has no interest in the figures being one way or another. Governments used to fix the figures certainly. That is why the ONS was set up and made independent by statute. They have reported unemployment getting worse in the past. No one then thought they were fiddling the figures. People always think figures have been fiddled when they do not suit them. No one from government works in the ONS, they are just statisticians. They use the same methods from one quarter to another. I see no reason to doubt their figures.

cynic - 17 Jul 2013 13:27 - 27294 of 81564

provided the base and method of analysis etc is consistent, then you are right .... whether or not the base or method have been "manipulated" somewhere in the past, is not really relevant .... on that basis, the figure may be wrong, but the trend and direction cannot be

Haystack - 17 Jul 2013 13:30 - 27295 of 81564

It is the trend that matters as unemployment was rising and now it is falling. Claimants are falling as well. The choice of how you calculate these figures is always open to debate, but one that has been agreed then it is the trend that counts.

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2013 13:37 - 27296 of 81564

Hays and his monkey (cynic) the figures used now give an equal weighting to somone who works 37 hours as to someone who works 1 hour. ie 1 unit

(Ive shown you the evidence before. Dont deny it.)

Thats the big change since labour were in power.

They used a fair weighting system.

TANKER - 17 Jul 2013 13:38 - 27297 of 81564

all cynic does when given facts is to ABUSE poster that should tell you what kind of person he is

goldfinger - 17 Jul 2013 13:40 - 27298 of 81564

Now lets talk about this Crosby chap.

Linton Crosby, is he actualy running this country as it would appear to be the case.
We all know he has his finger in big business in the fags industry. We all know it was him who dissuaded Cameron for going for blank cig packets.

Tory sleeze at its worst.

Cameron is just his pupet.

all cynic does when given facts is to ABUSE poster that should tell you what kind of person he is ...............................ends

Id say hes trying to please his boss..... Hays. Hes probably doing it and not realising it tanker.

Either way the NASTY Tory party is coming out in their posts.

Haystack - 17 Jul 2013 13:44 - 27300 of 81564

What a lot of nonsense. Australia is the ONLY country opting for plain cigarette packets. All the government has done is to wait for the evidence of Australia's experience. A lot of fuss about nothing.

cynic - 17 Jul 2013 13:44 - 27301 of 81564

sticky - that may or may not be so, but if so, when was that system put in place .... you are claiming or implying that the system/method has been changed since the last election; is that truth or imagination, and if truth, when exactly?

if it's more than year ago, then it doesn't really alter the actual trend ..... one might argue "seasonal factors", which of course can work in both directions, but in that case, I guess one looks back a year for comparison

if anyone could be bothered, it would be interesting to determine what analysis methods or systems were changed when labour was in power for 12 years or however long it was

TANKER - 17 Jul 2013 13:44 - 27302 of 81564

gf Cameron is a puppet to the rich .a liar and corrupt and sticks is fingers up to voters and mocks them

Haystack - 17 Jul 2013 13:48 - 27303 of 81564

The left wing are on the run. The economy is getting better, I unemployment is falling, the deficit is reducing and the lefties are scrabbling around desperately looking for something to moan about. They are looking more desperate by the day. Increasingly Labour are irrelevant to everyone.

TANKER - 17 Jul 2013 13:55 - 27304 of 81564
