Was thinking the same thing myself cynic.

cynic - 22 Sep 2008 13:59 - 2738 of 3050

live sp is on my screen and shall monitor until close(r) to NY opening

goldfinger - 22 Sep 2008 14:17 - 2739 of 3050

Doing the same thing cyners. News just in that a further 30 or so companys have been added to the shorts banned list including GM.

cynic - 22 Sep 2008 14:37 - 2740 of 3050

you can't short 'em!

HARRYCAT - 30 Sep 2008 17:22 - 2742 of 3050

Any of you guys thinking of going long on SOLA soon?
If memory serves me right, 220p is the absolute bottom so far, so am getting ready for the 'Up' cycle.

cynic - 30 Sep 2008 17:59 - 2743 of 3050

SOLA ADRs are currently quite strong (+83), but i think you will find the intraday low was 200 or even a bit lower

sivad - 01 Oct 2008 13:57 - 2744 of 3050

Gone long today.

HARRYCAT - 01 Oct 2008 15:08 - 2745 of 3050

Tight stop? If news from U.S. is bad, this will drop further.

ptholden - 01 Oct 2008 17:03 - 2746 of 3050

I don't think the news from the US will be bad, well now worse than it has been so far. Volatility rules. There may be some mileage in going long at the moment, but I really have no confidence in this chart now. I'm not sure what time scale those MAs are, but I'm assuming 200, 50, 25 (or thereabouts). If that green 'un dips beneath the black 'un you have the so called Death Cross. Now I know my pal Cynic will pop up and tell me it's all a load of cobblers (crosses, wedges, pennants, flags and whatever elses) but the Death Cross is a pretty damn good harbinger of gloom (bit of a mixed metphor there). personally I wouldn't take a position until that little matter resolves itself. If it crosses down, short away. IMHO naturally.

HARRYCAT - 01 Oct 2008 21:18 - 2747 of 3050

PTH, 90% of people who expressed an opinion, said that the $700bn vote would get through first time. I hate to think how many people went long on the DOW that afternoon in anticipation! I stand by my comment....."If the news etc..".

cynic - 01 Oct 2008 21:27 - 2748 of 3050

only do death crosses at easter!

btw, i think the correct term is dead cross, but quite happy to be flexible in my terminology come "carpentry time" ...... anyway, just remember the warning from the centurion - "Drop that cross once more and you're out of the procession!"

goldfinger - 02 Oct 2008 11:29 - 2749 of 3050

Looks to be a good TA case for buying here (dare I say it).

Both lagging and trending indicators pointing to a move upwards.

Im watching very carefully this afternoon and may BUY.

goldfinger - 02 Oct 2008 11:31 - 2750 of 3050

Not as volatile as it once was this stock.

I reckon with more stock in the hands of the market that the beta is now progressing to that more in line with the general market.

goldfinger - 02 Oct 2008 11:36 - 2751 of 3050

Bought in short term.

Pre-Market: 11.69 +0.46 (+4.10%) - Oct 2, 5:29AM EDT

HARRYCAT - 02 Oct 2008 11:58 - 2752 of 3050

So we've got a death cross versus lagging & trending indicators!
Hmmmmm......might go & buy a Fortune Cookie to shed some light on this!

goldfinger - 02 Oct 2008 12:26 - 2753 of 3050

he he, nice one HC.

ptholden - 02 Oct 2008 12:40 - 2754 of 3050

Harry, Cynic was right, should have been a 'Dead Cross' - apologies.

You swallowed a TA book then GF?

goldfinger - 02 Oct 2008 14:45 - 2755 of 3050

Summat like that PTH, he he.

Truth be known i started out 28 years ago investing purely by charts. Different world now with it all being online.

Seem to be revisiting my youth now that ive just retired at 51.

Thumbs up anyway on this one.

jkd - 02 Oct 2008 15:21 - 2756 of 3050
